The Finals is a free-to-play multiplayer shooter that blew up after shadow-dropping at The Game Awards. Developer Embark Studios has released another patch, 1.4.0, wishing Yolks (players) a Merry Patchmas and inviting them to Ho-Ho-Ho-Hop in there this holiday season.

The patch continues to balance gameplay, fix bugs, and additional anti-cheat detection improvements in an effort to combat grinches, which has apparently been a problem. Embark doesn't go into specifics but said that players can expect "major changes to our anti-cheat detection to ensure fewer matches with players who don’t play fair."

In addition, the Monaco map is getting a festive makeover, so be sure to dress appropriately. Drawing huge numbers with its exciting blend of environmental distractibility, high mobility, and team-based coordination, The Finals is one of the most exciting new online shooters we've seen in years; well worth checking out if you have some spare time over the holidays.
