At this point, the PS5 is living up to its alternative moniker of GachaStation 5, as it’s becoming the place to play many of the biggest gacha games. Riding on the coattails of Zenless Zone Zero, Chinese outfit Hotta Studio – the team behind Tower of Fantasy – has announced its next big project: supernatural urban fantasy RPG Neverness to Everness, which is being powered by Unreal Engine 5.

The game is being pitched as a mix of “ordinary and extraordinary”, so you can expect a combination of lifestyle sim and pulsating character-driven combat. The gameplay footage embedded within showcases how you’ll be facing off against some unusual foes, such as a vending machine dramatically brought to life as an aggressive phantom.

In addition to fighting, you’ll also be able to purchase and customise sports cars, manage businesses, and even own your own city apartment. The game’s open world metropolis Hethereau appears to pull from a variety of different real-life locations: Tokyo, London, and San Francisco can all be observed within its vibrant layout. There’s dynamic weather and a day/night cycle, too.

There’s certainly potential here, although the release isn’t trying to hide its similarities to Genshin Impact, as the user interface looks almost identical. We do like the idea of a more Grand Theft Auto flavour, however, and the vehicles definitely add something a little different. Pre-registration for the game is available now, although there’s no release date just yet.
