Good. As much as I love the Vita, I don't want to see Sony invest in ANOTHER handheld just to overprice it, under-support it, and watch it mocked and die a horrible death.
At this point, if it wasn't for Japan and indie developers, the Vita would be a dustbin. Sony flat-out abandoned the Vita in favor of PS4 and PlayStation VR. Making a new handheld would be a disaster. I mean, all of Sony's first-parties are working on PS4 now. What the hell would that leave for Vita's successor? More indies and remastered PS2 games?!
Honestly, it's done. Nintendo owns the handheld market and mobile devices never let the Vita have a chance. At this point, I'd rather just continue collecting PS Plus games for my Vita and using it for remote play while Sony focuses their efforts are making PS4 games now. It's better than Sony spreading themselves thin trying to make games for two platforms while losing millions (billions?) on a handheld no one will buy.
Just remaster Wipeout HD + Fury from PS3 for PS4 and release it as a PS Plus game. That or remaster Wipeout 2048 for PS4 as a PS Plus game (what's one less Vita exclusive?)
I doubt we'll see a new 'Wipeout' title. They reportedly were working on a new one as a launch title for PS4 but canceled it when they shut down the studio. Doubt they're interested in finding anyone else to make one.
@Carl-G Nah, man. Sony never owned Crash Bandicoot. They had a contract with Universal to publish the original games but Universal still owned the IP. Once the contract was up, Universal still owned Crash and Sony moved onto Jak and Daxter.
Really was a dumb move. They gave up a goldmine. That's probably why now they always request IP ownership whenever they publish a game.
As for the article, that's really upsetting. I would have loved to see what they could do with Crash Bandicoot within the Uncharted universe. Like when Max Payne 3 featured Captain Baseball Boy cartoon series. Loved it!
