Black Myth: Wukong has looked brilliant since its debut years ago, and it continues to do so in the last trailer before release. The game launches on 20th August on PS5, and to whet our appetites before then, we have this nearly five-minute video to drum up more hype.
The trailer is all in-game footage, firstly showcasing various locations present in the adventure before diving into combat against foes big and small. We also get a look at meditation, cutscenes, characters, and of course, some very intense-looking bosses. It all looks very impressive; here's hoping the PS5 version can hold steady.
With less than two weeks to go, are you excited for Black Myth: Wukong? What do you think of this trailer? Go ape in the comments section below.

Wow. That's all I can say. Can't wait to play it
Fantastic trailer, its going on a list but will definately pick it up at some point.
@breakneck Avowed has been pushed back to next year, a lot coming in the next few months for sure though.
Will Tripitaka be in the game? And Sandy and Pigsy?
It looks absolutely stunning. Based on the trailer, it might be the most beautiful game I've seen so far. It probably helps that it's not a huge open-world game, which likely made it easier to achieve such amazing graphics and details.
I’m curious to see how it performs on the PS5 since it definitely wasn’t recorded on that, despite the SONY logo and all.
I'm going to have to wait and see more gameplay. If it's as hard as a Souls like then I'll probably end up giving it a miss, but if the difficulty is more forgiving then I'll definitely be picking it up.
When will @pushsquare be reviewing it?
Im hyped but also worried itll be like eldren ring where i regret the £50 quid spent and i rage because i can't do it
Hopefully theres going to be a reference to the 96 tv show. Perhaps a costume/armor or two?
Amazing , can't wait to start playing it. Pre-order done
Im looking forward to reading reviews on this.
It looks very good, but does the actual gameplay hold up just as well?
I actually have less concern about the gameplay as I do the story delivery. Journey to the West is a classic tale and has been the inspiration for many other games and shows before, but many haven’t been successful at it. The trailer shows some really great visuals and dynamic looking gameplay but is stitched together a bit randomly. Like that last sequence after the release date and preorder information seemed a bit out of place. There is just a basic difference between Eastern and Western storytelling styles, so that might affect things.
@breakneck I agree, they're a really talented dev team.
The game was first announced here on 20th August 2020 and will be finally released on 20th August 2024. Four years to the date. Development times, uh.
No lie this is a game that could have easily been a launch title for the PS5 Pro, I could definitely see it benefiting off the Pro as well.
More interested in Astrobot thanks, definitely waiting for reviews on this one.
With a reported running length of 15 hours I'm holding fire until reviews drop
Each trailer makes the game look better and better.
Still no news on physical versions with discs yet though which I’m patiently waiting for
Is thus another soulslike game or a normal game that I can play?
From the previews I've watched it seems like this game is largely a boss rush game in the disguise of a souls-like. If true that would be disappointing but it makes sense given the higher fidelity visuals than usual, especially coming from a studio with no console game history which would explain the restricted game design.
Black myth wu kong is going to be a instant hit.this game have been looking good since the debut trailer.word up son
@code45709 We plan on reviewing it ahead of release, but it all depends on when we actually get access to it. Sadly out of our hands right now, but we'll do our best!
@riceNpea haha after seeing that character I was gonna say something about monkey magic but didn’t think many here would be old enough 🤣 loved that show!
I hope it plays as good as it looks. The music is fantastic, been waiting on this one for awhile. I hope it is more impressive than Rise of the Ronin which I was set to order but after reviews I decided to pass.
@ShogunRok thanks for the reply, looking forward to the review 👍
Hope I'll manage to finish it before Astro Bot.
This looks insane. Can’t believe it’s only 12 days away!
Looks amazing but if it’s another soulslike with no difficulty options then I’ll pass.
@Steel76 I can appreciate this, and would imagine you’re not alone. I’m assuming there will be an option for you to adjust this if you’re looking to play without these blur effects (I think FF16 did too if I’m not mistaken?).
For some of us, I think these effects add a sense of thrill and simulation to intense combat, I personally become more immersed as a result. But totally understand not everyone does…. Hopefully there’s something in settings or accessibility to tweak in the game if you’re interested in playing
@WhiteRabbit you make a good point, its currently $20 on clearance at the local walmart might be worth looking into.
Realistically, unless this game has had a really misleading advertising campaign, this looks like it’s entering my top 10 games for the year day 1 of release. I can’t believe it’s finally so soon to play this, really looking forward to it. The busy season approaches.
Wukong then Astro then Zelda then Dragon Ball then LiS then AC Shadows for me, pending Indy and Plucky Squire, of course. And I’m still contemplating Silent Hill and Metaphor too. What a line-up this year after such a drought (for me, at least).
I still need to play Stellar Blade first
no disc, no buy
@Frmknst it's not a souls like game you nit...
@Bagwag82 from what I've managed to deduce this is more action orientated and not a souls like game.
Visually stunning, but there's a feeling of "meh" about the gameplay that i just can't shake. 🤷🏻♂️
I hope there will be a demo. If it is souls like I for sure skip it as I have enough frustrations to deal with in daily life, otherwise I am very interested as it looks stunning.
Heck yeah. I hope it’s perform well on ps5. Excited
I've not preordered anything for a while, but this game looks amazing. The trailer absolutely sold it for me.
@Northern_munkey thank you 😊
@ShogunRok did you got it?
