I'm playing though Alien Isolation just now and for me, it's one of the best and most unique games I've ever played. To see it sit on 79 on Metacditic is a tragedy. Still a good score but it deserves better. One reviewer gave it 4/10 which is beyond ridiculous. And of course there's IGN's infamous 5.9, which probably killed any chances of a sequel.
@Ooccoo_Jr I started my first ever Yakuza game a couple of weeks ago. I started with Yakuza 0 and I'm absolutely loving it. It's not realistic that I can go through the whole series so I intend to play Kiwami 2 next ,then Yakuza 6 and if i'm hungry for more ,Like a Dragon then one of the Judgement games. The good thing with starting with 0 is, [other than it being the best place to start story wise], it uses the older engine [although it's still a looker]. So if you play Kiwami 2 or 6 after it, they both run on the new engine.
I am so happy to be discovering a series as rich as this for the first time.
@JaxonH For you to rank it above Fire Emblem is pretty high praise indeed. I'll be getting it for sure at some point, I just need to eliminate a few RPGs from my backlog first. Next up is Dragon Quest XIS.
I really don't understand the negative tone of this article, it comes across as very fanboyish and I'd expect better from Push Square. Octopath Traveler and Triangle Strategy are both fantastic RPG's with an amazing art style and Square Enix are the masters of RPG's. So why would you spin a new, possibly PS exclusive RPG from Square in a negative way?
@Ear_wiG Yeah, they're a talented developer for sure. I have played Slain, I haven't completed it but I got quite far into it. I first played it before Valfaris, and really enjoyed it and thought it was a lot better than many made it out to be. It can be frustrating though and is quite stiff to play. Especially going back to it after playing Valfaris.
I can't wait to see what they come up with next, as Valfaris took the Slain formula to the next level. Slain 2 would be great as I prefer the gothic theme.
@Kanji-Tatsumi The name of the game is Valfaris. It's a 2D run and gun, kind of like Turrican and Contra. The pixel art is amazing and combined with modern lighting and particle effects, it's a really good looking game. It's a lot of fun too, plays smooth as can be and is enjoyable from beginning to end. You get crazy powerful in it.
Nintendolife are at times overly generous but for the kind of games I like, their scores generally align with my own. It's just certain reviewers, Dom particularly. I don't think I've agreed with any of his reviews haha.
@Ear_wiG Valfaris is superb, I loved everything about it. Still annoyed at Nintendolife awarding it a 6/10,a joke review. Although it was reviewed by Dom so itt's not really surprising that I don't agree with the score. He gave one of the worst games I've ever played a 9/10.
It seems there is little love for Huntdown, which is ashamej. It's a brilliant little game with amazing pixel art, great gameplay and has style in abundance.
As 2020 indie games go, only Hades and Streets of Rage 4 (if we're classing it as an indie release) I'd rate above Huntdown.
@Gmork___ I'm not sure I could have handled it in VR. There were moments in Layers of Fear where I could barely bring myself to go where it wanted me to go. No game has ever gave me the chills and a sense of dread like this game did. Absolutely loved it though and crave to get that feeling again. I only learned of this sequel this morning so I'm well happy.
@get2sammyb @RedMageLanakyn Funny that, especially when you consider Push Square has handed out thirteen 10/10's just to PS4 games. The PS3 received 7 which isn't so much but then Push Square wasn't around for much of the PS3's life.
Nintendolife 10/10's
Switch - 5 (4 retail & 1 Eshop) Wii U - 4 (3 retail & 1 Eshop) 3DS - 7 (6 retail (2 being the same Pokemon game & 2 being Zelda 64 remasters) & 1 Eshop)
Don't forget Arms, too many are dismissing that but I think it's going to take a lot of people by surprise, just like Splatoon did.
@waluigifan "Zelda and Mario will be the only thing nintendo has"
and Arms,Splatoon 2,Xenoblade 2,Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and whatever they will reveal at E3.That is a stellar line up of 1st party games, perhaps Nintendo's strongest first year line up for any console they've put out.
One of only a handful of games I've played that have truly blown me away and I've been gaming since the 2600.I would bet that the majority of those who played the groundbreaking original at its time of release would agree with me that its 1 of their most memorable moments in gaming.I've never had the chance to go back and play them again since the Dreamcast days though and I'm sure they haven't aged too well.I just worry that with the scale and cost of modern sandbox games like GTA to fully realize Yu Suzuki's original vision and give Shenmue the closure it deserves it would need a big publisher and huge team to get behind it and Sega certainly wont be the 1's.
I assumed Plus was a monthly subscription considering what you get but only £39.99 a year for 65 games.I don't understand how this can possibly work from a business perspective?
@get2sammyb I feel sorry for the Vita as it does seem to be a fantastic console with so much potential but is there any titles coming out for it that you think can turn it around sales wise.I'd hate to own it and feel frustrated about it not getting the games or love it deserves.Been there with the Dreamcast,RIP
Never owned a Sony console, for some reason they never appealed to me and I certainly never saw myself getting a Vita but that is 1 hell of deal.I'd be happy with just Fifa and NFS so the rest is just a bonus.I live in Thailand and could get it sent over but would I still be able to play online with games I buy here or is it region locked?

@Apfelschteiner Some pretty small minded generalisation going on there in your comment.

That's a fair conversion for us Brits....

Re: Rocket League: A Celebration to Five Years
I have 580 hours logged on Switch. It's one of my most played games of all time and is, in my opinion the best competitive multiplayer game out there.
