Earning the Platinum Trophy in Whoopee Camp’s iconic PS1 classic Tomba! won’t be a walk in the Village of All Beginnings. You’ll need to do everything in the game to unlock the game’s prestigious silver-blue gong, including completing all 130 in-game events. While speed runners can get all this done in around 90 minutes or so, it’s going to take the average player up to 10 hours to do.
Tomba! is being re-released on PS5 and PS4 utilising Limited Run Games’ Carbon Engine, which means you can expect some quality of life improvements, like save states and rewind. You’ll also find an exclusive interview with series creator Tokuro Fujiwara. And once you’re done with the original game, its sequel will also be getting the re-release treatment at a later date.
The platformer first launched in 1997, and was published worldwide by Sony. Despite selling fairly poorly, it quickly established itself as a cult classic, and cleared a number of legal loopholes to receive a re-release on the PS3 in 2012. This new version is due out digitally on 1st August for PS5, with physical editions still available to pre-order from Limited Run Games.

So keen. Is the ps4 releasing later than the ps5 version still?
Buy day one for me
I remember playing a bit of this game back on PSOne. But is this game generally easy?
I played the original PS1 version for the first time recently. Hate to tell everyone, but that game's bad.
Mooooo moooo mooooo! Everyone give a nice moo to yourselves.
Saw this pop up in PSNProfiles last night. Cant wait to earn this platinum.
@Markatron84 nooooope. The game is legendary. Also brilliant.
@naruball Really? I thought it was arse.
@Markatron84 In all seriousness, fair enough. How far along did you get?
I just beat this game on steam deck a few weeks ago. All 130 missions in 8.5 hours.
I don't know how well it holds up but I absolutely loved that game on PS1
I adore Tombi! I spent so many hours playing the demo over and over before finally finding an over priced pre-owned copy in my local game store.
Call yourself British Sammy? It's Tombi over here
