Elden Ring's first and only expansion, Shadow of the Erdtree, is almost upon us, with the eagerly-anticipated offering available on PS5 and PS4 on 21st June. To properly set the stage, Bandai Namco and FromSoftware have released a trailer that sets the stage for the journey to come, without spoilers, in a reasonably concise fashion.
Set in a broken age, the story of Elden Ring is a tale of demigods fighting over the scraps that remain and the inevitable stagnation caused by such a stalemate. As a Tarnished, one banished from The Lands Between long ago, you are tasked with gathering the shards of the titular Elden Ring. Over the course of this dark odyssey, a Tarnished becoming powerful enough to crown themselves as Elden Lord is the only way to break this bleak cycle, one way or another.

Are you among the minority of Elden Ring players ready to jump straight into Shadow of the Erdtree? Are you starting this journey fresh, or do you have unfinished business in The Lands Between? Let us know in the comments section below.

That was a great trailer. I still don’t know what’s going on, but I’m sure I’m going to love it.
@Kraven same
I already moved my main character to where I need to be to start the DLC once it drops.
I definitely need to knock some of the rust off my main character as I haven't really played it since I got all the Achievements (I cheesed the Ending Achievements by cutting off the game right during the credits so I could go back and make a different choice before the game Auto-saved).
Over 140 hours played and never finished the damn game lol… but I can definitely jump into the Shadow of the Erdtree with my super-powered wizard God!!! 👽
Well now I know what Elden Ring is actually about. I honestly had no idea. (Even though I love the game!)
No trophies… I’m not playing it now... It was literally my most anticipated “game” this year. I’ll just wait for steep sale. Maybe I’ll enjoy it even without trophies, but I doubt it
It’s my fav game of all time, my first ever platinum trophy and IMO just an all round masterpiece….still no clue what is going on though.
Well, your big main man is also his wife, and s/he caused the shattering because someone (you know!) assassinated their favourite god/child, in order to disrupt the... order (the golden order, that is!). A bunch of crones, led by some giant fingers, point the way to follow the order, but everyone is also trying to destabilise it? All roads point to the erdtree, but a lowly tarnished isn't welcome, so you burn it all down anyway, and only once you've solved/ smashed the riddle, and united the great runes can you choose which path to follow...
