The Last Faith has always looked promising, and now we've got a confirmed release date. The Bloodborne-styled 2D action game has stuck to its previously announced window, and will arrive on the 15th November. And yes, it continues to impress in its latest trailer, which features some particularly punchy gameplay clips.
Metroidvanias in this mould are fairly common these days, but every now and then, you get one that really stands out. Here's hoping that The Last Faith can follow in the footsteps of bangers like Blasphemous.

Been on my wishlist for a while. Looks really good. Hopefully it delivers!
I would have been interested if it wasn't these pixel graphics.
Thanks for reminding me that I still have Blasphemous in the backlog. This looks good, too
There seems to be a lot of Bloodborne inspired games.
Damn, looks so much like Blasphemous! I'm sold if the Metroidvania angle holds up it's end. Looks great.
@stridernyc yeah, i wish they made more of these games but in modern 3d graphics, scrolling but with depth, and smooth animations etc.
Looks a LOT like Blasphemous but also super awesome, so… sign me up
This looks like its going to be a good one.
@Jtheripper Same. I spent years back in the day playing games with these graphics. In 2023 I would never regress back to playing games that look like this lol. But glad there are people who enjoy it.
Looks good but I'm kind of tired with dark souls metroidvania mix, the only exception is blasphemous.
@stridernyc @Jtheripper @stridernyc 3D metroidvania mostly inferior compared to the 2D one, the movement just didn't feels right, like ori that has floaty movement compared to tight controls of 2D games like blasphemous.
@stridernyc @wiiware i still like blasphemous etc though, just wish they had super nice modern graphics, animations.
Flashback 2 seems nice..
Also hidden deep game seemed fun on pc, was hoping it comes to consoles.
I do like these games and my particular faves are lost epic, blasphemous and the 2 salt games but i would like them to stop with the pixel graphics and the anime style too as the anime style just is not my thing (i'll still play them if they are exceptional games) and the whole pixelated style is getting really old (ironically) again. This really looks good but i'll wait for a while as i have too many games to finish and not much spare time.
@Jtheripper I think in the end, it depend on the game art style and animation to make the game feels right. I like 2D animation because the games moveset seems more "punchy", like the abilities in blasphemous.
Personally I will never ever get tired of pixel graphics and I think in the indie game scene they haven't even reached the level of awe some of the examples from the 90s could provide. Still, a lot of potential for that technique.
That said, it all depends on the artstyle. Not every pixelated game is visually appealing as much as every game with modern graphics (or just smooth polygonal graphics if you will) isn't either.
About "The Last Faith": Looks promising. But I guess it looks more promising than it might turn out to be actually great. For example, the backgrounds look a bit pale, bland, lifeless and lacking in variety. The elaborate (and impressive) animations might impact the actual timing or tightness of the gameplay.
But on the other hand, it might also turn out to be the next indie masterpiece.
Hope for the latter of course, because these types of games are totally my jam.
Looks amazing though I must say I wish the other aspect of SOTN that these games would occasionally rip on also is the use of the occasional 3D polygon enemy. It was a cool look.
Stop using "Bloodborne inspired" on non 3rd person games, makes no sense at all imho. Bloodborne is unique in every way from all other games in setting, mood, story...everything!
Even Lies Of P is leeching on the Bloodborne's legacy without being a "Bloodborne" game in any way, or is it enough to be dark alleys and a actionRPG, no, it doesn't!
more like Basphemous inspired, really
Souls like metroidvania has to be the most crowded indy genre on the market at this point.
