@NEStalgia Just wanted to tell you that I read everything you wrote, and thought you made excellent points. It was an interesting analysis with very good writing. Paragraphing and topic structuring were on point as well. Your overall combined post could be made into a great article for a website!
@Bluetrain7 But now I'm wondering just how much faster those load times are on PS5 if the same games are optimized in time for PS4...
It makes you wonder for which console they made these cross-gen games first; did they plan Miles Morales from the ground up for PS4? What about Horizon Forbidden West? Is it truly worth shelling $400-500 plus $10 more each game for 10~ seconds shaved off the load times and marginally less pop-in?
We'll just have to wait and see comparison videos for performance and load times between these cross-gen games.
Suddenly, Xbox Game Pass for $15/month with first-party releases sounds more affordable...
@leucocyte I feel the same way. This is the endgame of digital-only: hike up base prices even though we have no guarantee of less microtransactions or better performance. And it eliminates the Amazon/Storefront discounts 1-5 months down the line, pressuring people to buy Day 1.
@themcnoisy That's like asking Dragon Quest to drop the dragons... Or Monster Hunter to drop Rathalos. Or Pokemon to drop Pikachu. Crystals are emblematic to Final Fantasy. Even the title art for each Final Fantasy looks like a crystal reflection.
To your point though, the trailer subtitle hinted toward pulling a "let the past die" Star Wars The Last Jedi stunt of defying/destroying the Jedi Scriptu-- I mean the crystal.
I don't know... The reveal gameplay trailer looked a bit generic, like the vibe of Scalebound and Godfall, trying too hard to be mainstream. Now that I mention it, Scalebound was also Platinum. Something about Platinum lacks really compelling art / character design.
This was a great game, and I bought both World and Iceborne. Sadly, the social aspect they feature at the end of the dev diary never panned out in the West, thanks to SOS flares and being able to join quests anywhere in the game. Western gamers only care about efficiency and convenience, so they never go out of their way to group up in the same room before and after quests.
I really hope MH6 goes back to centralizing the multiplayer experience. Make the gathering hub an actual place to gather once again. Most gamers will choose convenience over community as it has shown.
One big combat mechanic that drained my investment in Iceborne was the Clutch Claw. At launch, lighter weapons required two mounts, per part, just to deal base damage to that specific part, and the wound would heal after a couple minutes, requiring constant maintenance. I was wondering why quests were taking longer until I discovered that little fine print. Frustration was so high that I just put it down for a break and never came back.
Everyone forgets that the base model for each superhero will probably be the most basic and unappealing costume in the lineup. You'll be playing online and seeing everyone else sporting the shiny, cooler battle pass costumes and feel intrinsically pressured to pull the trigger and pay. This is classic dark programming, and defending scummy micro transactions and battle passes containing toxic psychology as "just cosmetic" doesn't cut it any longer.
Interesting to note is that Marvel is also owned by Disney. Disney got involved with EA's grubby handling of Star Wars, so it remains to be seen if they will get involved with Square Enix's grubby handling of Marvel.
I still miss the Start/Select paradigm, even on other platforms like the Switch. I understand the DS4's touchpad functions like a select button, but nostalgia is a fickle beast.
It's a small thing, but what I'm hyped for is having a built-in microphone for quick and easy party chat. For people like myself who still haven't gotten around to buying a dedicated gaming headset, this will be a lifesaver. Extremely convenient.
Furthermore, just think how exponentially this can transform online gaming. MMO's, multiplayer lobbies, etc., will light up with voices now that microphones will be ubiquitous for every player.
FFXIV ported over to PS5 could utilize this. Just imagine walking into a pub filled with players. Having ubiquitous microphones combined with 3D audio, the pub is filled with voices coming from different directions, all real players talking amongst themselves, background cafe noise mixing with the voices. As you walk into the pub, the haptic feedback lets you feel the difference from the outside cobblestone roads to the velvet rugs and creaking wood floors.
This is how you present a true generational leap. Immersion will experience a revolution on PS5.
The black version with the colored logo and buttons feels extremely nostalgic and cozy.
Now that I've seen the mockup with colored buttons, the original looks like it came straight out of Detroit: Become Human.
Actually, I wonder if the lack of colors was an engineering choice based on the printing/fabricating process. I wonder if color printing the buttons/logo costs more to fabricate.
Mostly looking forward to next-gen Monster Hunter and Kingdom Hearts. I'm also trying to play through FFXV for posterity's sake because I'm such a huge fan of the music, but the cumbersome loading screens around every corner make it extremely difficult to stick with; I almost feel like waiting to see if FFXV will be backwards-compatible just for the hope of improved load times.

Re: Final Fantasy Tactics Remaster Is Reportedly 'Real and Happening'
@nessisonett The soundtrack alone makes Tactics Advance one of the best games ever! That intro cutscene is intensely nostalgic for me 🥲
Re: Astro Bot Has Over 150 PlayStation Character Cameos
Hey PushSquare, I'm looking for an astrobot trailer but none of your articles have it! Do I have to research everything myself?? 😤😤
@Mustoe As a fellow grammar nazi I thank you. Every time I see could care less a small tremor ripples through my veins.
Re: Dragon Age: The Veilguard Reveal Has Utterly Torn Fan Opinion as Trailer Gets Slaughtered
@Cry_Zero Blame Marvel for this new trend. It sucks.

@BigP Basically it's a life sim, but cutesy and corny compared to other games like Second Life.
