Free-to-play shooter The First Descendant has drawn massive crowds in its first week live, with publisher Nexon pronouncing that some 10 million players have already checked out the game.
Noted by Insider Gaming, with no upfront cost, it remains to be seen how many of those players will stick around, but it's still an impressive number from a new IP. On Steam alone, it peaked at 264,860 concurrents right after launch and still managed to crack 200,000 in the last 24 hours, so it seems there is still a sizable contingent of players glued to the game.
We called The First Descendant a "mindless and repetitive grind," giving it a 3/10 in our review. That's just one opinion, of course, which has been split amongst other pundits. Most cite the game's onerous free-to-play model as particularly aggravating, however.
Are you among the millions who booted up The First Descendant last week? Do you think you will be coming back for more? Let us know in the comments section below.

It’s extremely impressive for a free-to-play: great graphics, decent story, gameplay that really drives that ‘one more mission’ addictiveness.
In other words, it’s anything but a 3/10
probably more than will play concord
I don't understand as the game is supposed to be very generic and boring...I must be enjoying a different game and so must the other 10 million..I'm glad those 10 million didn't take the time to read pushsquares mini skim-review of this one.
Butts too big/10. I'm gonna play Concord instead, haters.
Utterly shameless rip off of Warframe, Destiny and Outriders. It’s not bad, but just not as good as those three. However playing it, whatever fun there is just leaves a sour taste in my mouth whenever I realise how bad the plagiarism is.
@FinneasGH Yeah whenever I played TFD I just felt like I could be playing Warframe that feels better to play. You have better mobility options, better melee options(And especially when it changes the way the combos work on each of the melee weapons depending on the mod that you get), and a more interesting story to it. Genuinely if the grappling hook for TFD actually had physics to it and let me around with it, shoot while grappling, while flying off of it I would've forgiven the lack of a slide and dive mechanic.
@Northern_munkey couldn't agree more, I'm not bored by any repetition at all and having a great time playing. I just wish I could colour the base outfits so everyone looked different.
"But how many will stick around?"
I'm guessing more than Concord.
And I was one of them! For an hour-ish, but I’ll never come back. Thought the game was boring, but it was free, so why not try it? I’m sure freeness has a lot to do with this number.
So many issues, a major one being the ammo that's dropped from enemies or rather lack of it, it's so annoying I can't even be bothered to play anymore, got to lvl 21 but I just can't continue, for this alone that review score of 3 doesn't seem that far off now
Still enjoying it as a casual play. It might be my new goto for a quick 20 min game play. It has been a long time for me with Star Wars Battlefront 2 as that type of game. This seems to fill that adequately.
It won't last...watch
I was playing this with a few friends yesterday. Monetization: lame. Story: meh. Cutscenes: meh. Mission structure: meh. Movement: great. Gunplay: super punchy and fun!
This is a great game with friends. Don't know how long it'll last and I doubt I'll spend any money on it, but if the whales wanna subsidize my fun, then I'm here for it!
@Anke my one complaint is that my custom look isn’t reflected in the cut scenes
It has a lot of nonsense that typically comes with free-to-play games and it's not close to perfect but 3/10 is beyond ridiculous. One of the very rare times I vehemently disagree with PushSquare.
Curious to see how long this will last until the "Nexon Tax" kicks in
@scoobdoo ahh that's intriguing, I wonder why?
