More than a month after the USA and one week following the European rollout, PS5 owners in the UK are now beginning to see the new Welcome page appear on their console's home screen. Designed as a quick look at everything going on concerning your friends, PlayStation itself, and your system's battery lives, the widget should automatically appear on the home screen a second or two after you boot the PS5 up.
This scribe has already got to customising their Welcome page, placing a lovely Astro Bot image in the background and prioritising friends online and their activities, along with storage space and the controller's battery life. There are a few other backgrounds you can currently choose from, or you can use a picture you've screenshotted yourself from the media gallery.
Have you got the new Welcome page, and how will you customise it to suit your needs? Let us know in the comments below.

Well it's about time!
I wonder how much use I'll actually get out of this, but it looks cool at least
Why there is no option to disable it Sorry, but for me there is 0 use for that, it just takes space.
Atleast managed to create 3 small tabs at bottom of Welcome page, so atleast it looks "empty".
Mine just randomly appeared last night in between shutting down Silent Hill 2 and firing up GT7 for some daily’s. A “welcome” addition for sure but come on Sony! Isn’t the UK one of you’re biggest customers 😏
Best GUI is now the Nintendo Switch.
PS5 is getting a bit cluttered now.
Xbox not that good at all.
@OldGamer999 PS5 too barren for me. Liked the busy interfaces of PS4 & PS3 the most
I took most of the tabs off, the controller icon and storage space is good so I kept them on, but as a single player person I turned off friends and stuff.
Wish they would change that bloody twilighy zone esque music that plays on the dashboard.
@OldGamer999 @ProfessorNiggle PS3 and PS4 beat them all....still.
@Jrs1 Turned mine off - dreary funereal dirge is really depressing.
By comparison, my PS4 Pro boots up with a classy retro-PS2 theme which is infinitely more welcoming.
Themes, eh? Who'd have thought they would've been the top requested feature (vying for top spot with folders) on a PS front end? Everybody it seems, apart from Fony.
Its ok.
Pity you cant double up on ones like storage - you can set this to either Internal SSD, or added M2 SSD, but not both, and you cant add a second in order to have 1 option on each.
Not that I really care but it's not rolled out in Poland yet
it is indeed. I turned on my PS5 just after midnight for some "I can't sleep gaming" and it appeared, a nice surprise.
Finally I can use my screenshot photos again! My Kiryu “it’s not a turkey” one being one of my all time favourites. But think I need to grab it from my PS4.
I had a brief play around with it last night when it appeared. Some of the sections seem useful for checking at a glance, but I think they now need to look at what's doubled up, e.g. the game news section on both the Welcome screen and when you press the PS button. One or the other please.
@Rich33 You can tap L1/R1 to quickly change between drives, but yes it would be good to have a second option a bit like the accessory battery life one to show both at the same time. Hopefully they add it later.
cool i have really missed the whats new section from ps4 Ui
Nothing in my village yet...
I really like it, I'm all for seeing information at a glance. I barely use the social features on PS5, so I never look at what my friends are up to - but every now and again seeing something in the welcome hub is nice. Also like to put my storage up there, I'm always obsessing over space.
Here in Portugal we still don't have it. I don't know whether I should be thankful that that's the case or not.
If only Sony would give us folders, and an option to completely DELETE demos, and games I've played on PS+.
Tired of having to hide the games and demos, in my library, that I'm never gonna play again.
@MrHabushi
Thank you - i missed the L1/R1 - probably as the buttons do something different in edit mode. Yes, hopefully they can amend in an update as its one of the more useful parts.
Dig it!
I've stripped it down to
With Astro background!
Does anybody in Canada have it yet? Normally we get this stuff alongside or soon after the U.S. does but I am still without the feature.
EVE background coming up on my ststem, thats for sure.
@Steel76 Funny thing is I have a folder on my PS4's dashboard called 'Demos' into which a put all the demo versions of games I've played or am playing.
Using the old stager is just so much nicer...
Mine showed up today at lunchtime. Mostly clutter but there are a few nice things on there.
It’s very nice 👍
Appeared today on my PS5.
It's completely pointless. It just shows info I can find elsewhere if I need to, and it clutter up the home screen, and takes up a slot for a game in the tabs.
I don't like it, I don't want it, and I want Sony to at least give you the option of disabling it
I agree it’s a bit use—free, but it’s not exactly going to prevent me from using my PS5. I’ve modified the “solo” preset and added a screenshot from AC: Mirage.
By the looks of it, the “keep on homepage” setting implies that if you click in enough games it may actually fall off the games icon list. But I haven’t tried that yet.
Got it and......... Meh
It's just more unnecessary screen clutter. We need to be able to disable it.
Still not here in the Netherlands. Amazing how slow Sony releases this. Why not one big global update like in the PS3 days.
article subtitle: “Last but not least”
me: ~laughs in Australian~ 😅
I like the UX of the ‘move’ function. Very nicely designed and implemented.
Nothing in the Netherlands as of yet
Needless clutter, an option to turn it off would be nice
@Jrs1 You can turn it off!
This video explains how: https://youtu.be/JiEg2uhYE1s
I liked the ethereal music for a bit after I first bought my PS5 but turned it off soon after. Recently I even turned off the menu clicks.
@VenomUK Cool cheers bud 👍
It rolled out on my Italian PS5 last week. I quite like it, I have to say.
I guess I'll get used to it but so far I don't like it one little bit
It's a nice feature, even if I don't use it much.
Was hoping it wouldn't come to the UK it's just a way to push adverts like Microsoft do on Xbox let's hope it can be turned off
Rather than implementing a comprehensive range of changes, a more efficient approach would be to enhance the home screen by transforming the icons into cards. This would provide a visually appealing and contemporary interface, while also introducing an option to customize the background music and create folders.
