We don't know the exact hows and whys, but the PS Portal appears to be sold out all over the place. Sony's remote play handheld launched just a couple of days ago in major territories, but you'll be hard pressed to track one down.
The device is currently listed as unavailable on Sony's own PlayStation Direct — both in the US and UK — and it's a similar story with most online retailers, like Amazon, GameStop, and GAME. Some sites state that more stock is expected soon, likely in time for the holiday season.
So, does Sony have a shock commercial success on its hands? Well, it's hard to say. It's entirely possible that the PS Portal has sold better than expected, but we're inclined to believe that, regardless of sales, Sony won't have produced and shipped many units to begin with.
It's also worth noting that Portals are popping up on sites like eBay, where resellers are unsurpsingly asking for more than the retail price of $200 / £200. If stock has been fairly limited, it's possible that scalpers have made a dent in the numbers.
