If you've been feeling the hype around Warhorse Studios' impending medieval knight simulator Kingdom Come: Deliverance II but don't know Emperor Charles IV from his indecisive son, Wenceslas "The Idle", or how Sigismund of Luxembourg, King of Hungary and Croatia, fits into the equation (embarrassing), then you're in luck. Prepare to learn more about the intricacies and political machinations of the 15th-century Holy Roman Empire than you might expect in a AAA video game with this lengthy story recap trailer.

Designed to be played without knowledge of the first game, there is still quite a lot of ground to cover to get up to speed in historical Bohemia (modern Czech Republic), 1403. As we are now less than a week from the release of KC: DII, we are fascinated to see how the continuation of the tale of Henry of Skalitz will be received.
You could be forgiven for thinking the first-person, Skyrim-like, open world WRPG might be relatively welcoming for newcomers. Those who spent time with the criminally underplayed first game know that this is not the case, with the hardcore simulation mechanics underpinning Warhorse's world making something like Fallout 4's Survival difficulty cute in comparison and, unlike similar modes, aren't optional.
Rather than shy away (horse pun) from any of this, Warhorse has put its shoulder into these sim aspects in the sequel. We imagine many players will be surprised by the lengths required to do something as simple as saving the game or making Henry properly presentable. But then, we didn't expect the incredibly nerdy CRPG Baldur's Gate 3 to find mainstream success either, so what do we know? Not much longer now!
Are you considering diving into Kingdom Come: Deliverance II when it releases Tuesday, 4th February on PS5? Call your trusty squire to aid in equipping first a padded gambeson, then a chainmail hauberk, secured by a sturdy breastplate, filling the fourth slot of torso armour with a stylish German waffenrock before entering the comments section below.

Just preordered it tonight on the pro. I loved the first and I’m so ready for the sequel which looks better in every way. Also the first sold 8 million so I wouldn’t say it’s criminally underplayed it def has a sizable fan base which is looking like it’s going to grow with the sequel
Downloading now so i'm ready to roll midnight Monday.
@ApostateMage 4pm Tuesday in the UK. (So annoying!)
I've already told work that I won't be in on Wednesday. Making time for a proper deep dive.
