Midnight Murder Club is not free-to-play, but you’ll only need one copy to play with all your friends. A little bit like Split Fiction, developer Velan Studios has announced a Guest Pass for the game, which means only one person will need to own it to play with five friends.
Here’s the exact explanation from the PS Blog: “If one person buys the game, they can invite up to five Guest Pass Edition players to play together for no additional cost in public or private matches, in all current game modes, as much as you want.” Just to clarify, that Guest Pass Edition will be free to download.
The title will be launching in Early Access on 13th March, and it’ll cost $19.99 for the one copy you need to own to play with all your friends.
For those of you who haven’t been following, this is a multiplayer first-person shooter where you need to rely on sound to stalk your pray. While you are armed with a flashlight to see your surroundings, switching it on will expose your position to everyone else, creating a really unique gameplay mechanic.
While there’ll be various modes at launch, including Free for All and Team Deathmatch, the developer has also announced Wildcards today, a new mode which sees you building a deck of status changes which affect everyone in the game. That means you can deal a super-speed card to make everyone move really fast or imbue everyone with oversized heads like in an old Nintendo 64 game.
It's worth noting Sony is publishing this game on both PS5 and PC, so this is a console exclusive for now. Will you be checking out the Early Access version and giving it a go?

Oh nice. Really enjoyed the beta, so will probably be a day one buy for me.
The game is fun, the pass is a good deal, what else can they do to try and compete?
Hopefully people give it a chance.
Every time I read this title as "Midnight Club" and get false hope.
@GymratAmarillo It's a nice game but not something that'll last for long imo. It just feels like a party game you play if you have not much else to do.
Sounds like something I would enjoy on paper....but in reality I would probably never really play it lol
@Dalamar oh man, don't 😭 I miss it so much!
They should have included this on ps plus might have increased the player base
I honestly can’t wait to play again. Me and my friends had a blast during the beta so this will be a day one for me.
@Nepp67 it IS a party game, the developer has described it like that lol and the point of party games is basically what you just described + when you want to play with your friends.
It's all about what business they are looking for. If they understand the difference between the management of a party game and a competitive online game, they are going to be fine ... if people give it a chance or course. These days some people are too obsessed with the idea that every online game is bad and that if it doesn't have 1 trillion concurrent players on steam is a flop lol and it's not like that, Pummel Party one of the most successful party games out there doesn't have those concurrent players numbers but it has sold good numbers because they understand their business.
That’s cool, might give it a try!
@Dalamar you read my damn mind, SMH .
