So far, Sony’s fledgling PC strategy has seen mixed results. The earlier conversions, like Horizon Zero Dawn and God of War, came with a degree of novelty which saw them stand out. Subsequent efforts, like Sackboy: A Big Adventure, didn’t possess the same appeal. But one game PC users have been eagerly anticipating is Ghost of Tsushima, and now it’s on its way, with a 16th May release date attached.
Unsurprisingly, that’s prompted a lot of pre-orders on Steam, where at the time of typing it’s the 13th best-selling title on the store front – ahead of releases like Elden Ring, Street Fighter 6, and even the one-time phenomenon Palworld. We’d expect this one to do extremely well.
It’s probably worth mentioning that Nixxes is on porting duties here, so you can likely expect an excellent experience. The title will take advantage of all the latest graphics card bells and whistles, and will support ultrawide monitors and even resolutions of up to 48:9 for those of you with triple monitor setups. Despite being a few years old now, this game is going to look absolutely incredible on high-end computers, there’s no doubt about that.

Nice to see as this will bring Sony more revenue to fund future titles whilst also making their console still necessary to those that don't want to wait 1-2 years to get the games on PC. Even with their games coming to PC (years later) they still sell really well on console beforehand. I think Sony should also drop these games into playstation plus extra the same day they release on PC, so their new releases are to buy only on their console for 2 years and then drop into Extra and onto PC after the 2 years is up, I think that strategy would work well for them.

@ZhuckelDror
It’s only better graphics if you have a $1500+ PC. If you have a $500 PC(price of PS5) you’ll be getting a black screen or maybe 1080p 30fps.
It’s also $60 on PC and has been available on PS Plus for years, and $30 on sales.
Got will be 4 years old in July.
@ZhuckelDror 4-5 years later, yeah.

@GeminiReign
There was no point in having an Xbox console for years but that's not the topic here.
@ZhuckelDror I'm happy for the PC players that pixel peep and chase fps, 🥱
anyway how much will the Nvidia 5000 series cost when it releases?
@ZhuckelDror the age of a game is defined by its original release date, not the release of the complete edition. Skyrim is not 2 years old because the anniversary edition released 2 years ago.
I have no problem with the anti-console PC gamers getting access to these games. As someone who plays on all platforms, I get to play them first.
I don’t feel PC should be ostracized from playing certain games because they don’t want to purchase a console, but they’ll be inherently forced to be a ‘patient gamer’ over that decision.
@ChrisDeku
So you would be content with Skyrim rereleasing all these times in its original from without all the expansion packs?
@ZhuckelDror Let me get this straight. You’re saying Skyrim Anniversary Edition counts as a 2 year old game? Ok, you do you.
@MrMagic
You don't need a top tier video card to get PS5 level graphics in these ports.
@ChrisDeku
Content wise Anniversary Edition is based on the Legendary Edition which was released in 2013.
If looking at a particular game content wise it's age should be determined from the moment the last part of the content was released no?
@GeminiReign
Reported for what? Explaining my point of view?
@ZhuckelDror Ok cool, Cyberpunk 2077 is a 6 month old game. I’ll now feel free to ignore everything you say.
@ZhuckelDror Yeah you probably don't need the latest hardware for these old games but you didn't answer my question.
@ZhuckelDror
GoT specs aren’t posted yet but H:FW recommends an RTX 3070 for 1440p/60 and an RTX 4080 fpr 4k/60. For 1440/60 you can probably build a complete PC setup for maybe $1000 at a stretch(using cheap components) but more like $1200+. For 4k/60 that’s a $1500 graphics card, your PC will be well over $2000.

And those Steam results are only a taste for what a Bloodborne PC version can accomplish...
@ChrisDeku I have a friend who just pirates every single player game he plays and i only get games on steep sale, smart pc players won't buy the game right now.
@Legend_Au I think eventually there may be day 1 PC releases that aren't live service because Jim Ryan's replacement said about aggressive PC strategy. There's a point where the slowing down of PS5 PS Studios releases and running out of PS4/PS5 games to port over to PC converge. At that point you're either ending up with no longer having an aggressive PC strategy or you're releasing day 1 on PC.
Similar thing happened with Xbox and the XB1, by the time day 1 on PC started (ReCore in September 2016) there wasn't much left for XB1 in terms of already released games that could be brought to PC:
These never made it to PC:
Don't see the problem the game is years old , takes nothing away from owning a ps5 , and with layoffs rife in the industry extra revenue from pc is surely a good thing.
Excellent news! Now our PC brothers and sisters can enjoy Jin in his full glory (Saunas aha). Can’t wait for the people to find the duels across the islands.
@GeminiReign do you really need someone to explain the benefits of owning a console instead of PC
@ZhuckelDror i own all systems but Xbox is my preferred platform, I prefer the operating system, the control pad, the achievements the quick resume and the day one exclusives on gamepass. I use for my PlayStation for exclusives only.
@ChrisDeku people are still so delusional when it comes this they have they can reach last of us 2 graphics for under 500. Consoles sell at a loss as they make the money back on software. PC components do not
Great for PC players, but GoT feels outdated with its beaten up open-world mechanism so I'm not sure that the kind of game PC players want to play.
HD2 (doing really well), upcoming HFW and Ghost in the first half. Apparently Gravity Rush in the summer and Until Dawn + Concord for sure 2nd half might even throw LoU2 there. The execs are rubbing their hands thinking of the cash, we will see cause most PC sales were abysmal.

If the specs are anything like H:FW then you will need something like a 3070 to get a stable 1440p/60fps. That's £500 for the GPU alone! Even if it's a little less intensive and you need something like a 3060 to match PS5, that's still £275.
You then have to buy a CPU, PSU, SSD, RAM, OS, motherboard, case, fans, cables, keyboard and mouse... and probably a controller for a better experience. Good luck sourcing all that for less that £1,000 without bottlenecking somewhere, or buying used goods. And if you want that PC advantage, to exceed what PS5 can do, and hit 4K/60+ you are looking at a much more expensive setup probably £1,250+.
I love what PC gaming can achieve but it is expensive compared to console.
@Toot1st Agreed. PC components used to come down in price quickly and by around half way through a console generation you could usually scrape together a rig that matched a console's performance for around £500, but those days are gone. Building a PC that matches PS5 is comparatively expensive.
Kinda regret getting this for PS4. It was an incredibly uncomfortable playthrough of what was otherwise a pretty good game. But it boiled my room right in the middle of summer with how hot it made my console…
Remember that Steam charts are revenue based not unit based.
@ChrisDeku
The question I have is, how do you get the quote box around the test you are quoting? I have tried googling what to do and every website is kinda different depending on how it's coded and I can't figure it out. That and strikethrough, I mean is there a forum post where the mods explain all these features that I have missed? I figured out how to Highlite but that's it.
If this can run with 40fps on a gaming handheld it would be so amazing, though a gaming session probably wouldn't last longer than 90 minutes.
@MikeOrator it’s
[quote]
and then /quote
but using the same brackets
It’s actually kinda awkward to get to work on this website, sometimes need to edit and then save without making changes for it to acknowledge it.
@ChrisDeku
Thank you that's brilliant!
A lot of PC only players were waiting for Ghost to drop on Steam, I'm not surprised the pre-orders are so high.
People still buy Xboxes even if their games are releasing Day 1 on PC. There will always be a market for consoles, for no hassle gaming. Just hope we're not left with only Nintendo in this space, and keep having at least Sony too as a console maker.
I hope it does well on PC. Excellent game.
@MrMagic More then the 4000s. Nvidia is going to Abuse there market control.
@kedireturns Most Playstation gamers buy the disc version.
I wish my PS5 received as much attention from Sony as PC’s have.
This gen is a bad joke in comparison to previous gen’s.
@Sil_Am Xbox also had no exclusives for years and even now their output is still not great and was only possible because they had the money to buy publishers. In the end I guess everyone will be able to play PS games, and seeing Xbox porting their games to PS makes me think this is the future, not just PC ports. But I think it's gonna hurt the exclusive games output which is already not that great for PS5 generation. Of course there is a decent amount of great multiplatform titles, but if someone liked the quality of Sony's exclusive games, that might be gone after a while like it happened to Xbox.
Such a no brainer to bring these games to PC after their sales stall on PS5 after a couple years. Extends their lifespan and may even make people want to buy or replay it on their PS5 since it’ll be in the gaming news. GoT is such a great game that I’m glad more can experience it

Doing day one PC launch alongside PS5 is 100% the right thing for Sony to do for their financial health. PS5 users are a pretty hardcore bunch so the loss of sales on console vs the huge uplift of PC sales just makes sense. I am pretty sure this strategy will be put into place within the next couple of years.
@Aeula
My old PS4 was levitating from the speed of the fans playing this game. I remember seeing the previews and warned my family that it was going to get noisy. I did get the plat with the PS5 directers cut, a rare instance I replay a game so maybe you have had enough time between to enjoy it again for the first time.
I Seem to be playing more PS Games on my PC than on my PS5 ! GOT is such a great game , perfect timing to port to PC , not sure I’ll play it again tho .
@jt887 think lots don’t like the fact PC get the superior version of the game. GOT is going to look and perform amazing on PC !
Just so it is available on PC Handhelds is reason enough for the release in my book.
@MikeOrator Got it downloaded on my PS5 just never found the time or push to revisit it. At least for now.
