Kingdom Hearts IV will grace PS5 boxes next year, according to the increasingly reliable online tipster Daniel Richtman (DanielRPK). The TV and film leaker posted to his Patreon that he's heard about a 2025 release date for Kingdom Hearts IV, just days after his claim Sonic Frontiers 2 is in development was backed up by another reliable insider in Midori. The rumour may suggest we'll see more of the Square Enix title later in 2024 after two years of radio silence since its reveal.
The publisher has held such a tight grip on official details that the fourth entry isn't even confirmed for PS5 yet, though the chances of it skipping Sony's current-gen system are slim. For now, all we know is it's running on Unreal Engine 5, with all other chatter being speculation based on the announcement trailer.
Kingdom Hearts fans have traditionally had to wait vast stretches of time between the games' reveal and eventual release, with Kingdom Hearts III taking six years to launch after its E3 2013 trailer was shared alongside Final Fantasy XV. Are you anticipating a Kingdom Hearts IV launch next year? Cling on to hope in the comments below.

Nah, there hasn't been 8 games setting up side plots and characters yet.
I'm desperate for this to be the case. And to be honest it makes sense with FF XVI and VII Rebirth both being released now KH IV being Square's next big release makes sense and about a year or so if marketing is all this game really needs Kingdom Hearts basically sells itself at this point honestly then laying low until the game is basically done was the best move
No. Just no.
Now I don’t doubt they’re going for 2025, when did Team Cherry say Silksong was going to release, I just don’t see it releasing next year.
Sure, I believe it's slated for 2025, but that doesn't mean it will launch then. I think 2026 is more likely, and 2027 will be FF7 Part 3. I hope I'm wrong but I don't see it happening...
Don't see it personally. Feels too soon.
As for the game, i really need to be convinced this time around. I absolutely loved Kingdom hearts to the point I bought consoles such as the PSP specifically to play the spin off games, but KH3 was, for me at least, a big disapointment sadly. Needs a big overhaul.
Will follow the project with interest however and keep everything crossed it turns out positively
Well i finished kingdom hearts 1 this year so i have a lot of ground to make up
If i was a game publisher i wouldn’t launch anything around GTA6 nor anything 6 months after. That game is going to eat serious amounts of time and dollars from gamers. Sure this game is way different but still.
@rjejr Team Cherry's failures don't equate to everyone having the same issues.
I don't see that game coming till 2027 at its earliest... Square Enix sole focus is to make sure the 3rd Final Fantasy 7 sequel gets done ASAP.
That's nice to hear, since it takes roughly one full year of studying to understand its basic story.
@Czar_Khastik I still want to know what happened to Sora's mum in the first game. And his perfectly ordinary looking house was overlooking the island with Tidus and Wakka on it? And if he's not an orphan, why was he trying to sail away from Tidus Island? Isn't that kind of cruel on his mum?
It's a very strange story that makes little sense. Sorry all.
@LifeGirl I've literally watched a 1-hour long recap twice and stil don't get it. Maybe if I split into a heartless and a nobody so they can figure it out
If they do, some Product Managers at Square Enix deserve a raise. They used to take many years to make each game, suddenly we have FFXVI, FF7 Rebirth and KH4 consecutive months/years + a smooth development period? Kudos to them!
N.i.c.e. i always enjoy kingdom hearts games.kingdom hearts 4 looks really good from that trailer.word up son
@LifeGirl Sora’s mom was in between a heartless and a nobody. She was a somebody. She spoke to Sora from another dimension outside his bedroom door before her heart was split into 4 different pieces and scattered across the universe. You would have learned this if you collected all 100 pieces of Bambi droppings from the Atari Lynx spin off game and saw the secret ending. All joking aside, there are some major plot holes, but I still love playing these games.
@Optimus i really enjoyed that
KH fans must be overloaded in recent years after they got KH: Remake & KH: Rebirth now KH4.
I could see a 2025 release, especially with FF16 and FF7 Rebirth out.
Sounds believable, Square Enix seem to be aiming for 1 big game a year:
Can't wait for this. Love this crazy franchise!!
There was a time when I loved Kingdom Hearts but they ruined it over time making it more and more nonsensical, they honestly seemed to believe all that guff smelled good.
@Optimus Haha. (Insert You-had-me-in-the-first-half.gif)
Always look forward to more KH. Very excited for this new saga!
Square Enix has only given us the announcement trailer I doubt KH4 is out next year, KH3 had a few trailers and a few things of gameplay shown before that came out.
Unless Square shows a few trailers and some gameplay this year I doubt it will be out till 2026
I really like Kingdom Hearts games.
Unfortunately for Square Enix, all that effort putting up the conspiracy theorist thread board just to iron out the plot was all in vain because I barely remember what it was even about.
Hopefully the new Saga has a lot less confusing terminology and reduces the amount of plot twists.
Keeping important plot points on "mainline" consoles and not locking plot elements behind Secret Endings also kind of helps.
I don't want to have to play the Apple Arcade-Only Kingdom Hearts Card Saga Rhythm Fighter X-Blade Final Cut Mix R and get the Secret Ending by getting 300% game progression in order to be able to follow what is going on with Kingdom Hearts V.
No chance, you have to wait at least 4 years after a KH game is announced.
KH1 was such a special game. Everything about it was somehow otherworldly and familiar and magical. KH2 was magical because KH1 was magical but really started losing its own script part-way through. Then between all the spinoffs, revisionism, rewrites, and IDK what else they even did the part of the lore that was mysterious and cool and made you want to dig into the series and explore it more started to become irritating and nonsensical, and now they've gone as far as saying that it was never about FFxDisney that was just for marketing in the first game (wtf? It was most of the plot!) and everything that felt interesting and otherworldly about it pretty much stopped. Now it's just an on-trend Disney hack & slash + platforming game with a nonsense story, featuring whatever latest Disney property they want to promote on a given year. When KH3 came out I was disappointed my limted edition PS4 Pro got cancelled. Now IDK if I'm even interested in KH4.
They need to take the series back to its FF xover roots. Which is weird I'm saying that because normally I'd say Square needs to stop trying to cram FF into every IP idea they have.
@Optimus No, that was only before the Vita presequelremake DLC reveled that was just a ruse to hide the truth by Xiggirich and his band of anybodies to protect the identity of Jar Jar Binks.
Never cared for the story personally as I don’t care about anything to do with anime or Final Fantasy.. but I AM stoked to explore those beautiful amazing Disney worlds!! Day one for me
@DarkTron OK, how about Squenix, the dev of this game, having a full blown full orchestral live event in March to promote the September release date for FFXV, only to then in August delay that game a few months later until November? Better? 🤷♂️

The story in these games, seems to be a total mess.
Also, I hate anything Disney, so I just couldn't get into the series.
Makes sense. XVI and 7Reb are out now and the XIV expansion is out in june. They got nothing else coming, so it's KH's turn.
They said they wanted to work on getting these faster cause KH3 took so long after 2.
@Steel76 Yes, it's trendy to use the convoluted word for it.
But it's actually not. It makes sense, you just have to keep up with it.
It's not the simplest of stories but that is why so many such as me love it. There's lots of theories and speculation that goes into it cause it's such a rich story and revelations as well as dramatic moments pack a punch.
But ofc, it's not for everyone. I like complex stories myself. Reminds me of legacy of kain.
@rjejr you're equating a 2-month delay of a triple-A title, which was delayed shortly before releasing (denoting either production issues or last-second implementations) where your only issue is a release date announcement was made 6 months early, to a game that's been in production since 2019, which has been rumoured for release each year, and has been delayed numerous times by Team Cherry publically. You're really grasping at straws trying to win (but ultimately lose) this argument.
@DarkTron The fact that you continue this argument means I've already won, b/c I don't even know what you're talking about. 😂
