Originally released for PC in 2022 (and Xbox Series X|S in 2023), Warhammer 40,000: Darktide could be making its way to PS5 in the relatively near future. As spotted by Gematsu, the title has been rated for Sony's system in Taiwan — which is often a sign that things are in motion.
Darktide is from Fatshark, the same developer that brought us the largely fantastic Warhammer: Vermintide 2 on PS4, and it follows the same kind of co-op-focused, mission-based structure. Unlike Vermintide, however, Darktide takes place in Warhammer's 40k universe — the same universe as Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2.
Darktide has had some ups and downs since its initial launch. At first, the game was quite heavily criticised for a lack of content, with many players claiming that it was pretty much unfinished. Naturally, the title has received a load of updates since then, although it never seemed to completely recover from that early barrage of negativity. Still, its brutal first-person, action-shooter combat remains a highlight.

Hopefully not to long then
Have played it on Series X and it really is a great game. Glad to hear it’s coming to PS5!
Looking forward to this game! I love vermintide 2. The game launched on october 2023 on xbox. I guess it was a one-year exclusivity deal
Vermintide was great, looking forward to this as can never get enough 40k.
Been playing this on PC since release and honestly, I think Vermintide II is still better. I would love Fatshark to have another crack and do something with Cursed City, I think that would make a great co-op game in the same style as Vermintide.
This is old news. A PS5 version has been confirmed already on FS forums a while ago. Definitely prefer this game over Space Marine 2
Good news, it’s a good game and it’s in a good spot rn. Just a shame it launched in a less then ideal state on PC.
@windxtravelerx Space Marine 2 was a 7/10 up until the last level which I think elevated it to an 8. It's decent but it's not as good as some other third person games I've played over the past 15 years. I do think if you took away the Warhammer license, it wouldn't be getting as much attention as it has been. I think Rogue Trader and Mechanicus are the 40K games that deserve the most praise.
It still does have a lack of content and a poor playerbase
@Deityjester releasing as a timed exclusive definitely didn't help playerbase numbers. Do you think Vermintide 2 has more players or should I just wait for Darktide?
wish they'd make a PS5 version of Vermintide 2 but I'll take this
@SlipperyFish if you wanna go by Steam numbers its about 2.8k on average but obviously doesn't count for a console. I played V2 off and on and never had an issue finding people to play with. Darktide on PC has about 4k players.
@pharos_haven maybe I'll just install V2 then
Was a horrific mess performance wise on PC when it first came out, lets hope they dont repeat that mistake on PS5
I'd been waiting for news of this, but now I've got SM2, not sure I'd have time to put into it.
