Update: The free trial for Cyberpunk 2077 is now available through the PS Store until Sunday night. You can play five hours of CD Projekt Red's open world game, and the progress that you make can be carried over to the full thing should you decide to grab it later on.
Keep in mind, though, that you'll be downloading the full game for the purposes of this trial — and it ain't small. It weighs in at around 99GB on PS5, so you may need to make some room on your SSD.
Original Story: Cyberpunk 2077 will be made completely free on PS5 this coming weekend, letting anyone and everyone download the game from the PS Store and take it for a spin. This extended trial, which gives you five hours to do whatever you want, starts on Friday the 28th March and ends on Sunday 31st March, just before midnight.
It's also worth noting that this is just the base game — not the Phantom Liberty expansion.
If you haven't yet tried Cyberpunk for yourself, this might be the perfect time to jump in. The game's been heavily updated over the last few months, to the point where the PS5 version is what we'd now consider one of the best open world titles on the market.
We gave the game an 8/10 when it first came to Sony's current-gen console, but honestly, it was the 2.0 Update (and the aforementioned Phantom Liberty DLC) that really pushed it into borderline masterpiece territory.

Just drop phantom expansion to 15 bucks stop being so greedy...
If anyone will try it this weekend, I highly recommend to play the game without any patches because that was how the developer originally envisioned it
Nice for those who don't have PS+ Premium, 5 hours trial has been available there for some time now.
Bought this a couple months ago, and was very cynical but curious about it, only finished it last week and it ended up being one of my fav ever games! I just wished there was a NG+
One of the few games that could make me buying a PS5 Pro (if the rumors are true), with all settings at maximum, like on a high-spec PC...
Waited 3 years for this. For me it's a 7/10 the combat is average at best and the things to do in the city is next to none compare to Yakuza. Graphics and voice acting mission is top notch though.
have they patched in left handed controls though or still ignoring accessibility options?
Completely free weekend for 5 hours. I thought Weekend is significantly longer than 5 hrs.
@Czar_Khastik You forgot to mention the game is a lot better on OG PS4
@Czar_Khastik Kudos, your sarcasm is always a prefect Segway to every comment section.
Hats off
Dragon's Dogma 2 fans take note. This is what happens when unfinished games finally get finished and actually become good games, if you just don't pay for it until it's actually finished.
Still dreaming of a PSVR2 version. This game in VR needs to happen. I'll buy a Quest for that.
@Rhaoulos Ah yes, and if I recall correctly, when played on OG PS4 the game even supports remote play over PS Vita.
@CallMeDuraSouka Thanks man, I appreciate the kind words
Yay.... Would have been nice if this were there prerelease so I didn't have to be a day one beta tester for this overhyped garbage.
@lindos - Why rely on the devs for that? You can do it at system level on the console.
I love CP77. I'm on my second run as a stealth ninja. Stuck on Oda though, so I need to persevere and try to get through that fight
5 hours. If you rush, and skip some car rides, you might be able to get out of the intro with 3 hours to spare. Still wish they included a way to skip it.
Bought the disk used for $5 back while it was banned from the store. Waited for the PS5 upgrade, then decided to wait for the DLC to go on a better sale.
Still waiting. But it's on my list.
Is this only for new players as I can’t see a free trial option?
This game is utter twonk! And very poor quality.
The 5 hours should exclude the character creator.
@CallMeDuraSouka Segway?! lol
