The Video Game History Foundation has opened its digital library, which includes thousands of classic video game magazines, archived in their entirety with full text search support.
The project – which also expands to other pieces of ephemera, such as old event guides, tips books, and press materials – spans over 30,000 hand curated files, with more to come. It’s an absolute treasure trove of valuable gaming content.
“After years of collecting, cataloguing, and digitising video game history materials, the VGHF is finally opening the virtual doors to its library – wherever you are,” the Foundation said in a statement.
Obviously, the resource is free to use for everyone to use, although donations are being accepted if you’d like to support the project.
Among the magazines you may want to peruse, the entire print run of Game Informer is included, as well as hundreds of issues of the Official US PlayStation Magazine.
While we largely grew up on the UK publications here at Push Square, gaming mags have had a huge influence on how we run the site, so finding all of these issues archived and preserved in a modern format is wonderful to see.

That is awesome!! Uk here too so I totally dig this! 🤘🏻
Although can’t see Play magazine which is what I used to read loads… bummer
@RoldokBio They do say they’re adding more so I’m sure they’ll get there.
Nothing beats that OPM taking of the wrap getting the demos i always got even with the internet.
I didn't know OPM 1st issue has Ghost in the Shell as a cover. But man i miss gaming magz.
Is there a possibility where a certain company will force to take it down?
Brilliant. Would love to see UK mags added in future, but what's already here is amazing.
@adit365 I hope not!
Nice, I want to read EGM again 😃
I was looking through my old Crash and Atari ST user binders over Christmas. So many memories! Internet Archive Magazine Rack has tonnes of old uk magazines too including CV&G. Definitely checking this out over the weekend
I still got my PlayStation the official magazine issue 058 may 2012 of sly Cooper thieves of time.yes i miss video games magazines.word up son
Wow, this is so neat! I shall be looking through some of these when I get chance. Print media was kind of beautiful in its own way... No offence Push Square, you're cool too.
Lol my god, the first 3 ads in issue 1: NFL GAMEDAY 99, Nightmare Creatures, and Colony Wars. The MEMORIES!!!
Playstation max was my favourite here in the UK. Wasn't the biggest publication going but it always had a bold eye catching front cover and crucially was cheaper. Still got all my issues boxed up somewhere too.
That PaRappa The Rapper magazine cover is still visible in my buddy's bathroom to this day...
Spent my entire afternoon reading those magazines and laughing out loud hahaha The articles, the ads, wow, I did not remember how WILD those times were!! We were crazy back them!!!
So cool. They have 130 issues of PSM magazine. I know what I'm doing tonight.
If PC Accelerator is excluded from the archive I will dismiss this foundation as a bunch of prudish hacks.
