Hi-Fi Rush developer Tango Gameworks has confirmed the upcoming physical version for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S will still be released via Limited Run Games despite Microsoft's plans to close the studio. In addition, one last update for the game will be available later today "to address some minor issues".
In the team's first tweet since it was announced The Evil Within, Hi-Fi Rush developer Tango Gameworks will be shut, it explained: "Thank you all for your continued support. We’re working to release the physical edition of Hi-Fi RUSH with our partners at Limited Run Games, as well as a final patch to address some minor issues releasing later today." Pre-order details for the retail version haven't been shared yet, though at least now physical enthusiasts know they can still soon own Hi-Fi Rush on a disc.
Tango Gameworks is one of three studio closures at Microsoft, with Arkane Austin (Redfall, PREY) and Alpha Dog Games also ceasing to exist. Furthermore, Roundhouse Studios is being absorbed into The Elder Scrolls Online studio Zenimax Online Studios. It's rumoured Tango Gameworks was in the process of pitching a Hi-Fi Rush sequel, which will now never see the light of day.

I dislike LRG, but I will absolutely pick this up on disc for PS5, maybe also XBox as well. This is a game that deserves to be remembered and have a place on a player’s shelf.
I will double dip on this one. Really would like to have it physical. To bad they don't get to make the sequel they wanted. Does MS own the IP?
@Frmknst …as opposed to having a non-fun game physically? I mean, can loan it to a friend to enjoy, take pleasure in actually owning a copy of the game as opposed to a revocable license to download and play it…
Might as well ask why one would want a copy of a “fun” movie on disc. Or a “fun” book in paper form instead of an ebook. Same reasons.
@Frmknst for comforting reasons. Just to hold it on a rainy night. Shedding a little tear while looking at it, knowing there will never be a next one.
@Martijn87 🤣🤣🤣😭😭
Nice and according to Jez Corden's latest article over on windows central or the insider gaming article, everything is coming to playstation, even Halo infinite.
@Frmknst Some of us prefer to own physical versions of our games.
I'm torn. I already own this on Xbox but part of me wants to make a protest purchase to highlight how stupid the decision to shut Tango is.
But then I'd be giving Microsoft more money.
But I also like having physical games.
@Frmknst what kinda of question is this???? Do you think physical collectors like boring games???
@Frmknst Having a physical copy will always be better than having the game digitally. It seems people still hasn't learned a thing or two when it comes to games getting delisted by the publishers time and time again. And people cry about "video game preservations" but you couldn't even stomach the idea of owning a physical copy
Wouldnt blame the devs if the last patch includes the addition of bill boards throughout the game with something like "F U MS"....
(Then MS will patch the game to turn the billboards into adverts...)
Considering it’s LRG doing physical a copy who fire someone for wanting to play a game I’ll highly pass.
Which we were getting a proper physical version
@Dragoon1994 I have to balance my dislike of LRG with my desire to have a copy of this game in my hands.
So far, unless LRG does something else INTENSELY stupid, having the game wins for me. By a hair.
@dskatter
Oh I see I ain’t buying anything physical from them, as much as I’d want JP collection physically I refuse to buy anything from those scummy buffoon’s
Wish it wasn’t Limited Run, scummy company
@Dragoon1994 Agreed for the most part. I’ve disliked them for a long time, but I had to have my Scott Pilgrim physical version. >.<
I’ve only made two purchases with them, this will be the third. They’ve really, really lost focus on what they were supposed to be doing.
@dskatter
Very true indeed, I’ve heard they have been getting worse recently too.
I really like how they did the physical of Scott pilgrim in the style of Sonic Adventure’s logo but I didn’t get it, at least back then they weren’t being scummy
Won’t be buying
Can someone explain me what is the problem with Limited Run Games? Maybe it's a Xbox thing but I'm ignorant here.
@B0udoir some of the problems with them:
I belive these are the big issues people currently have with LRG.
@Tobiaku Summed it up beautifully!
@dskatter I think frmknst was just joking
LRG is heating up the dvd-r burners 😂
They struck gold having this release and I'm sure it'll be one of their most successful ones. I sure hope they don't f* up like they usually do. Each time I ordered from them the cover design was laughable and the shipping way to high. Tbh, they're really scummy and their mission is definitely not game preservation.
@tameshiyaku Its not going to fix their covers, but videogamesplus.ca has a lot of LRG titles and offer free shipping if you you buy a few games. They are legit and don’t charge scalper prices
@Tobiaku Thanks for the heads up. I'm sure to check it out if I'm on the lookout. I'm in Europe so most of the limited print games end up in retail here anyways after some time has passed. If not then it's usually available at play Asia.
@tameshiyaku Another thing tgat might interest you, Doug (one of the founders of LRG, and who left LRG last year) is starting a new limited print company called Rock it games.
