@UltimateOtaku91 physical games make sense why they are more expensive. I wanna know why digital games are the same price as physical games when it cost more to make physical games.
@bugzbunny109 your ID tag Bugs Bunny that’s cool, really is.
Sony doesn’t do the same thing? They make cellphones, computers, TVs, surround sound systems, movies and more.
I think it’s silly a lot of people make it sound like Sony is this small helpless company that’s on its last leg.
I also think it’s funny everyone talking about this acquisition but nobody looking at Tencent. If Tencent decides to get into the console business or subscription. They be the top dog with no one that can compete with.
@KilloWertz everyone keeps bringing up subscription. You still have to subscribe to PlayStation Plus to play games online.
Yeah they fell behind. Now they’re buying. Look like it or not Bethesda and Activision wanted to sell to Microsoft. Acquisition happen and Microsoft won. It’s over.
@Jamesblob @theSpectre they’re not forcing you. You don’t need gamepass.
Also there’s nothing wrong with gamepass. Multiple studios and publishers has said great things about gamepass. Sony hates it because it makes money constantly. Plus it’s on multiple platforms and devices
@theSpectre yeah Phil Spencer wasn’t in charge during the exclusive deals. The guy to nice.
Minecraft, ESO DLC, Fallout 76 DLC, Call of Duty, and some others was not forced to be on PlayStation. Microsoft chose that. Microsoft always intended COD to be multiplatform.
Bungie to Sony they would remain multiplatform and Sony only bought to keep from Microsoft. MLB the Show was forced to be multiplatform and released on gamepass by Major League Baseball, Sony is not multiplatform. Is Spider-Man 2 launching on PC same day as PlayStation 5?
I don’t care that Spider-Man is exclusive, I have both consoles. I do believe competition is good. Sony has displayed every monopoly thing the FTC was talking about. Microsoft is leveling the playing field while not focus on console.
Microsoft has gotten games to more gamers, but on console they need more exclusives because Sony wants to be the only player
@theSpectre again Sony has better studios and you leave out Sony monopoly strategies they’ve been doing.
EA off the table, so is Ubisoft. Money can’t buy this.
Also the largest third party publisher wanted to sell, they chose Microsoft. Bethesda who already had a great relationship with Microsoft, wanted to sell.
Sega is next. Yes I know Sega said no, but that was for show. Sega is next, then it will be small publishers from then on.
@KilloWertz I agree with you to a degree, but from a business perspective, Microsoft isn’t wrong. Microsoft put themselves in this position with the consumers 100%. What Microsoft didn’t do was force Sony to do these Monopoly tactics where they can buy third party games cheaper and make them exclusive while making a profit. Microsoft can’t do that. I also don’t think Phil Spencer has tried. Phil been a pretty upstanding guy so far and is a true gamer.
I don’t think Phil’s lied either. Phil has gotten gamepass everywhere; Xbox, Smartphones, SmartTv, Steam Deck, and PC. More games into more people’s hands.
Phil has talked about putting gamepass on PlayStation and Nintendo, but they would have to do the same, and hopes one day they would all just complete on who had the better service and features.
@KilloWertz Microsoft whining? Both Sony and Microsoft were whining. But Sony was whining more than anybody, Jim Crybaby Ryan flow across the world crying! lol.
I agree with you about Microsoft putting themselves in this position. Phil Spencer talks about this a lot during the Xbox one era when Dan mattrick was running the show.
Now the only way to draw people back in is to get popular IP‘s, which I think is actually pretty smart because again people are now talking about Xbox again, even if it’s a bad publicity, but bad publicity isn’t always bad, It’s actually sometimes good and I think this is good.
Competition is definitely up. Sony’s gonna be fine. They still have the more popular IP’s.
@theSpectre hey let’s put it this way. All the regulators agree that this merger doesn’t hurt the console market, consumers, or the console leader, even the CMA said they agree with that.
The CNA is looking at the cloud gaming market, which even Sony thinks is a joke. Google even talked about how expensive it was and it was nonprofitable at all.
PlayStation gamers and some Xbox gamers have complain for years that Microsoft has no IP‘s. I think xbox has IP‘s and the games have had great reviews, they just don’t appeal to everyone.
Now that they have a IPs people are complaining but everyone is now talking about Xbox and taking them seriously. That’s a good sign for competition, quality, more and better games.
@theSpectre that was your only rebuttal back? Nothing about Sony being the market leader in the gaming industry/market, and displaying monopoly tendencies. So, you avoided everything I said.
Microsoft in the video game market is not $2.2 trillion. Remember we’re talking about the Gaming market, you’re trying to include stuff that has nothing to do with video games. Which is what the trade commission’s are supposed to look into, because that’s the market that’s trying to make the merger.
Sony is 2nd for video game publishing profit.
Microsoft is 5th in console publishing, 9th or 10th in video game PC, almost none existing in Mobile market.
@UltimateOtaku91 I agree with you. Phil Spencer has said he wants to rebuild those studios and get rid of the COD model (where there’s a COD every year), so the studios can work on other things.
@Grumblevolcano you need to do more research. Microsoft can already close the deal. The reason they have, is because they want to make more acquisitions.
If the CMA doesn’t approve it, Microsoft can’t sell games in the UK anymore, that’s it. Microsoft has already come out and said they’ll close if the CMA doesn’t approve it.
@theSpectre smaller!?! How small do you think Sony is?
Phil Spencer’s has come out and said that Microsoft has already lost the console wars back in 2017 if I remember correctly, he’s also said a number occasions that none of Microsoft studio’s can match naughty dog, which Phil believes is the best studio at making games.
There’s also proof back in the original Xbox that they never wanted to buy publishers/big studios. They didn’t start doing that until Sony started showing their monopoly like strategy Ways and flexing that they can get exclusives from third-party developers at a Way cheaper price and still be profitable.
Sony didn’t really give them much choice. It was smart by Sony because it allowed them to be a monopoly and Microsoft didn’t really understand the gaming business. Phil has a pretty good grasp. But in order to fix the issue, they had to start buying big IP’s to shift the momentum for equal ground.
If you look up Microsoft reviews on their first party games, they have actually been pretty successful. The problem is is there’s no point in me buying Forza, when I have Gran Turismo, Forza Horizon alternative need for speed.
@theSpectre @MikeOrator business-wise yeah, Microsoft is a beast, but the category/market of the video game industry, Yes, Microsoft is actually the underdog.
Sony business-wise is also a beast and they are the mega supreme leader in the gaming industry market. Plus Sony’s business strategy is actually a monopoly, according to the regulators. That’s why Microsoft is actually winning against them.
Plus, Microsoft isn’t taking all the games against them away. PlayStation still has the MMOs, call of duty, and Minecraft.
Microsoft doesn’t have a choice but to buy studios and or publishers, in order to be in the gaming market (industry).
Phil wasn’t wrong when he said it don’t matter if one game is 11/10. PlayStation and Nintendo are established platforms. Microsoft most buy ips people know and hope people swing over to there console. Right now there’s no need.
Microsoft already own Studios have been producing great games. Example Forza and Forza Horizon, but people don’t feel the need to own Xbox when they have Gran Turismo and NFS Heat.
Look up Xbox exclusive reviews. They have got a lot of good reviews from there games.
This merger isn’t bad. PlayStation will be fine. I think this will push all four (Sony, Microsoft, Nintendo, and Valve)
@MrMagic so you guys do need to do some research, the amount of money that Sony pays for exclusives and licenses is not the same price that Microsoft has to pay, and Microsoft doesn’t have the market consumer percentage to recoup that money from that market.
Microsoft and Sony don’t get rich by just throwing money away and not getting that return, that’s called bad investment.
Plus, if you said, Microsoft is keeping Games multiplatform, which is what you’re saying. So, what’s the problem? I don’t see anything dirty there, but Spider-Man was multi platform, but now is no longer, you don’t see anything dirty there?
Psychonauts 2, Minecraft, Minecraft dungeons, Minecraft legends, all dlc for fallout 76 and ESO, sounds like all the COD will be too.
MLB the Show and Sony was forced by MLB to release on Xbox, that’s all Sony does.
Be Real! If Sony bought Activision you wouldn’t have had a problem with it.
Sony believes if it existed on another platform (PlayStation) it should stay on that platform, and almost all Sony fans agree with that statement from Jim Ryan. What about Spider-Man? Hypocrites.
@Jamesblob yeah publishers. And if you look up the research and the regulators findings that came out and you’ll see they still won’t be number one or number two in the gaming industry.
@Jamesblob see the problem with your statement is that Microsoft OS system versus video games is two different categories when you combined them and try to build a monopoly out of them. It doesn’t work according to the law.
They’re two different categories
They’re not a monopoly. But if you look at the law in their definition of monopoly, Sony is actually been displaying monopoly tendencies.
Sony created this. They just messed with the wrong people. In order for Microsoft to stay relevant in the video game field, they resorted to buying studios. Microsoft has been keeping a lot of their games multiplatform, some of them still on PlayStation.
@Sekijo @Toot1st Sekijo do you really think Sony started all their studios? They bought the majority of them, and they were proven studios before Sony bought them.
Sony hasn’t done everything in the up and up like you guys keep advertising.
Like Toot1st said and I already said Microsoft makes good games. You’re just stuck and don’t need it because you feel successful with your PlayStation, which is totally fine.
But don’t get upset because Microsoft is getting exclusives, Sony, Nintendo, Amazon, Apple, and Google are doing the same thing.
In my opinion, Sony’s leading the pack.
Everyone really needs to be scared of Tencent.
There have been rumors that Tencent is working with logitech to make their own console. Tencent has more studios and developers combined.
@Sekijo let’s go with your point about the NES versus PlayStation so I’m trying to figure out how old you are.
But when the PlayStation came out, they went disc base which was 20-50 times cheaper than the NES cartridges, so it was easier to make games for so literally almost every third party went exclusive to PlayStation, because of how much cheaper it was to make games for. Nintendo had the same logic as Sony about being blockbuster and not wanting to change.
You still haven’t proved how it’s a monopoly. The only thing you brought up is bad decisions made by companies. But you still haven’t brought up how it’s an actual monopoly.
You sound like the FTC. How does this hurt consumers and the competition?
Sony is too big and too strong. This one merger right now isn’t gonna hurt them.
Pay attention and see how powerful the Sony fan bases heck go to websites and pay attention to the websites. In the comments they make even the Xbox websites are Sony fans.
You really think this one merger is gonna hurt them, and take away the top spot? Activision‘s biggest title is still going to remain on PlayStation, as long as one exists.
The proof is look at Minecraft, Minecraft came out in I think 2012 or something, still remains on PlayStation, and there’s no advantage of having it on Xbox. Matter fact, correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t Minecraft on PlayStation extra?
@UltimateOtaku91 if you, Google you’ll find when Xbox first came around Sega actually wanted Microsoft buy them. Bill Gates thought that they could be successful without buying big publishers.
I know there’s people out there that don’t believe this, but I don’t think Microsoft is a malicious company that would buy people without wanting to be bought. I do think they want money and sometimes yes, it leads to monopolies, but I haven’t seen them maliciously buy anybody yet.
There was a game informer, and an interview with Evan Wells the CEO of naughty dog that Sony hostel bought them and they found out that Sony was getting ready to buy them, so the hurried up and sold the crash bandicoot IP because they didn’t wanna get stuck, making crash bandicoot games for the rest of their lives.
Fun fact, it’s actually a trivia question and one of the game informer magazines
@UltimateOtaku91 call dude 100% agree with you with his online service subscription live service games.
It’s killing Ubisoft. Ubisoft is definitely trying to hard to find their cash cow (like Fortnite).
I read a rumor somewhere that Sony is trying to release 15 live service games from their own studios. Supposedly socom is one of them. The last of us factions was or maybe still is one them
@Sekijo actually, Activision was actively looking for somebody to buy their company, not the other way around.
Again, you use the word monopoly but you haven’t given any real examples of a monopoly. This is just more of a classic case the rich get richer and you don’t like it.
Exclusives come and go. Every console has them.
Dude, you’re missing the point. If I’m a PlayStation gamer, which I’m a whole Gen ahead of the Xbox, and when the PS2 came out correct me if I’m wrong, but the Xbox didn’t come out until the year two or three later. Why would I need to jump ship if I’m used to this used to these other IP’s?
Plus, I’m used to the consul interface. I’m used to the controller. I also have kids who will play on my PlayStation that I bought and the chances are they will actually grow to be PlayStation fans to.
Face it that Xbox one era really killed them. Which Phil has acknowledged
@Sekijo my issue with you is if you go and look at their reviews for their first party games actually haven’t been bad. Their ratings of actually been pretty good.
The problem was during the Xbox one era Dan Merrick, I think was the guy that was running at Xbox at the time, ran it down to the ground by his Kinect security spying, digital only advertising, always connected online. Is what killed them not their first party games.
The studios that they own also produce different games that don’t necessarily appeal to everybody but are rated high
since the Xbox one sales also killed them, and they lost a lot of their developers
@UltimateOtaku91 see, I agree with what you’re saying there, but my issue is since the PS4, when they didn’t have no competition, and Microsoft was almost out of the console wars, Sony got really complacent.
I think you’re the guy that I told, like if you look at there big IP’s they’ve had in the past they never came out during the PS4 era. Literally twisted metal has been on every platform that Sony has produced except during that era. Even had twisted metal on PSP vita.
Socom was literally their first online multiplayer game from first party. Plus, I think socom 3 was the first real battle royale game that actually came out, and that was during the PS2.
@Somebody I know I said it wrong but either way I know for a fact he hasn’t lied yet. I have yet to catch him in a lie. he’s been pretty consistent on the message that he’s been trying to send out.
Like I know, a lot of people were making fun of them when he said in the trial that they’ve lost a Console war, but he actually said the same thing in like 2017 and if you actually listen to his reasonings, he ain’t wrong. Plus, it’s also why they haven’t been keeping track or announcing Xbox Console sales.
He’s even said back in 2016 or 17 that he sees a future with no exclusives, and the only competition is who offers the better features
@Sekijo but they do have games to compete. The problem is why go to xbox when you’re so used to the games that are on PlayStation. that’s the problem they need existing IP’s in order to convince you to come over.
Forza Horizon five is an amazing game, halo infinite still got good reviews. Age of empires just came out. It’s been getting phenomenal feedback and reviews.
Again, if I’m used to my PlayStation titles like Gran Turismo, why try Forza?
You might hate this, but it makes perfect sense of why they’re buying these companies. And they’re not buying these companies maliciously these companies are wanting to sell to them.
As far as Spider-Man goes, they actually give a reason why they didn’t buy it if you look it up. It was a pretty good reason.
@UltimateOtaku91 @Somebody when he said that I think he was just referring to call of duty, because I do believe Diablo Crash Spyro and some other titles will be exclusive. I don’t thanks they wanted to compete this way in the console market because I think if you get them in a room by themselves, I think they would’ve ditch the Xbox a while ago and just a game pass but because Sony has such a hold on the console market. They could literally demand a percentage of income from GamePass being on PlayStation.
@UltimateOtaku91 @Somebody I think I did use the word IP’s, somebody
But like I said, I think this is a good thing because the fact that we’re all talking about this and are going on about it means that Microsoft is stepping their game up, which I do think is better for competition. Competition should equal better games and better prices.
@UltimateOtaku91 look I don’t agree with you, but I don’t have an issue with you.
He’s only reason I’ve pointed you out a couple times I’m just lost on while you’re on the Xbox website went on the PlayStation website you literally said you traded your Xbox in but you still pop over to make comments. Talking about how Microsoft has no IP. But they don’t release any first party games but they’ve literally had a ton of first party games come out all year and I think five of them came out on PlayStation.
I ain’t got no issue with you, but I do think competition is good and the fact that we’re all talking about this means that Microsoft is stepping up their game, which is putting everybody on notice, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, because better competition equals better games and better prices
@Sekijo look I’m not upset about the Spider-Man. I bring it up because you’re upset about Microsoft making stuff exclusive but it’s OK for Sony. You’re kind of being real hypocritical.
As far as all the rare titles that you bring up, correct me if I’m wrong, but didn’t Nintendo sell rare to Microsoft that kind of negates your whole argument.
The FTC literally talks about what the definition of a monopoly is. And Tony has literally done every single one of them with the PlayStation.

@Rafie you’re missing the point that I’m trying to argue I don’t care about the Spider-Man rights.
You said, marvel went up to them. True. activision went up to them. Bethesda went up to them.
But by your statements this activision, Microsoft merger, shouldn’t be an issue

@Flaming_Kaiser I wish Microsoft made all there games exclusive.
I wanna push the competition to the max.
As someone who’s older and owned all the PlayStations, I know Sony can produce better first party titles, more frequently, and better quality.
Re: Dying Light Studio Techland Set to Be Acquired by Tencent

@IamJT it sucks, but that’s the gaming industry unfortunately.
Remember though, better the competition, the better the games and prices are, even for the console systems themselves.
Re: Dying Light Studio Techland Set to Be Acquired by Tencent
@IamJT that’s not different.
Sony was approached by Marvel
Microsoft was approached by Activision
Most of Microsoft games are on ps anyways
Psychonauts 2, Minecraft, Minecraft dungeons, Minecraft legends, all dlc for fallout 76 and ESO, sounds like all the COD will be too.
MLB the Show and Sony was forced by MLB to release on Xbox, that’s all Sony does.

@MrMagic yes, you need to do some research. Sony owns the movie and gaming rights to Spider Man. Spider-Man is a great example.
I don’t care that Sony owns Spider-Man. I don’t care that Sony and Microsoft are buying Studios and Publishers as long as the playing field is even.
This move by Microsoft doesn’t even the playing field. This will barely move the needle.
Microsoft isn’t done and either is Sony.
Re: Dying Light Studio Techland Set to Be Acquired by Tencent
@jimbouk so it’s okay to buy Studios but there’s an unwritten rule of the size?
There’s nothing wrong with this purchase. Xbox (Microsoft) still makes it to where you can play on multiple devices, yes the one that supports GP.
What’s Spider-Man 2 launching on?
Re: Dying Light Studio Techland Set to Be Acquired by Tencent
@StrawberryTurtle no, I wouldn’t get to excited just yet. Tencent is rumored to be making a console

@jimbouk Microsoft didn’t start it. I believe Sony did bud

Re: Sony and Microsoft Sign a 'Binding Agreement' to Keep Call of Duty on PlayStation
Re: Sony and Microsoft Sign a 'Binding Agreement' to Keep Call of Duty on PlayStation
@bpomber how is Phil hypocrite?
ABK games will literally be on more devices now because of GamePass. Smart TV, Smart Phones, Steam, Steam Deck, PC, NVidia, and other stream services.
Nintendo and PlayStation are still getting COD
When Spider-Man 2 release, what all platforms is that on?
You might not like it, but that’s Sony’s ecosystem problem.
Re: FTC Fails to Delay Microsoft's $69 Billion Buyout of Activision Blizzard
Re: FTC Fails to Delay Microsoft's $69 Billion Buyout of Activision Blizzard
Re: FTC Fails to Delay Microsoft's $69 Billion Buyout of Activision Blizzard
Re: FTC Fails to Delay Microsoft's $69 Billion Buyout of Activision Blizzard
@UltimateOtaku91 call dude 100% agree with you with his online service subscription live service games.
It’s killing Ubisoft. Ubisoft is definitely trying to hard to find their cash cow (like Fortnite).
I read a rumor somewhere that Sony is trying to release 15 live service games from their own studios. Supposedly socom is one of them. The last of us factions was or maybe still is one them
Re: FTC Fails to Delay Microsoft's $69 Billion Buyout of Activision Blizzard
Re: FTC Fails to Delay Microsoft's $69 Billion Buyout of Activision Blizzard
@Sekijo my issue with you is if you go and look at their reviews for their first party games actually haven’t been bad. Their ratings of actually been pretty good.
The problem was during the Xbox one era Dan Merrick, I think was the guy that was running at Xbox at the time, ran it down to the ground by his Kinect security spying, digital only advertising, always connected online. Is what killed them not their first party games.
The studios that they own also produce different games that don’t necessarily appeal to everybody but are rated high
since the Xbox one sales also killed them, and they lost a lot of their developers
Re: FTC Fails to Delay Microsoft's $69 Billion Buyout of Activision Blizzard
Re: FTC Fails to Delay Microsoft's $69 Billion Buyout of Activision Blizzard
Re: FTC Fails to Delay Microsoft's $69 Billion Buyout of Activision Blizzard
Re: FTC Fails to Delay Microsoft's $69 Billion Buyout of Activision Blizzard
@UltimateOtaku91 @Somebody when he said that I think he was just referring to call of duty, because I do believe Diablo Crash Spyro and some other titles will be exclusive. I don’t thanks they wanted to compete this way in the console market because I think if you get them in a room by themselves, I think they would’ve ditch the Xbox a while ago and just a game pass but because Sony has such a hold on the console market. They could literally demand a percentage of income from GamePass being on PlayStation.
So Microsoft has to it’s Xbox, Console
Re: FTC Fails to Delay Microsoft's $69 Billion Buyout of Activision Blizzard
@UltimateOtaku91 @Somebody I think I did use the word IP’s, somebody
But like I said, I think this is a good thing because the fact that we’re all talking about this and are going on about it means that Microsoft is stepping their game up, which I do think is better for competition. Competition should equal better games and better prices.
Re: FTC Fails to Delay Microsoft's $69 Billion Buyout of Activision Blizzard
Re: FTC Fails to Delay Microsoft's $69 Billion Buyout of Activision Blizzard
@Sekijo look I’m not upset about the Spider-Man. I bring it up because you’re upset about Microsoft making stuff exclusive but it’s OK for Sony. You’re kind of being real hypocritical.
As far as all the rare titles that you bring up, correct me if I’m wrong, but didn’t Nintendo sell rare to Microsoft that kind of negates your whole argument.
The FTC literally talks about what the definition of a monopoly is. And Tony has literally done every single one of them with the PlayStation.
Re: FTC Fails to Delay Microsoft's $69 Billion Buyout of Activision Blizzard
@UltimateOtaku91 do you know how many movies are called the forest
