9 Years of Shadows is a promising Metroidvania we had our eye on back in 2022. It's since released on PC, and resurfaced with a new "announcement" trailer on the official PlayStation YouTube channel. Sadly, we still don't have a release date.

From developer Halberd Studios, fittingly enough, armed with a polearm that can be employed as either axe or spear, players will journey through the nightmarish fortress of Talos, embarking on a quest to right a world robbed of colour and life through the healing power of song.

In proof of why you should always employ a consistent copy editor, 9 Years of Shadows variously goes by Nine Years of Shadows in official artwork and assets, SEO be damned. It physically pains us to go against the great and powerful AP style guide, using a numeral rather than the prescribed method of spelling out a number under 10; Nevertheless, we maintain a stiff upper lip and soldier on.
