Being an open world game, we fully expected Star Wars Outlaws to boast a lengthy runtime, and that's been pretty much confirmed. In an interview with VGC, creative director Julian Gerighty reveals that the main story will take you roughly 25-30 hours to complete. Meanwhile, if you're looking to 100% Kay Vess' adventure, you can probably double that runtime.
"Very, very early on, we decided this is going to be a 25, 30 hours golden path adventure, 50 hours, 60 hours for completionists, and that is, for a guy with a family and a job, it’s still a fair amount of time," Gerighty explains.
Interestingly, he goes on to mention Assassin's Creed — a series where recent instalments have been absolutely colossal (the smaller Assassin's Creed Mirage aside). "But it’s not Assassin’s Creed epic, 200 hours’ worth of gameplay, so that allows us to really focus on the detail, it allows us to focus, maybe with a smaller team, on executing something that is manageable."
It would seem Gerighty's aware of common complaints that titles like Assassin's Creed Valhalla are just way too big, and so he's obviously trying to assure potential players that Outlaws won't subscribe to the same blueprint.

Sounds perfect 👍🏼
Sounds good, I really don't want games that last 50h just to play through the story. I would be satisfied with 15-20h for a full priced game.
I'm looking forward to it, lots of nice collectibles.
25-30, for me, is 40-50 anyway, as I never rush these games and want to take in the details. And that feels about right for this, to be honest. I'm hoping it is good enough to want to replay missions for different factions or in different ways too 🙏😁
AC Mirage was listed as 15-17 and I've already played about 23 hours worth in recent weeks, and have only killed 2 of the major targets, I think.
Valhalla was a 60 hour main story, though, which gets very spread out to push those numbers up and up and up even for the people who wanted to mainline it, and that was the problem there, I expect, it wasn't really one you could mainline if you chose to. And, if you slow played it, it really did leap up to a 150-200 hour game 😅
Thank god Ubi is getting the message with an IP this big. 200 hours is such a massive commitment for many adults these days and I know I sure as hell don’t have the time.
Hope this turns out good, people I trust have liked it but obviously there’s plenty of others who didn’t. Someone outside of respawn needs to help save Star Wars.
God I want this to be good!
This has shot right to the top of my excitement-list! Yes some journo’s have voiced some gripes within their previews but that showcase ticked all my boxes… can’t wait!
Actually just listened to kinda funny and Greg was really impressed with it. Even making the uncharted reference as a positive.
I think these days alot of journos are looking at every game to be a masterclass and a complex system for it to be good.
When reality is. A decent story a fun gameplay loop and that's all we want.
We don't need every game to be a complex masterclass.
Trailer sold me and Greg has cemented my hype for this game
That shot of Tattooine at night with headlights of the scooter lighting the way had me going feral.
Perfect, sounds spot on to me. I don't care what anyone says, I'm looking forward to this one.
I looking for that game, hoping to be so good as Jedi series.
That wasn't even enough time to complete Act 1 in Baldur's Gate 3.
