Alongside the release of Phantom Liberty on the 26th September, Cyberpunk 2077 will be getting a massive free update that makes sweeping changes to core gameplay systems. CD Projekt Red is straight up calling this '2.0', which should give you an idea of how significant the adjustments are.
You can see some of these overhauls in the gameplay trailer embedded above. Just to cover a select few, skill trees have been totally reworked, a proper police system exists, and cyberware operates differently. The update also brings new vehicles, weapons, missions, and open world activities.
If you're hungry for more info, CDPR will be hosting a gameplay livestream on the 24th August.
What do you make of all these changes? Are you eager to revisit Night City? Take on a new gig in the comments section below.

I genuinely cannot wait to start a new game of this. Have resisted until now because of this update. Bring it on.
Wonder if or how changes will impact trophies or questlines.
They got me. I'm going to have to start a new game. I was going to just do the DLC with my current V but this is too tempting.
Held off playing this specifically for this. Looks awsome and I can't wait
I am going to call the actual release and what I played before was just Early Access.
I’ve yet to play Cyberpunk, but am willing to give it a go once the patch arrives. I’m not a big fan of first-person games though as it makes me nauseous.
Looks like I'm going to unplug my console from internet when I start CP77 again just to keep current patch.
My copy has been sitting in plastic for many months now. It can wait a bit longer before I jump into this when the updates launches.
Hrrmmm, to start my playthrough over a 3rd time...
Been waiting for this huge update to finally take the plunge on Cyberpunk. For those who've played - can you sorta roleplay as a corpo, or does every origin story break away and feed into the same "left my past behind" kind of thing?
@djlard Hm? Why?
@djlard why?
@GMaster7 It mostly feeds into the latter, but there are opportunities that open up based on your background. Dialogue choices and a couple of missions can differ. Nothing huge, but it makes things feel a little bit more impactful at times.
Neat.
Still no third-person mode though.
There's so much stuff packed into this update! Crazy stuff it legitimately looks like a new game basically. Highly looking forward to it!
@Robinbird I suffer from severe motion sickness from many first person games and had absolutely no issues with Cyberpunk. Hopefully you'll be able to enjoy it
I still feel like I should love this game. The whole setting seems straight up my alley, but when I played it (somewhat rushed) a year ago I got lost in the complex menu and disorienting map. Anyone else who encountered this but loved it when they pulled through?
Is buying the game for PS4 and upgrading it for free for PS5 still the way to go, also with the DLC coming soon?
I picked this up a few weeks back, so I’m gonna start playing when new update hits 😎
@ShogunRok Thanks. That's basically what I assumed. Makes sense. Excited to try it out.
Yep I’m in for this!
Cyberpunk was a day one purchase for me but when an important NPC got stuck inside a set of stairs and essentially broke my play through I quickly uninstalled and sold my copy on eBay! Been waiting so long for a big update to deliver the goods so I can actually enjoy the experience I thought I was getting originally! This one’s looking legit!
@Boucho11 because I love that game "as it is"
Proper jelly of those that are gonna play this after patch 2.0 for the first ever time. This will be my 7th playthrough and I'm ready to love it even more.
@PocketHotDogs Dude…cousin Rafi for the win. We might be best friends now.
Wait! Skills in the skill tree that ARENT "Raise ____ by 0.00001%"!? I might re-buy it 😱
@GMaster7 yah the 3 distinct stories was more lies from cdpr prerelease. Aside from trivial and sparse dialogue choices that make no real difference, there is no way to genuinely role play as any of them.
@Sarcasmatwork Eskimo brothers!
"CD Projekt Red is straight up calling this '2.0', which should give you an idea of how significant the adjustments are." Unlike Santa Monica Studio who dropped the God of War Ragnarök 2.0 patch on it's launch day.
Most of the changes are on combat, I would have expected something else to roleplay in this big city, other than slaughtering people. Night City has so much unused potential...
@Robinbird its the one thing what has put me off and I have played it.
Honestly wish the game was a third person and I'd actually love it.
Otherwise the game to me is just okay. But im like you first person games just dont do it for me.
It want to see that how much extra content (hours) they add before buying the DLC, but probably I will probably get is as I really enjoyed CP. I bought for PC and played it on "Geforce now" and it was very very good. And for now I bought it again for PS5 (PS4 disc). So I am really positive for this!
Looks like we're finally getting the finished game.
I've not played the game since I completed it after it first came out, but I have a week off work not long after this drops. So just may check this out then, and watch Edgerunners at the same time.
Man...I'm genuinely intrigued. I rarely do so, but I might play this game again. How about story? Will it be the same. I found the very noir no win story a bit of a bummer because I'm a sucker for a proper happy ending. Even in a bleak setting.
@PocketHotDogs That. Was. Perfect.
The streets were really empty the last time I tried it and that felt so weird. Is that fixed? I don't see anything about it...
