Re: Sony Will Launch PS5 Pro Alongside PS5 in 2020, Says Rumour, But We're Not Convinced

Claude

I hope not, it wouldn't be worth it. Isn't the PS5 already predicted to be priced a bit higher than the PS4 was at launch? That could put the Pro around the $600 or $700 range. They'd probably get less good press too, and a Pro released 3 years down the line would likely be more powerful, run better (i.e. not as loud with a lower chance of overheating) and also cost less than if it were launched alongside the regular.

Re: Feature: PS5 Remasters and Remakes We Want

Claude

I've been wanting Nemesis since I first saw the RE2 Remake screenshots. All that detail and resolution following after you.

Red Dead I can definitely see, but not until we're quite deep into the next generation.

I also want them to bundle all 3 FFXIII games and set them to 60 fps.

Re: Final Fantasy VIII Remastered Hits PS4 on 3rd September

Sooooooo many memories of this game. I remember the demo disc of the Dollet mission where you have Rinoa and she can summon Leviathan, which looked incredible for the time. The hype just built from there. When it finally came out, I loved how you could play around with it and break it, and how you could grind to mega powerful weapons and limit breaks, etc. I think I beat it like ten times or something.

My love for it is more tempered these days, but it is still love. Regardless of any criticism I can give it now, I really respect how it tries to be nothing else but itself. There is no other game quite like it, which can't be said for some of the more revered FF titles. The soundtrack is in the running for best in the series too, and I'd say it's the most distinctive too. Uematsu nailed the military feel. I have replaythroughs of both X and XIII that I need to finish up in time for this. It's been well over 15 years since I last played this, and I'm excited to revisit it.

Re: Ex-PlayStation Executive: Google Stadia Starts Inevitable Shift Away from Consoles

Claude

He's right, and I'm saying this as someone who owns more than one console from both Sony and Nintendo. The Stadia platform itself will only appeal to certain contingents (the most interesting of which to watch are those who don't have a console at all right now, but have the Internet capabilities), especially from the outset, but gradually it will be experimented with and progress will be made. In its own way, it may be what the NES was for the 80s and the PS1 was for the 90s for the 2020s, an eventual new standard of thinking when it comes to making games.

Within the next five years, we will see variations of the PS5, Switch, and the XB1 successor that don't use physical media. They won't be the only options, but they'll be there.

Re: Poll: Have You Bought Red Dead Redemption 2?

Claude

Was on the fence, but the reviews put me over the edge and I pre-ordered it last night. Haven't started yet because the notes about the long intro made me want to give it proper time rather than playing for an hour and then going to sleep. I never actually played the first one straight through (a friend's house I used to frequent over a summer seven years ago when I had no consoles had it, and I'd play in spurts), but that Maya Angelou quote about remembering how they made you feel versus what they said or did fits for my experience. I really really enjoyed playing the first one when I did.
