If you're living under a rock, Nintendo fully unveiled its upcoming console, Switch 2, last week — and now, Sony wants to know your thoughts.
Yes, PlayStation is curious to know what you made of Nintendo's Switch 2 Direct presentation, as well as the device itself.
Known leaker eXtas1s has shared images of a survey going out to PSN account holders, questioning people about Nintendo's imminent hardware release:
Sony is asking how interested you are in buying a Switch 2; whether your opinion has changed regarding Nintendo, Sony, or others; what aspects of Switch 2 are you most interested in; what do you think of the strict pre-order process; and so on.
Surveys like these aren't uncommon whenever major new products are in the pipeline, but whether Sony acts on the data it receives is impossible to know.
As a platform holder, it's reasonable to expect Sony is interested in what its audience finds appealing about the competition.
We know that Sony has found a surprising level of success with its cloud-based handheld peripheral PS Portal, and rumour has it that, alongside the PS6 home console, there will be a companion handheld device, allowing you to take your PlayStation library on the go.
So, there's every possibility that Sony is plotting the return to handheld games of some degree, but what we know for certain is that it's keen to learn what you reckon about the Switch 2.
Have you received this survey? Answer in the comments section below.

Great way to point out to Sony that physical games should not be £75.
I would love to do this survey lol.. don’t have it yet though 😔 is there a link?
I’d love a native handheld Sony! Give it to me
I’ll take buying and owning a game on disc for the PS5 then buying a physical game that has a download code for the Switch 2.
I don’t really plan on buying a Switch 2 anytime soon.
Sony should really consider doing a handheld console the PSP was a fantastic console and so was the Vita, I know there’s the Portal but it’s not exactly a proper handheld console like those
@UltimateOtaku91
Very true but aren’t the Switch 2 games also expensive as well?
Loved the presentation until the price reveals.
I'd simply stick to PS Plus for new games. I already barely get games brand new and these new prices would guarantee I wait for deep sales .
3 games costing nearly £240. Madness
Good moment to say that if they don't increase the price of their games they're going to wreck the Switch 2.
I’ve fancied some handheld gaming ever since getting back into gaming in a big way and ended up getting a switch back in 2019 but hardly used it. It turned out the handheld device I wanted was a method to access my PlayStation account while not in my gaming room… and while I always wanted that method to be native, now that I’ve tried the portal I’m satisfied with streaming.
As I’ve never really been a massive fan of Nintendo ip, the portal has covered any and all bases that I personally want from handheld/portability, so I won’t be getting a switch 2. The missus got the most use out of my switch anyway, so maybe she’ll want one but she hasn’t piped up yet 😅.
@UltimateOtaku91 physical games make sense why they are more expensive. I wanna know why digital games are the same price as physical games when it cost more to make physical games.
I was interested in the Switch 2 but when the pricing was revealed unfortunately it made it unaffordable for me overall. Especially considering all of Nintendo's games are likely to be this price going forward, and are rarely on sale.
Damn I kinda wanna say it's making me go team red just so they could get their heads outta their rears, even tho it actually put me off buying a Nintendo console this gen
I have always a Playstation fan since day 1 here in queens new york in September 9.1995.never was a huge Nintendo fan.before I was a Playstation fan.i was a huge sega genesis and arcades fan.so I had the nes.but I always preferred the sega genesis. I always l❤️ve the Playstation.so it doesn't matter to me.word up son
@Dragoon1994 Presumably 95% of physical games on the Switch 2 are going to be fully contained on the cartridge. The idea that every physical game is just a download with a cartridge key is a bit of misinformation.
CD Project Red has stated that Switch 2 cartridges have a 64gb capacity. So, presumably, the game key will be for 3rd-parties that can't fit their game into that cartridge. Nintendo's games are looking to be 10-30gb so far, so it won't be a problem for them.
Here you go Sony:
Pros - Switch 2 hardware looks great with hdr, vrr, 120fps, 4k, mouse control etc. It’s even priced ok. Most games are SP and not live service which suits me perfectly. Metroid Prime 4.
Cons - Switch 2 games are priced horrendously meaning I’ll buy less on S2 than I did S1 and probs more on PS5. Game chat is 20 years too late. Game key cards are the worst idea since square wheels. Nintendo are showing their greed by putting shareholders ahead of their customers. That rarely ends well.
Just my 2 cents…
I've been doing the occasional survey for The Playstation Owners Forum. Just did one similar to this but much shorter. It was basically 'which consoles do you own?', then 'how likely are you to purchase a Switch 2?' and finally giving a reason for your answer to the previous question. That was it.
Nintendo have always been my secondary console, but my Switch has been gathering dust since TotK and I fear the Switch 2 will up the same way. so I may has to pass on it.
@Dragoon1994 That's what I meant, the survey is about the Nintendo Switch 2 and how Playstation gamers feel about it. So we should use the survey to say we don't like the idea of £75 games to maybe deter Sony from doing the same in the future.
@RoomWithaMoose
I see, I remember seeing the other day that the carriages wouldn’t contain the game itself and was just a download code for the game
With the Switch 2 and soon to be Xbox handheld there's absolutely no way Sony will be left out. I'd wager they will release a native handheld console that will launch with the PS6, it will be able to play PS4, PS5 and select PS6 games.
@UltimateOtaku91
Fair enough, knowing Sony though they’ll up their prices as well but as a PS mainly gamer I’ll still be buying my games for PS, digitally is normally more expensive than physical as long as LRG don’t get their grubby on hands on the physical copies
The more interesting one will be GTA6 cost.
I have switch oled then sell it and bought steam deck oled. I have a ps5 fat too. I dunno. So far switch 2 doesn’t have any game i really want to play so far. So for now im skipped and stick with my deck oled.
Hopefully this will open sony eyes and release their own native handheld console
@Dragoon1994 most of that discourse was referring to the fact that upscaled switch 2 versions of switch 1 games will only have the switch 1 version on the cartridge and the upgrade is via a download.
The rest is because some extra large 3rd party companies either can't because of size or just won't release physical copies of games all in the cartridge (as many of these companies also do with disc)
Really interested in switch 2 for the console exclusive games and upgrade for my old games on switch. I hope the maximum price for its games is $70 though, $80 is just too much 😕
@Dragoon1994 There will be games that are completely on the card on Switch 2, just like there are PS5 games that only have few kilobytes on disc and download the rest. It's pretty much the same situation on both machines, although it remains to be seen how many games on Switch 2 will be Game Key cards and how many will have the full game.
There's so much misinformation about this on the internet, it's ridiculous.
@Dragoon1994 It does seem like that's an option they're offering partners. I haven't really looked into all the details — because I'm already all digital, hence it doesn't really affect me.
It should really just be a replacement to the 'physical game that's just a download code' on the Switch. So I wouldn't expect it often. And I would never expect Nintendo's games to utilize it.
I'll be picking one up because I like Nintendo for nostalgia and for travel/work which is what I spend most of my time doing. All I can really think about is the price of the games themselves. Any increases along with what's happening in the Asian market this morning could seriously damage the industry.
I'd love to see Sony take a swing at another handheld but I'm perfectly happy just sticking with the PS5. If games do soar to a ridiculous price then I'll just hold off on day one purchases, it's less about what I can afford and more about not wanting to be played by a marketing strategy.
It's becoming much harder for me to justify day one buys when they go into the collection then sit, all the while knowing that same game will eventually go on sale for a much lower price. As long as there is competition between brands we'll always have the option to choose to wait. I'm glad Sony are taking it seriously but really I'd just like to see them focus on games. I never imagined a world where Nintendo would snatch a Fromsoft exclusive away from Sony, but here we are.
If things keep going the way they are a significant portion of the community risks being priced out of a hobby they've done nothing but support from day one, that's an awful future but I've already seen it happen to more than one person. Sony need to factor in the community as a whole, Nintendo aren't. They are going to make their product a luxury item, which coupled with high priced games could hurt sales. I've always seen Nintendo as a family friendly company, high prices like this will only hurt families. How many children are going to ask for a Switch 2 for Christmas, it's honestly kind of predatory.
I had a switch OLED but sold it after not using it. My PlayStation kept me too busy, and the OLED Switch was only 3-4 months old. So no don't want a Switch 2.
Hopefully when Nintendo does a sale, it's more than 33% off for a change.
I always get Nintendo, and I'm not impressed with price tags so far.
I have a Nintendo Switch but only buy the occasional game, usually big releases like Mario or Zelda, or (timed) exclusives like Hades. My main consoles are PS5 and Series X. I was all prepared to preorder S2, until I saw the price of games. What’s worse is that this will no doubt open the doors to Sony and Microsoft charging more for their games, especially considering they are running on more powerful hardware than S2. Damn you Nintendo!
SteamDeck > Switch 2
An Overpriced PS4 Pro is what it is
I like it. Switch has been a great secondary console, but performance has left me wanting. Switch 2 looks to be significantly more powerful, and also looks like less of a toy than Switch 1.
I don't like handheld "consoles". Fiddly controls and a small screen are not for me.
@OldGamer999 Swiss retailer BrackCH recently listed GTA 6 for roughly $114. They since removed it and called it a place holder.
Everyone taking that survey should let them know don't increase the price 🙄
nintendo’s been a secondary/side-dish since the gamecube . why would a handheld console replace a home console for me? lol
Once I finish building my PC, i am sure i will get the Switch 2. But the prices could have been a little more fair. However to be able to lay in bed and play Metroid and Mario Kart, i do not see me passing that up.
Mario kart 9 looks amazing and the gamecube games for payed members looks great & the from software game looks mindblowing. The price of physical games is too much at 80 and the red box's look dreadful i think its to put people off buying physical in the future so everything is digital.
Metroid 4 looks great and the backwards ability is great for switch 1 games. But the ps5 is the greatest in my mind and 1st choice for gaming.
@DrGrief The ps portal looks far more appealing to me as a handheld device, looks far more comfortable than those dreadful joycons
@DrGrief I was somewhat interested in it when I was younger, but now in my mid-30s, I don't see the appeal. I much prefer chilling at night with my 48" S90D and booting up the PS5 Pro.
Nintendo has been just as bad as Sony at kicking out AAA 1st party games. If anything Sony has been better; 2022 was a great year with Horizon, GoW and Gran Turismo all coming out. Switch really just gave us the Zelda games imo. Those were wonderful, but output was thin over Switch 1's lifecycle. I'll grab Switch 2 for Metroid but I'm not preordering
@Dodoo there is some misinformation about the game key cards. as far as i know, they only replace the switch 2 games in situations where the publisher opted not to create a physical switch cart and instead sold a game physically but with just a download code in the box. so instead of buying a physical switch 2 game that only has the download code, there will now be a game key card inside. what's interesting about this is the fact that with the old model, your digital purchase would be tied to your account and could not be shared. but with game key cards, you are able to lend out your "physical-digital" games to friends and even sell it (not sure this is confirmed 100% but that is the understanding at the moment)
game key cards are not meant to replace switch 2 carts... they are meant to replace switch 2 physical releases that only had download codes in the box. this is giving people more value and freedom in these situations. now, the biggest worry that people have is that the majority of publishers may opt for game key cards instead of actual switch 2 carts in order to save on costs... that is a legit concern but is a very different conversation. all that said, the big publishers are easing off physical media so i think it is safe to say that this will be nintendo's last generation with physical media before it is gone forever... and yes, i believe that by the end of the switch 2 cycle, majority of physical releases will be made up of game key cards and not switch carts.
@Porco interesting points thanks for the extra info and yes we’re being led to a digital future for sure, whether we like it or not…
My main reason for staying with physical over digital is the fact you can recoup some value by reselling. With prices skyrocketing as they are that’s becoming even more appealing for me to stay physical yet with a digital future the loss of that option means gaming will become infinitely more expensive.
@Dodoo agreed 100%. let's enjoy the last few years we have with physical media! for me, the ps4 was the last console i collected seriously for — currently have over 120 physical games for it. but i'm getting close to reaching my shelving space limit so that's that
@Porco haha well with you running out of shelf space at least the digital transition is happening at a convenient time for you! 🤣
@Ilovecoffee my last handheld was the Sega game gear back in the late 80's. When I was 10. Now in my mid-forties I'm same as you. Nice big 50" Sony TV & PS5 Pro. The kids like handheld, but I just don't get on with them. Bigger is better 😂
