Dragon's Dogma 2 continues to be the gift that keeps giving, with players reporting overnight the discovery of how to use the many catapults trebuchets (and ballista) left scattered around Capcom's reactive game world (though some are clearly destroyed). Even more exciting, the power and torque of these beautiful machines of siege warfare, reputedly able to launch 90kg projectiles over 300 meters in reality, can be used to smash open previously undiscovered secret areas in the game.
IGN spotted a clip from Twitter user Peppo_LS that purports to show off this secret, which, as you might imagine, has kicked off a scouring of the entire game. Being trebuchets and not catapults, these weapons work on a counterweight system and launch projectiles in a flatter arc, not unlike a cannon, and so the secret lies in placing a nearby stone in the sometimes concealed sling.
Just yesterday, we learned of the existence of Dragonsplague, a mysterious affliction spreading through players' Pawns which can be cured by drowning them. We're huge fans of the game here, having put a numbered score on the game in our review after taking some extra time and careful consideration.

Fighting this Dragon in one of the opening areas where you unlock the Mystic Spearhand vocation and when fighting it dropped a really powerful weapon for the class, i thought it was odd as the weapon is above anything else i've found by a fair bit but well it turns out as i fought it as a Thief one of my skills made it that i stole that weapon from the Dragon, wouldn't have dropped otherwise so i've had a massive headstart with the new vocation with this powerful weapon tailer made for it. As for the Mystic Spearhand vocation it basically makes you a medieval Jedi and yes its as cool as it sounds.
The creepiest thing in this game is the dragons talking to you. I had one moment where I saw one sitting and was pretty close, but I needed to get back to Vermund. One moment later of walking away and I hear "You are on the right path Arisen" or "You cannot escape your fate" and I got so scared because I thought that there was a drake on top of me.
So much to do and so little time. Awesome game. Playing as an archer because I decided to try a class..sorry vocation that I don't usually pick and I'm really enjoying it.
@DennisReynolds Do you know what the skill was mate? I just switched to thief last night for a play about.
This game just continues to impress me. My main pawn had to tell off a hired pawn last night because she kept faffing about throwing chickens!
Playing as a Thief is basically a cheat code. I absolutely love it.
@DennisReynolds nice. I'll be sure to switch to thief before taking down the dragon.
@ApostateMage I'd check the eyes of the chicken thrower if I was you.
@DennisReynolds I got the drop as a fighter. I think it is from targeting its jiggly wiggly weakpoint puss sacks or maybe just a straight percentage drop, or maybe a thief in the party at the time? Whatever it was, I got the drop there.
Also levelling Spearhand at the moment, and slow-walking through a fight while levitating foes is badass. It's the ultimate slow/fast build. One moment you can be doing that, the next teleport to a monsters head and whirl your blades like a windmill π
The weapon in question:
My Party has it's debut album dropping this summer, btw π
@ApostateMage pawns are so much better this time. I love the conversations and that you can tell them to go when they suggest something.
@GeeEssEff I don't actually as i didn't even know it was possible.
@DennisReynolds Found it this evening. Itβs a core upgrade that means your standard attack sometimes steals items.
@GeeEssEff It'll be Pilfer (with Plunder being the enhanced version). Only thing is to steal you have to knock them down.
