![Exoprimal End Support](https://images.pushsquare.com/c3fe62f22cef7/exoprimal-end-support.900x.jpg)
Roughly one year after its release on PS5 and PS4, Capcom has announced that it's ending support for Exoprimal. To be clear, the action-shooter will remain online and nothing's getting taken away from players — but there won't be any new content coming beyond the end of Season 4, which cuts off on the 11th July. After that date, Capcom will simply rotate the game back through its previous seasons.
"Thank you for playing Exoprimal. With the release of Title Update 4, all planned Exoprimal seasonal content has been finished," writes the developer in an official statement. "After Season 4, which concludes on July 11th, Season 1 will return. From there, a new season will begin on the first of each month. In addition, Season Passes 1-3 will be available for sale again. This will allow players to obtain items from all seasons."
Again, Capcom stresses that nothing is being removed from the experience: "All gameplay modes will remain available to play. This includes the main Dino Survival mode, as well as endgame content such as Savage Gauntlet and Time Loop Rebellion. If you're playing alone or match with only a few other players, Bots (AI-controlled Exofighters) will still be added so that you can fully enjoy the Hammerheads' story and reach the ending."
Exoprimal enjoyed good-but-not-great reviews at launch, although a lot of players were quick to point out just how fun it was to actually play. Still, it felt like a relatively niche release — especially when compared to Capcom's other well-known properties — and this decision to end new content support, having delivered on its planned seasons, suggests that the game never really attracted an audience beyond its core fans.

damn…..i forgot about this game
I completely forgot about this game. It amazes me that they went through all of the effort to make a dinosaur game in RE Engine and didn't make the game that their fans wanted, instead going with the live service slop. At least they can maybe recycle some assets if they do remake Dino Crisis.
@nomither6 ur not the only one 😅
I am shocked. SHOCKED.
Well, not that shocked.
Hopefully this marks the beginning of the end for Free-to-Play/LIVE-SERVICE games.
No problem, they don't have to keep adding content to all multiplayer games for years. I miss the times of distinct releases that were allowed to have their time and fade.
@ImGame69 Two F2P games just launched this week to great numbers.
Exoprimal isnt free to play
I'd forgotten all about this game...this article made me realise I didn't even know it had launched 😂
@ImGame69 it’s not. As long as games like Fortnite, Apex Legends, Warzone continue to exist and bring huge numbers, F2P/ Live service games will never end.
First dud of the new Capgod era
Next month PS plus incoming
@DennisReynolds : So Helldivers 2 and according to Steam latest report it has lost 90% of its player base.
A good start, doesn't mean a long lasting trajectory.
@ImGame69 unfortunately some devs don't care about a long lasting trajectory, as they usually make a profit within the first few months via microtransactions and in HellDivers 2's case actual sales. Some publishers throw out these live service games as a quick way to get some revenue and if it's a hit then that's a bonus.
They should have used the resources and made a dino crisis remake.
This game came out?
I’m sure the 3 people still playing will be disappointed
Think it was pretty obvious from the jump this one wasn't going to last long. Servers will probably be offline next year
Phew, good thing I didn't purchase it on discount last week.
I actually own this, but I've still never played it and also forgot it existed.
I really enjoyed it, shame they didn't add more trophies to keep me coming back.
Sounds like it's about time for this to be a Plus game. I'd give it a shot.
Too many Anthem vibes all over this...
I'm glad Capcom is willing to experiment some, but this title just wasn't appealing to me at all.
Ok this just inspired me. How about a battle royale where everyone picks a different dinosaur and you see whos number 1? Different dinos have different advantages... someone get at me to produce this please
I do want to play this at some point but there’s too much else out there that looks better. Besides, it looks like the kind of game that would get repetitive and thus boring fairly quickly. If it ever comes to Plus though I’d be willing to give it a shot.
Uhh.. Exo- what now?
Time for Dino Crisis remake
I'm surprised it survived so long...
@ImGame69 Still sold 12 million copies with returning investments from players for a cheaper to make game isnt that bad. If you look at Injustice 200 million budget and a failure from day one.
A fake Dino Crisis with a fake Regina this game was such a disappointment.
To the live service graveyard you go. 😆
@DennisReynolds "Two F2P games just launched this week to great numbers."
Most F2P games launch to good/great numbers, it has to be a bum ass game to not have a decent launch. The problem is the player base starts to fade in a couple of months and the game is dead by the end of the year. Don't make me name all the games that this has happened to, I don't want to make a thesis long post.
Maybe Capcom, just maybe, you should give the people what they actually want, a new Dino Crisis game.
Next on the chopping block: concord
@Tecinthebrain exactly and even though no one wants to admit it, a perfect example of this in recent memory is Hell divers 2. With a 90 reduction in active players in just a handful of months
Pretty much the only 'meh' title Capcom has dropped in recent years...I forgot it existed tbh. Hope they give us the Dino game we all are asking for next.
Sucks but not surprised. Knowing how Capcom treated their Resident Evil multiplayer titles, I figured this game wouldn't have lated that long. I don't think the game is bad but it really just cements the fact of how much everyone are desperate for a new Dino Crisis game.
@KundaliniRising333 i love how it hasn't even released yet , no offense just because a game doesn't interest you doesn't mean it shouldn't exist. i'm excited to try out the beta when it comes out and i hope it is good.
I would have been very interested in Exoprimal if the PvP was optional. I'm strictly a PvE player, and forced PvP meant that I would never play.
Capcom deserves credit for this one. They didn’t force Dino crisis into a live service game, they tried to make a new ip. With all the success they have been having from their other games love to see new IPs at least be attempted.
For the full of hits capcom, this dud got shoved under the rug pretty quick.
Pretty sure they will remake or reboot dino crisis now. The only notoriety this game got was from the fact one of the characters looked like regina and everyone assumed dino crisis.
@ImGame69 Live service and F2P are not gonna disappear.
MMORPG is a part of live service games and millions of people still playing it for years like WoW, FF XI /XIV, etc.
Fighting games also a live service games or possibly one of the oldest live service game with all the balance update, new characters, stages, costumes etc with new version and it still exist for more than three decades.
The same as DLC, season pass, or early access. These practice will not disappear.
Anyway...this game actually looks fun. If only Capcom include a solid story campaign mode.
I doubt anyone is surprised by this.
@ImGame69 I wouldn't count on it.
@PuppetMaster the lines are being blurred between multiplayer and live service these days. several years ago live service meant "online only" games with zero offline/offline single-player content.
imagine if they'd used this budget to just make Dino Crisis...idiots
If you're going to make a live service game then be prepared to support it long term and don't think of it like an easy cash grab. Otherwise if you're not prepared to support it don't make it.
Personally I think this shouldn't be legal. I feel if a live service game releases then the publisher/developer should be required and obligated to support it for at least 3 years especially if it's not free to play.
First Anthem didn't get any long term support, and now this. And that feels wrong especially when people paid money for the game expecting it to be supported.
Personally, I'm disappointed their resources went into this and not Dino Crisis.
@Malaise you can try it for free with plus
