The Finals is a free-to-play multiplayer shooter that blew up after shadow-dropping at The Game Awards. Developer Embark Studios has released another patch, 1.4.0, wishing Yolks (players) a Merry Patchmas and inviting them to Ho-Ho-Ho-Hop in there this holiday season.
The patch continues to balance gameplay, fix bugs, and additional anti-cheat detection improvements in an effort to combat grinches, which has apparently been a problem. Embark doesn't go into specifics but said that players can expect "major changes to our anti-cheat detection to ensure fewer matches with players who don’t play fair."
In addition, the Monaco map is getting a festive makeover, so be sure to dress appropriately. Drawing huge numbers with its exciting blend of environmental distractibility, high mobility, and team-based coordination, The Finals is one of the most exciting new online shooters we've seen in years; well worth checking out if you have some spare time over the holidays.

My son is loving this game. He hasn’t mentioned anything about cheaters
Good, I noticed a few suspect deaths while playing. We'll see how it fairs tonight. So glad these former Battlefield devs are getting shine. Loved the BF series, once most of them left and formed Embark it just hasn't been the same. This feels just like those old greats. I missed their style of shooter.
@Grimwood exact same thing? Anything but the destruction physics sure but that's what sets it apart in the end.
Besides its patches are great. It's already gotten its second event and the game's only been out for two weeks 😮💨
The last live service game that grabbed me like this was rocket league. It’s only not getting more play because BG3 and LOTF keep me busy. I really don’t enjoy live service but this one is a gem. Glad to see it’s getting patches and seems to be doing well.
I've been dipping in and out of this game for a few rounds. It's a brilliant shooter and I really like the graphics and sound. I have not seen anything that made me feel as though people were cheating.
Maybe use that money to pay voice actors.
