Capcom has detailed the first big 'Title Update' for Monster Hunter Wilds, which will drop at some point in April.
The idea is that by this time, most players who snagged the game at launch will have played through the main campaign — as well as the High Rank stuff — and will be looking to sink their teeth into something new.
Interestingly, the developer is already highlighting the fact that this patch will bring an increased challenge. "Prepare your gear, and resolve, hunters! Title Update 1 will bring with it a monster of formidable strength at a level above Tempered!," reads the official social media post.
For those unfamiliar, 'Tempered' monsters are more powerful versions of existing enemies, and typically play a big role in Monster Hunter's endgame hunts. So, Capcom's basically promising additional foes that'll provide an even greater threat.
And this info comes at a good time, because some fans haven't stopped debating Wilds' difficulty since reviews were published earlier this week. Supposedly, the game's a bit on the easy side — and some more experienced players are concerned that it won't keep them engaged.
Title Update 1 will also introduce a dedicated multiplayer hub, complete with a kitchen. We reckon Capcom's got pretty significant plans for Wilds in terms of post-launch support, and this is obviously just the start.

Is it part of the free update? Their roadmap is confusing, with a mix of free and paid DLC.
It's crazy to me how they make changes based on some reviewers before any players even had a chance to play the game and verify If it was bs.
I hope they don't screw up the difficulty curve.
They should bring Nergigante back! He'd be a great monster to throw hands with at a higher level!
As they have done for a while with Monster Hunter, they will keep pumping the game full of extra content for months most likely, and that's before considering a full paid expansion.
The updates were always going to have harder monsters by default. I still hope the launch game has some kind of difficulty. At the very least, beta Rey Dau and Arkveld levels of challenge I'd be satisfied with until the harder content arrives
Thank goodness they're listening. The thing is, if fights are too easy going solo then they're gonna be an absolute joke in a group, so naturally there has to be a challenge when at least solo-ing otherwise the game gets boring and there's no need to adapt your build and figure out what works, which is one of the biggest appeals of MH anyway
@Judal27 Yeah Arkveld was pretty tough even with a max of 4 players.
@B0udoir The only paid content is either cosmetics or expansions. How it's been for World and Rise.
I am not good at mh but I enjoy it. The “game is too easy” will most likely not apply to me.
I think “discourse” is too good a word to use to describe the internet, it implies there’s some sort of intelligent conversation happening.
Usually harder hunts come after the game releases, so it makes sense. I'm excited to play the game tonight.
Does this game not include a difficulty choice?
I have never understood this, even in Souls like games (which I really like, but just wish there were more of). Difficulty options should always be available - and this is coming from someone who has cleared Elden Ring including Malenia, Lies of P including Nameless Puppet, DS3 including all optional and DLC bosses, and Nioh 2 including all DLC, and all of these at least on NG+
This game would die if it's too easy. The casual crowd would move on to something else as usual and the real MH fans who stick around will quit because there's no challenge.
"at a level above Tempered!"
And in April we will see everyone complaining that it is too hard, tempered was not a joke on World when you didn't have a min-maxed build.
@B0udoir only cosmetics have a cost. Title updates are free.
@Nepp67 I didn't get a chance to coop him. But he was a decent threat playing solo and in general just a lot of fun to fight
@Rich33 no difficulty choices in Monster Hunter, it's a one size fits all dealio... You can make things easier (or harder) for yourself through prep and weapon choice and doing things in co-op. MH rewards patience and observation above anything else.
@Mintie
Appreciate the answer as I didn't know, but those things could also ring true under difficulty settings.
As I say, like some, I am definitely not adverse to a really difficult game (hence why I named some of those I have completed).
I find it odd when some devs don't add difficulty settings, laying themselves really open to negative discourse around whether the game is too easy (like the commentary around this game), or too difficult.
Feels like an admission the game is a bit too easy. I'll be benching my cat and avoiding traps for starters when I start the game in 5 minutes
The game is not “too easy.” I’m so tired of this obfuscation and erosion of difficulty curves by the soulslike bros. Now “too easy” means “I didn’t die repeatedly to the same boss.”
These people online boasting about how it’s “too easy” for internet clout and to feel a sense of accomplishment, the pro gamers with YouTubes etc, are going to ruin the game for the majority of players when most people find the difficulty fine.
I guarantee you these people are carting to monster fights. Maybe not all of them, but they definitely are. But they still say it’s “too easy.” Bc they want to die MORE. I think most people’s definition of easy is “never die.”
I play with two veterans, and I myself have been playing since MH3 ultimate, and I’m deadly with a bow. And even I cart when fighting against say, G. Ebony.
These people want to fail and die repeatedly, banging their head against the wall, bc that’s what soulslike culture finds “fun.”
It’s wild to me that I grouped with randos to fight chained arkveld and mission failed a good half a dozen times due to carting, and yet people still say the game is too easy??
That doesn’t make sense. Something is amiss.
I’m disappointed in capcom if they beefed up these tempered pluses to just be ohkos and annoyance just to satisfy some random people online.
