Sony has today confirmed a new PlayStation overlay that will ship on its PC ports, with next month's Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut being the first to use it. You'll be able to access it from Windows PCs from either the in-game menu or by pressing "Shift + F1", which will pull up a new screen housing your PSN profile, friends list, and Trophies.
You can log into your existing PSN account or create a new one, and from there, view the first Trophy list available on a PC, see what your PS5, PS4 friends are playing, and check out your own profile. The PS5 and PC versions of Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut will share a single Trophy list, so you could work towards the Platinum Trophy across the two platforms. You'll also be able to adjust some basic settings from the overlay like privacy options, blocking players, and accessing notifications.
Nixxes, the first-party team that has ported Ghost of Tsushima from PS5, PS4 to PC, shared the system requirements as part of a PlayStation Blog post:

Trophies on PC! Now I would seriously consider getting a PC. No, that isn’t a joke. Next they need to do the same for mobile and I’ll play games there too. This is good news. If they can convert pc achievements to PSN trophies that would be brilliant.
Just rename the Steamdeck as a porta le PS5 and be done with it.
@thefourfoldroot1 for once I agree with you. Trophies on a SteamDeck is awesome.
Amazing. Little by little with each sale I have been getting each Sony release for my Steamdeck.
They should bring cross save between PC/PS5
Not gonna lie 😂 this kinda makes me want to get a PC
I always liked the idea of having trophies and game under the PS ecosystem.
For people that can afford it, they can bypass the technical limitations of the console and have better graphics and performance while still feeling like they're gaming on Playstation.
Only issues are that it still takes quite some time to port the games and I've heard stutter can occur on PCs. Should those issues be sorted than this can be an awesome way for people to up their experience.
@Xbox_Dashboard bizarre how they gave me days gone for buying ps5 but I finished it after paying for it on steam deck...
@thefourfoldroot1 Steam already has achievements. Honestly what's the difference other than this incorporating the PS ecosystem?
Damnnnnn, integrate this into Steam and HOO BOY the VITA LIVES ON THROUGH THE STEAM DECK!
The second big step towards a console-less future (the first being producing games for PC in the first place). Dread it, run from it… destiny arrives all the same.
I think there’ll be another generation, maybe two… but we’re in the Endgame now.
As if anyone on PC would run a game at 30FPS.
Would make much more sense for me if it was a cross-licence solution, even if just for first party studios. GoT sounds great on PC, but I ain't paying full price again for a game I beat multiple times..
@Xbox_Dashboard If you were buying a steam deck as a portable PS5 you would be sorely disappointed. Most of the recent PlayStation releases on PC are either unsupported or unverified for steam deck.
Brilliant. I hope they patch this into previous PC releases as well.
@Kevw2006 Returnal is a bit rough, and Horizon Forbidden West drops to low framerates in spots, but everything else runs pretty well. Even former exclusives like Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart and The Last of Us remake.
And even then, HFW will probably be patched and optimized a bit over time.
@TruestoryYep
I want it added to my existing collection. I know it may seem silly, but I’d like my (recent) gaming history recorded in one place, with one set of stats, lists, photographs/videos etc. I don’t want start in another ecosystem.
Colin Moriarty is happy somewhere...
I wonder if they'll retroactively add trophies to all the other PC ports now.
Gotta say Sony has unwittingly(?) helped facilitate players transition to PC with ease: native DualSense support, cross-platform multiplayer, no PS+ requirement, cheaper games, freedom to use any controller, DLSS, mods and now Trophy support, so you don't have to give up your longstanding PSN ID and trophies when moving to PC.
All that's left is day 1 PC ports of single player games, which I predict will happen now that Totoki is in charge.
what pc and ps5 version share a single trophy list ? why when ps4 and ps5 dont
why do they work differently
@colonelkilgore I think there will still be console-like premade devices. People have thought I'm crazy, but my prediction based on MS rumblings for a while has been that the next XB or next-next XB would really be a PC inside, but a console-like form factor, a launcher that looks just like the XB dashboard, and more expensive than we're used to, and that PS would almost certainly follow if not the same gen, one gen later, because that's what 3rd parties really want is just one PC platform with some set hardware profile to target. It's why they wanted x86 starting with PS4/X1. Plus that gets us into the annual semi-annual hardware upgrade release like PC/phone and no more "generations" and "mid-gen" that MS has hinted at, and even old Jim had said he wanted before he said he believed in generations, before the then ignored generations.
On the outside it would still be console-like, a pre-made box, smaller, quieter, more power efficient, and attractive for an HT like a console, most consumers wouldn't even know the difference. Physical would be long gone. And inside it would be little more than a custom gaming laptop. Publishers would no longer need to have whole separate development cycles for PC, PS, XB, it would all be PC with different targets.
Even arcade machines really just run Windows PCs inside now. I think within a decade we'll all be "PC gamers" but the form factor and branding of the box will leave most consumers that still buy consoles, which is a limited demographic already, feeling like nothing changed with consoles.
Even for PS, and clearly for MS, "exclusives" then all become "timed exclusives" to their store. Steam Deck changed everything.
I’ll double dip on more PlayStation games on my ROG Ally if this is going to be the norm.
It’s already a great Game Pass machine, this would be a great addition.
@Kevw2006 agreed. Im used my steam deck oled mostly for indie game/older game. I have ps5 for heavy games that require extra power. But Days gone, tomb raider/shadow of TR is run flawless on deck.
Ooo super snazzy. I'm playing through Days Gone on Steam for the first time and this would have been a cool addition.
@colonelkilgore I'm eagerly awaiting the day where I can game in my head, an arms reach away from my 3 seashells.
@Intr1n5ic That damn Taco Bell.
What is the interest of Trophies on PC for only PS games? Its not like they are actually PS players
@colonelkilgore Consoles are safe. I still believe that dedicated hardware for our games won't vanish until we live in a world where Shangri-La Frontier or the holodeck can actually happen.
This move by Sony is just so games that they publish are always in their ecosystem no matter where they are played.
I hope that Sony patches their other PC releases to support trophies.
Next move is a dedicated pc store front..soon..
@zebric21 That would be a good way to kill their already low PC sales.
Damn I was hoping the PC list would be separate from the PS5 list so I could go Platinum Death Stranding a third time haha
@AverageGamer I dont know if you're make it cross buy with PC/PS5 it may be awsome.
Now do the same for mobile and release Locoroco on the iPhone!
The greatness streak continues.
PlayStation is king,
We’ve experienced the greatness with the PS1 generation, the PS2 generation, the PS3 generation, the PS4 generation and now we can add the PSPC generation to that list.
My bad, I forgot the PS5. Well, it feels like Sony has too. It doesn’t deserve to be on that list regardless.
Step by step
First PC ports
Then day-and-date releases on PC for some games (Helldivers 2)
Now PlayStation overlay
In next chapters I expect
Full fledged PlayStation Store on PC (in vein of Uplay or EA Client)
day-and-date PC releases for all PlayStation Studios games
It's inevitable.
Very good, Sony should keep pushing improvements like these.
Next step would be to get streaming on mobile apps and sometime in the future their own hybrid handheld.
It was inevitable....
Sony now understands that the PC is where the real profit is.
@NEStalgia You're right, this seems to be the path. But I don't like it one bit. The PCfication of consoles has pretty much ended the days of exotic, sexy hardware designed specifically for the living room. Those were the days.
Now, we get the same bloated general computing device that is unoptimized for games. Which then calls for similarly bloated APIs and SDKs, not to mention general purpose game engines that seem powerful from a feature set point-of-view, but result in games that often look and run worse than the previous generation.
I know, old man yelling at the clouds here. But that doesn't make my opinion wrong. The market does dictate reality, which in turn doesn't make it good.
I built a new PC in 2020 and I've been getting all the games they release on Steam. Horizon Zero Dawn wasn't the best in fact took a year to fix it to get it working and stable for a few. But it now works Days Gone looks amazing on PC and God of War glad I can earn trophies on it now they make games last longer as you do the side quests etc
@Art_Vandelay Yeah, can't argue with any of that! Though I think the exterior will still be aesthetically designed (even if to modern designers that means things that look like melted routers and refrigerators....) but the insides are bland and inefficient as can be. It's what the 3rd parties need. At least in the post Japanese game buying world.
The real mess of it is these generic engines aren't running "close to the metal" to quote Cerny. Everything is in virtualized sandboxes, is like you're running emulators for "native" games. Of course it take 800W TDP to render 60fps.
Although I guess those are rose tinted glasses. For every tlou PS3 engine there's two Crystal Tools/Luminous/Frostbite trainwrecks of custom engines
I do love how for this PS4 remaster the 4k60 spec requires a $1100 (oh happy day its not $1800 anymore, we're saved!) video card. Throwing more money at any problem is The Way of the Gamer!
my gpu slowly getting outdated , rocking a 3060 and its barely enough to run it on high settings.
@PoeticJustice the only issue really is the cost to keep up with upgrading ur pc , depending how well you want the game to run. i bought a pc with a 3060 , and its starting to feel a lil outdated now, yeah it can run games just fine , but with pc you want those high , very high or ultra settings.
@TrickyDicky99 Sony are the publishers, so they get their cut. For the games that they publish.
I wonder if they would let you get trophies for other games too, not just the games by Sony. It's a good idea tho, to have trophies on PC. I just won't be getting that game, as I've already completed it on PS4.
@Rmg0731 pretty sure PC/PS5/Switch is a popular combo right now. i’m a ps player that plays PC, i’m a PC player that play switch, & so on….
the sooner all merge like cross play and cross save , the better. though to be honest , if all gaming platforms did merge then PC without a doubt would be king 😂
@BeerIsAwesome I was also wondering the exact same thing but from this line "The PS5 and PC versions of Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut will share a single Trophy list" it unfortunately won't be the case.
One less reason to stay with PlayStation.
Then it is not a PS5 Pro that i need now, it is a good PC.
@Godot25 day one ps releases will make me go full pc 100% 👍
