Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered was recently revealed to a mixed reception, but that $10 upgrade option appears to have won over most Push Square punters. Dedicated support studio Nixxes is at the project's helm, assisting in enhancing Guerilla's open-world action game for PS5. In an interesting turn of phrase, one dev recently said, in reference to Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered: "After five PlayStation PC ports, the first big PlayStation content project from Nixxes Software is coming up!"
The tidbit is about a week old, but it was spotted on LinkedIn and posted on the popular forum ResetEra overnight. We could be reading into things a bit here, but that phrasing certainly sounds like more "content projects" are planned. We verified the post, which remains up at the time of writing, and so who knows, with rumours of a Days Gone remaster starting to snowball, perhaps Sony truly does plan to keep simply refreshing its past hits.
What do you think? Are you up for some more "big PlayStation content projects"? Keep going back to that same old well in the comments section below.

Gravity Rush might also be one of them.
I'm happy to see Nixxes ramp up remasters around PC and PlayStation. Can't wait to see what else they do to free up resources for the other studios.
Just keep churning out that PC content, Sony.
I already got rid of the Series X, so give me a reason to ditch my PS5 next!
I'll still support Sony's games; I just want nothing to do with the rest of it.
remasters remakes and sequels how about some new IP sony
Resistance, Killzone.
@trev666 Stellar Blade, Rise of the Ronin, the first proper "flat" Astro Bot...
@MrPeanutbutterz only one of those is actually made by a sony studio and the recent astro is a sequel making it the 5th astrobot game
@MrPeanutbutterz and there’s a few other stuff too
@trev666 You mean like Concord?
@PuppetMaster that is indeed a sony first party new IP
The problem with SONY isn't that Nixxes are earning their pay by updating/porting games.
Firewalk, Haven, Bend and Naughty Dog are the black sheep of the family. Neil D ruined Naughty Dog for me, SONY ruined Bend for me and Haven and Firewalk seem like total dead weights bordering a scam like that guy with vapour ware that Pushsquare loved to gossip about.
How much longer are they going to waste hundreds of millions paying them for zero returns? Even if SONY rightly shuts the studios down, they usually give every employee something similar to a golden parachute with extended healthcare and the US made sure that their health care is the most expensive in the world.
Genuinely really want Gravity Rush 2 on PC
@trev666 Yes. Did you bought Concord?
@EfYI How Sony ruined Bend Studios?
Nixxes also did "original" work on Concord as some of the maps were made by them.
@GamingFan4Lyf "I'll still support Sony's games; I just want nothing to do with the rest of it."
Yep exactly that. I like Sony the studio. But they've killed any interest I had in PS as a platform.
I would like to see some first party games on the ps5. I'm enjoying the ps5 games that non Sony devs are producing but I'd really like some Sony games. As for games being ported to the PC..who cares? Let people play them on the pc if that's what they wish. We have been playing these games for years already so how does it impact ps4/ps5 owners? It dosnt so I don't understand when people get upset about it. Maybe buy or build a rig so you don't feel left out or betrayed by Sony.
Where is my Max Payne !!! I am so waiting for that.
I'd be up for some new games, in fact, enough with the dust-up of old releases...
Not to mention that Sony's total 1st party portfolio is not infinite, they'll run out of material sooner rather than later.
What are they gonna work on for the PS6, Re-Re-Remasters?
Nixxes should be upgraded to work on new content, new IP's or at least sequels, as they are clearly very talented.
I love these upgrades – it's like movies that were released on VHS, then on DVD's, then on FullHD Blu-ray, and now on 4K Blu-Ray.
Same content, but just a better overall experience. I still haven't played Days Gone and I would love to play it with full PS5 Pro support instead of playing a PS4 game on my PS5 Pro. (Even with the 60p update)
@mrmartinrohr I've still need to witness a movie where I can tell the actual difference between 2k and 4k. Most movies are just upscaled and not natively 4k and special effects are usually still rendered in 2k within Hollywood.
The only upgrade I'm happier with so far was lord of the rings, but that was only because the colour grading on the 2k version was hideous and Peter Jackson fixed it for 4k. The res didn't make much of a difference however.
I imagine things like planet earth could look better but haven't tested it yet.
I'm happy for them to assign remasters to Nixxes as opposed to firstparty game devs, and I have no problem with the 10 bucks upgrade path, hopefully they cement this as the standard, I'm not paying 60/70 bucks for PS4 remasters, most of those games hold up on current gen, if it's just a cheap quality of life improvement for exisiting owners, no problem.
Sony, if you're going to do more "remasters", how about a game or series that's older than PS4? Something where there will be a genuine reason to upgrade.
Motorstorm 1, 2 and 3
Resistance 1, 2 and 3
Killzone 1, 2 and 3
God of War 1, 2, Ascension and Origins
Infamous
Ratchet and Clank Collection
Sly Collection
Heavenly Sword (although I'm not sure who owns the IP with Ninja Theory being part of Xbox)
I would happily pay a decent price for any of these.
Don't believe I'm going to say this, but I hope this studio doesn't get to remake Bloodborne. I would LOVE a Bloodborne remaster/remake, but not with the Horizon glowup. That would ruin the game 100% for me. BB is meant to be dark, chromatic and nightmarish. Not superglowy like Horizon remaster.
I wish they could release some remasters that actually matters, like Infamous 1 and 2 (although most would argue that this won't ever happen because of the PS3's architecture), Killzone trilogy or even PS2 games like Sly, God of War or Ratchet and Clank. Who knows, maybe one day
If they do a really good Pro performance mode i will probably get this at £10 an upgrade - its been ages since i played the 1st game and though i never thought it was close to GOW or SM i could give it another run.
Is the remaster also £10 To upgrade on steam as well I got it free with my Ryzen 3600 at the time well I git it free but had to wait for it to launch on pc first what a disaster that was
I like the sound of that, not JUST getting them working on PC ports but also upgrading for PlayStation, in turn freeing up other devs to work on new games.
For the love of god bloodborne has to be one of them otherwise what’s the point
Oh god, remaster city.
Wake me up when some new content arrives
They should start remastering all those killer PS3 and PS4 titles for PS5 and Pro. All the Killzones, Resistance Fall of Man, Uncharted, etc
I'm glad to see that there also doing console stuff being able to know the hardware should help when they develop pc ports even better now
Then why remaster Days Gone? OOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOO!!!!!!
@trev666 Does it really matter that much who the developers are? Were you telling everyone in 1995 that Ridge Racer and Tekken were irrelevant because they weren't made by Sony? Did you write Crash Bandicoot off because ND were third party? Is the original FF7 not a true icon of 1990s PlayStation because it's not a Sony game?
You want original games to play, one way or another Sony have handed you a bunch of them this year.
@Yousef- Yep - Concord (I bought it lol), Black Myth Wukong is an accidental console exclusive. Isn't Silent Hill 2 Remake also console exclusive?
I dunno people who claim there's not enough new games must have 25 hours in their day and be awake for all of it.
@cuttlefishjones while i would love that killzone and resistance didn't sell enough copies
@EfYI i'd love to hear why sony bend? they are currently working on one of their biggest games yet , and sony gave them their biggest budget to work with.
Did people have this same anti-remaster energy when the Nathan Drake collection was released on PS4 a meager 8 years after the first Uncharted came out on PS3 (and a mere four years after Uncharted 3 released)? A graphical remaster package that they charged full price for and stripped multiplayer out entirely? That collection basically charged you $20 per game to 'upgrade' to a version that had a major component stripped out of it!
If you didn't complain about that, then shut the hell up about a $10 remaster upgrade for a game that will be 7 years, 8 months old when it releases. I see people in here asking for yet another remaster of the Uncharted trilogy and all I can do is laugh. Do you not realize that would be the exact same thing people bitched at Sony about regarding TLOU? They released TLOU, then made a remaster for PS4, then a re-remaster for PS5. They made a remaster collection for Uncharted for PS4 and people want them to do it again?
Remasters bad, or remasters good? Pick one. Part of me wants to buy the HZD remaster just to spite all the irrational haters the game has.
It's pretty scummy how they more than doubled the price of a 7 year old ps4 game to stop people getting it cheap and getting a cheaper upgrade path and then also removing the base game forsale on PC and requiring a PSN account just so they can sell more data/increase their internal metrics for PSN
@Nydius except for the uncharted games are a much more import series, that are liked alot more and are also better than the horizon games.
Sonys push on a series that no one seems all that intreasted in, a remaster that very few people want, doubling the price of the base games, forcing psn and taking the OG game down forsale on PC is very different than remaster of some of the most important and live PlayStation games ever.
Looking forward to this as really enjoyed this on my PS4.
@Nydius Because the PS4 wasn't backwards compatible like the PS5 is, and a ton of PS4 owners never owned a PS3.
Same reason I'm cool with Switch ports of Wii U games.
they invested in nixxes to do games like these. for console and pc. people want stuff to play in between major releases this is it. also as much as i would love to see resistance , killzone or even infamous to be remastered , sadly those games didn't really sell too well for sony to care about them.
@Stickleman be like me and just don't buy them. I'm pretty happy that I bought a PC. After all of Sony's shenanigans, I'm ready to leave them behind. They can revisit the golden days of the PS4 all they want, but I'm ready for some new titles. Price gouging consumers for games they've already played is about all they're good for these days. Plus, if PSN or your internet is down you can't play their single player games. Not worth the money imo
@Stickleman How is "no one interested in" in Horizon? Zero Dawn and Forbidden West have sold about 34 million copies combined. Meanwhile Uncharted has sold 44 million copies, and that includes four main games and two compilations.
They got bought for doing those. It's not that other IP's can't be made. The will only get better at it.
Haven't been able to read the whole thread but I saw Socom, Motorstorm, ... PS3 titles as a rumor. If true, a better choice than games who don't need a Remaster/Remake.
Well if Nixxes will manage the remasters thing then it's fine as it won't require resources from the main studios.
@EfYI
How did Neil D 'ruin' Naughty Dog? I keep hearing this. He's the reason they got the last of us series, something that has made them far more than the 'uncharted' company.
Remasters and Remakes of Tlou are certainly not his decision, nor was Factions cancellation. So if anything, you've got Sony leadership like hulst to blame for the current output.
@reek So when Neil is quoted for saying they didn't want to become the TLOU-studio, you don't think he had a say?🤔
