People here literally astound me. It's almost like they are trying to squeeze lemonade out of a dry lemon. PS Now will never, and I mean, NEVER, be in the same league as Game Pass unless they get day 1 games. By judging on how PS chose to recently market Ghost of Tsushima, that isn't happening anytime soon. PS makes a tank load off of charging for ports, and I expect them to do the same with other titles, much less offering games day 1 on the console.
I am not taking up for Sony here, but their greed here doesn't hold a candle to what Nintendo does. They literally sell ports without giving you a cut if you bought it last gen or not for full priced.
Also, I find it funny how people say "Shuttup telling about game pass!!!" You guys sure never stop talking about the exclusives PS has over Xbox. Turn about is fair play. Literally Sony is basically advertising the Series X with these anti consumer moves, and anyone who defends them are the same ones who'd be first on the bandwagon to bash Microsoft had they done it.
@Omnistalgic Okay then, in that logic, it still should have been free to upgrade with the expansion for PS5. Look at Gears 5: MS gave it a next gen upgrade that would run in 120 fps (even faster than GoS) and a new expansion, all for free if you owned it. There's no excuses here.
@Omnistalgic dude I own and love my PS5, but this is ridiculous. You're advocating for a company that is asking their fans to fork out money to upgrade a game they already bought lol. You don't even have to mention Game Pass: Smart Delivery on Xbox would solve this issue. Sony is basically nickel and diming their fans to death.
@Xenomorph_79 They make a tankload of money from it. They have 23 million monthly subscribers. That means 230 million dollars in revenue atleast (and that's not even calculating in the Ultimate model). Sony beating Xbox was the best thing that ever happened to gaming, because it made Xbox the must have console. I am an owner of PS5 and the XSX, and I enjoy both. But the XSX is the console to own this gen.
Anyone who says that this was the best show at E3 is a Sony fanboy bashing Microsoft. This presentation was absolutely horrible, and the ONLY thing that was good was the FF 8 Bit collection.... until they ruined it by announcing it was mobile and steam only. I would have probably bought this on PS5 over Xbox had it released on both due to PS feeling more like home for the genre. Square is slowly getting the floor mopped with them by Atlus.
Square sure went down the crapper. There was nothing interesting there except the FF 8 bit collection... until it was announced that it was only going to be on mobile and steam. I don't understand them. They would make millions by releasing it on consoles. They just have really lost touch in my opinion. There was a time when Square ruled the JRPG scene. However, I believe that Atlus is taking their crown.
@Alpha_Pulse Definitely not true. You realize how much money Xbox is making off of Gamepass? A boatload. I read that they literally make the price that would cover the games they make. You are acting as if money is being lost here. It isn't. Think about it. There are 23 million Game Pass subscribers. Multiply that times (at least) $10. That's 230 million in revenue for one month, and that's not even including the Ultimate model.
Take Halo 5, for example. In its lifetime, it sold 10 million units, or around $50-$60 million. One month's worth of Game Pass is equivalent to nearly 5 times as much sales as Xbox's best selling game last generation. I have a PS5 and I enjoy it, but don't try to cherry pick a situation to bash Xbox over here. If Playstation had this same deal, you guys would be here defending the model left and right.
I am an Xbox fan, and I enjoy Sony's games as well. But me squeezing a lemon to bash Game Pass is about like me bashing Sony for having more exclusives. Has anyone of you people played, say, Gears 5? Or Forza Horizon 4? They are both the best in the series in my opinion, and they launched on Game Pass. So did the Show 21, but PS Owners had to pay because Sony doesn't give a crap about their fanbase.
As an Xbox fan, I will say I thought the presentation was good. I enjoy my PS5, but I will be honest: It's getting extremely difficult for me to justify forking out $70 for a game. In my opinion, Sony could rectify some of the heat if they acted correctly. For example, when the Show came on Gamepass, they could have easily made it available on PSPlus (or atleast PSNow). It's like they don't care if Microsoft is offering deals that leave their fans in the dust.
For 1st party games, I find myself just wanting to sit it out a few months until the titles are discounted. Whether you like Halo or not, it is every bit (in my eyes, more) of a heavy hitter that the best of what Sony has. In fact, I'd go as far as to say that the closet IP Sony has to matching Halo in terms of legacy is god of war. Forza is up there too, and both of them are literally day one a $10 a month subscription fee. Sony is gonna find themselves in increasingly hot water if they don't start offering better treatment of their fans and not just seeing them as money bags.
Anyone hoping for Bethesda games on PS5 besides those already announced is delusional. Also, plan for it, because Microsoft is probably gonna buy another developer as well. It's coming: Sega or Square.
@BrainHacker There's a big difference. Many people aren't complaining because it isn't on XB, but rather that Sony shunned the PS4 by having timed exclusive DLC on the PS5. I gaurentee you that after the 6 months, it will be available on PS4 as DLC, which means Sony is saying "Here is a non-next generation game with DLC available only to the small number of people with next generation hardware (for six months only!). It would be like Nintendo putting the DLC for Breath of The Wild only on Switch for 6 months over Wii U.
I own both a PS5 and a XSX, and whereas I am primarily an Xbox fan, I don't have a problem per se with timed games or dlc, my issue comes from how Sony has handled the whole upgrade system. Why is it that people who got the game from PS+ can't get the upgrade, despite pretty much any XB game that has been offered for an upgrade is alotted for free (regardless of getting the game for free or not)? Heck, even with Spider Man, people didn't get the upgrade regardless of if you bought it or not on PS4. Not even mentioning how Xbox just slapped a (formerly) first party MLB Sony developed game on Game Pass, and Sony has remained silent. This kind of practice is gonna hurt Sony in the long run.

I am kind of confused on the pricing models. I own the original for PS4 (although I bought it on PS5). How much will it cost for an upgrade?
