Sony recently revealed its strategy for growing its brand and unlocking the Chinese market: help local developers succeed worldwide.
And now it’s applying the same tactics to another country, as part of its India Hero Project.
Today, it announced two new indie games for the PS5, developed and designed by local Indian teams: Bloody Boots and Lokko.
As Sony’s Hector R. Fernandez explained on the PS Blog: “At Sony Interactive Entertainment, we are committed to fostering innovation and creativity in game development across the globe. Our goal is to not only support these developers in bringing their unique visions to life but also to help them reach a global audience on PlayStation.”

So, what of the games, then?

Bloody Boots is developed by a team called Weloadin, and is described as a “third-person action-adventure game set in Crank Town, a dystopian entertainment hub powered by junk-punk advancements in biotech”.
The blurb continues: “Play as a fugitive teen trapped in Crank Town’s lawless mayhem. In a playground of ruthless mutants, mech-enhanced supervillains, and savage bosses. Fight to get your ticket out!”
Unfortunately, there’s no footage of Bloody Boots just yet.
There is, however, a gameplay trailer for Lokko, which is in development at Appy Monkeys. This is a kind of Super Mario Maker-esque level builder, with cross-platform support across PS5, PC, and mobile.
“Help Lokko defeat the evil Goobol corporation to deliver the world’s best pizzas,” the summary explains. “Challenge other players’ best runs, unleash your creativity, and leverage the power of DualSense on all three platforms. Players can trade their creations, compete against each other, and be the one who makes the most fun, unique, and creative level. Endless fun and possibilities await!”
Both games certainly have potential, so we’re excited to see what else emerges from the India Hero Project in the future.

I am Hopeful that the games are good. Sony's focus on the HERO PROJECTS is a good thing.
I had the opportunity to work with people from India and damn they are good for software development.
If China is almost ready to start a constant stream of games that look good India also has that potential. It's going to take some time (China Hero games have been releasing since 2018 but Lost Soul Aside is the first big one to release from the project) but they'll get there.
@GymratAmarillo Yeah India also needs to start promoting them as cultural export to build a local community around it beyond f2p mobile games. Right now it's mainly in the cities but it is slowly improving.
So far from the 3 console maker, i only see Sony who put their effort to support indie devs from China, Korea, India, and MENA. Kudos to Shu and his team of course 🙇♂️
Anyway. The Lokko game looks fun and polished. Looks like India devs have some nice potential too huh 🤔
After the success of the Chine Hero projects I hope these deliver too, similar to other posts I work for an India company (in the UK) and the IT guys are with out a doubt the hardest working teams I think I have ever witnessed. If this mentality carries over into gaming then I have no doubt these games (or at least some of them) will be excellent!
Perhaps Sony can start by releasing PS5 Pro here 😕
If people are from India, calling them Indie is inappropriate so I reported this article as offensive
@vikramsingh
India doesn't have a PS 5 Pro?
Why do you think that is, of you're being honest?
@EfYI Well the official word is, it's something to do with regulatory compliance regarding WiFi 7 module in PS5 Pro. Not sure how long before we can get a hand on it, but it's frustrating.
And so it begins
This is exciting. I love Sony's push into new markets for talent. It's given us Stellar Blade and Lost Soul Aside looks incredible.
What more can you say about this?
