@TuckNorris85 As someone who listens to metal quite a lot, I thought the DOOM soundtrack was actually a missed opportunity. They could have really gone for it, but instead all we got was some timid, half-arsed industrial stuff.
@gbanas92 Austin Wintory is doing some really great stuff. Have you heard the Banner Saga score? It's marvellous. Good pick for #1, although I'm a teensie bit disappointed that Shadow of the Colossus didn't make the list.
Something that irks me about Demon's Souls is the use of its apostrophe. Surely one demon doesn't have multiple souls, or am I missing something? I've yet to finish Dark Souls 3 but more souls-like games from the masters themselves is never a bad thing I guess.
I'm coincidentally just in the process of finishing the original, and bar 1 or 2 hiccups it has been quite an enjoyable ride actually. It does of course help that Rutger Hauer is the main point of view. Should be entertaining for people who are disappointed by the delay of Cyberpunk I'd say.
Edit: when I say enjoyable, I actually meant jarring and frightening. Should be good for people who liked Eraserhead.
I want a reboot of Silent Hill above else now on PS5 (damn these rumours!).
Other than that I would appreciate more games with a steady 60pfs and shorter loading times. Graphics are more about style than technical achievements for me anyway.
@KleebanKliban Thanks for clarifying! I suppose I always consider my Switch to be part of the three main current home consoles as I never use it in handheld mode. I would therefore call it a home console with a handheld option
Would be interested to see more games than just a top three, but as a stats addict this definitely tickles my fancy. (most played games: GTA V, Yakuza Zero, and Mad Max, how up to date am I?!).
@DonJorginho Oh absolutely. It's still as impressive as it was back in 2016 in my opinion. People often talk about Horizon and God of War et al when discussing the best ps4 graphics, but for me this takes the cake, not only for the art direction, but also for the locked 60 fps on a base model ps4. The best reason though to give it a try is that the gameplay is a blast
@Col_McCafferty It's nice if games feature interesting characters and story lines (even though that's very, very rare), which the Witcher certainly does, but I'm the opposite to you, as I play games for the gameplay aspect. It's what sets video games apart from other media in my opinion. If I want interesting characters or narratives I'd rather read a book. Ah well, each to their own of course!

I for one will be buying exactly none of them.
Re: Team Ninja Is Aware of Demand for a New Ninja Gaiden Game
I adored Ninja Gaiden on the NES, Xbox and Xbox 360. Never played the last one though, but I'd happily buy a remaster of the first 3d ones.

Terminal patients to the front of the queue!
Still not sure whether I'm going to get this on Switch, ps4, or PC.
Re: Xbox Boss Phil Spencer Doesn't See Sony As Competition Going Forward
It's a bit like an Arsenal fan saying that Chelsea is no longer competition..
I guess I see his point, which actually makes it easier for me to opt for PS5 as streaming subscriptions can do one.
Re: Latest PlayStation Store Sale Offers Discounts on Critically Acclaimed PS4 Games
You could also buy a physical version of Death stranding in the UK at thegamecollection for 35 quid if you prefer.

You'd alsmost think they're thinking about making the Ps5.
Re: Sony Trademarks PS5 in US, UK, and Multiple Other Countries
Could it be that they're maybe thinking about producing the ps5?
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 309
I'm finishing off Uncharted 2 (quite enjoyable but those platform section are really awful), before starting properly with Blasphemous.

Awa' an bile yer heid EA!

@TuckNorris85 As someone who listens to metal quite a lot, I thought the DOOM soundtrack was actually a missed opportunity. They could have really gone for it, but instead all we got was some timid, half-arsed industrial stuff.

Re: Soundtrack of the Decade #2: The Last Of Us Flipped the Book on What a Soundtrack Could Bring to a Game
@3MonthBeef Hotline Miami! Bloody hell, now that had a good score.
Re: Poll: Are You Happy With Your PS Plus Games for February 2020?
Nothing for me this month as I've already played Bioshock, but that's alright as I'm still playing the Uncharted collection from last month.
Re: Soundtrack of the Decade #2: The Last Of Us Flipped the Book on What a Soundtrack Could Bring to a Game
@get2sammyb Nothing like slagging of best-of lists on the Internet!
Re: Soundtrack of the Decade #2: The Last Of Us Flipped the Book on What a Soundtrack Could Bring to a Game
Just as unremarkable as the game itself! Oh well, at least Shadow of the Colossus will get the top spot now.
Re: Soundtrack of the Decade: #3 - Red Dead Redemption 2 Raised the Bar on What a Soundtrack Could Accomplish
@gbanas92 I'm just using common sense
Re: Soundtrack of the Decade: #3 - Red Dead Redemption 2 Raised the Bar on What a Soundtrack Could Accomplish
So that means that Blasphemous and Shadow of the Colossus make up the first two spots. Excellent choices!
Re: E3 2020 Will Be 'a New and Revitalized Experience' Filled with Celebrities and Insiders
Yes, celebrities!! We've been waiting years for those! Just what we need to revitalise E3. Hopefully they'll get James Corden!

@nessisonett Excellent.
Re: Soundtrack of the Decade: #6 - RiME's Emotionally Powerful Score Was Also One of the Best
I've only recently bought the game but the theme has been running on my ps4 for months now. It's lovely.

"Patients are advised not to die in the corridors."
Looks great, fingers crossed it'll run better than other pc conversions.
Re: Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire - Technical Problems Derail an Otherwise Superb Sequel
@Flaming_Kaiser I agree, the couple of hours I've played between the loading times were great!
Re: Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire - Technical Problems Derail an Otherwise Superb Sequel
"loading screens are up for around one minute and twenty five seconds"
OK BYE
Such a shame though. For the same reason I couldn't really play Metro Exodus and XCOM 2. Looking forward to ssd drives!

Re: PlayStation Fans Are the Most Loyal, According to a Recent Study
@playstation1995 For some reason that sort of cheered me up

Re: Housemarque Puts Stormdivers Development on Ice for Big AAA Game, Announcement Soon
@DonJorginho Stop it! I can't take these rumours anymore! That would definitely seal a day-one purchase for me.

@DonJorginho Someone's getting mighty excited!

@KleebanKliban "You still have Nintendo though.. if you are counting handheld (or hybrid) consoles as consoles."
Why would you not?

Re: Bethesda Teases Next DOOM Eternal Trailer for Tomorrow
"DOOM Eternal might no longer be one of the biggest PlayStation 4 releases of 2020"
It is to me though! Played the reboot again this week and still can't believe how well it plays.
Re: Sony Fails to Infiltrate a Single Spot in Japanese Sales Charts
Nintendoes what Sony don't?.. I wouldn't worry too much, as Sony's main competitor is Microsoft.
Re: Poll: What's Your Most Anticipated PS4 Game of 2020?
DOOM Eternal
Disco Elysium
Yakuza
(And Axiom Verge 2, which isn't included in the poll sadly)
Re: Feature: Our Most Anticipated PS4 Games of 2020
@Col_McCafferty I'd say they do more of telling rather than showing, but like you said, whatever floats your boat!
Re: Feature: Our Most Anticipated PS4 Games of 2020
@Col_McCafferty I like the analogy even though it doesn't make a lot of sense
I daresay games like Dark Souls and Hollow Knight are quite sophisticated though, and they give plenty of narrative by showing rather than telling.

Re: Insomniac Games Is Starting 2020 Strong with a Swanky New Office
Excellent environment for developing a new Ratchet and Clank game in I'd say.
Re: Feature: Our Most Anticipated PS4 Games of 2020
@leucocyte Yes, I've got the same gameplay issues with the Witcher, so I'll be skipping Cyberpunk as well probably.
Re: Feature: Our Most Anticipated PS4 Games of 2020
Completely forgot about the Xenoblade Chronicles remaster! I don't play a lot of jrpgs but am definitely looking forward to playing this one again.
