@WallyWest I'd say Miles is becoming popular largely BECAUSE of this game. There was only the one film just before it that introduced him to most people.
@TheArt Obviously it all depends on what you're into (and I should probably point out that I'm not completely neutral regarding spiderman, I REALLY wanted to get bitten by a radioactive spider when I was 10) but these games both play sublimely. Particularly on PS5 at 60fps. The feel of swinging around the city is just great.
Just to say, I think this game is possibly one of the most improved performance-wise on PS5 over PS4. In the late game there's a lot of computing time that occurs between turns, and they're drastically cut short on PS5.
@Voltan @clvr Thanks both, you've made it sound similar to Souls difficulty then. I'd heard that marauder guy was just cheap difficult (massive health, massive damage, crazy accurate etc). Might give it a go when it's on sale next
@Voltan How hard is this Doom? I was tempted but all that talk back around release about some guy with a sword and shield being impossibly difficult kinda put me off
I'm so happy Deathloop is still coming to PS5. This deal doesn't really bother me personally too much, I've been disappointed in most of Bethesda's output over the last generation, but Arkane's games have been fabulous and if they are taken off PlayStation platforms in future it'll be a real loss. If there is a Dishonoured 3, and it's an xbox exclusive, then I'm going to have to have some difficult conversations with the wife...
Dishonoured 2 was one of my games of last gen, so this is possibly my most anticipated game this year. And my reservation on this has been answered here - you're not forced to play so quickly as previous trailers seemed to portray, it looks like you can play methodically and then amp things up when you're ready. Can't wait!
I have a terrible habit of getting lured in by Oddworld games by their look, and then giving up after a little while when I hit some terrible difficulty spike. Watching the trailer I could feel the same thing happening again here, so perfect ps+ game for me!
To be honest, I'm pretty happy with PS5, and I think Sony largely killed it with their marketing and releases over the last few years. I've had some great launch games, followed up by Hitman 3 and the God of War update. I'm waiting on Disco Elysium next month, then Deathloop, then further ahead Ratchet, GT7, Ragnarok, Horizon... Even if some of those games get delayed, that's a cracking year for Sony.
Nintendo however, from my perspective, is in dire need of new announcements. The Switch is the first ninty console I've ever owned, and while Breath of the Wild, Super Mario Odyssey and Mario Kart are all some of the best games I have ever played, it feels like I'm just waiting for Breath of the Wild 2 at this point. I picked up Animal Crossing last year and while it was fun for a while I didn't get it's long lasting appeal, and I've barely picked up the Switch since (though I know I'm probably missing out on Hades, but I'm kinda holding out for a PS5 release cos I think I'm more likely to play it on that machine).
All that said, I wouldn't turn down another big State of Play. They've been great recently!
Very much looking forward to this. I've been in the mood for a dialogue heavy rpg type game for a long time, with skills based around dialogue choices. I had hoped cyberpunk would scratch the itch, but it really didn't (in what I played of it at least). I'm hoping this is more along those lines. Love the art style, plus I ***** loved British Sea Power back in the day, really excited to hear they've done the soundtrack and I've held off listening to it so that I can experience it for the first time in game.
@Wormold I played the demo this week and was pleasantly surprised by it. Wish I'd bought that instead of Assassin's (which I've barely touched really, had a wander around my local area and a few towns/cities I know but have no incentive to go back to it). But with Hitman, God of War update, the latest PS+ games and all the season pass additions to Civ, i really can't justify spending money lol
Back in the day I had a jacket that was the spitting image of the one from Resi 4 (think it's still hanging up under the stairs actually). I can't remember but I'm gonna assume it was under £100
It's not great, having never created an ioi account before I've had to start the process of carrying across progress from scratch, and currently unable to log my account on in hitman 2, before transferring that to hitman 3. It'll be great when it's all live in one package and the servers are flowing, but this always online necessity is crap.
Would never have got the deluxe edition usually, but the missus has ordered it on psn as a birthday present. Quite looking forward to the director commentaries personally, I like stuff like that and wish it was more common place.
This is an admittedly first world problem, but I spent so long last year finding a TV cabinet that would house a soundbar, pro, switch, BT TV box and WiFi router, would cover it all up so you couldn't see any boxes or wires, and would allow ventilation / sound to come out. It felt like such a niche product, the only one I could find was on a site I'd never heard of and it cost around £300! Surely I'm not the only one who doesn't want all of the under telly gubbins on display all the time?! Anyway, I was very relieved to find out it'd fit the PS5 once removing the pro (actually fits a little bit better, the PS5 isn't as deep as the pro)
I'm enjoying the game on ps5, even if it is a long way short of what was promised in a lot of areas. I'm keeping hold of my copy - it's gonna be interesting seeing how they turn it around, if they can at all. My original plan, when it was due to launch on the 19th, was that this was going to be my only ps5 launch game. That would've been mega disappointing!
This is brilliant news, been wanting to play this for a while. Plus I've just found out British Sea Power did the soundtrack, who were one of my favourite bands back in the day. Great stuff.
@Gatatog I've been playing through the remastered version having completed the original a couple of years ago... I was just playing to refresh the story before playing Miles, but I've been enjoying it so much I'm just doing all the side stuff again for the fun of it! Also, Ray tracing looks so good, and 60fps feels so good, honestly can't decide which is the best method to play!
I have the disc sat upstairs along with Miles Morales - can't wait for Thursday!
This launch is incredible though, massive hats off to sony. At the ps4 launch I got killzone (bit meh) and fifa (worse than meh). This year I'm getting the two I've named above, a couple of games on the ps+ collection that I haven't played before, cyberpunk in a few weeks (albeit without knowing exactly how great it'll be on ps5 before the next gen patch launches), and then in the new year ratchet and clank, deathloop, horizon, supposedly even gt7 and god of war. As great value as game pass undoubtedly is, this line up of exclusives within its first year is extraordinary, particularly given the situation with covid.
And astrobot ready installed! Keep forgetting about that one!
This game I've avoided playing on ps4 quite a lot because it would have the console absolutely screaming constantly, far louder than anything else I've played. But I've been keeping an eye on the reddit page, and have saved quite a few games to my Play Later list. Looking forward to jumping back in and seeing what people have done with it!
@astrosea To be fair, that game is stuck in position by From's code, which is capped at 30fps. The PS5 was never going to make much improvement beyond load times, because the game itself needs a patch to unlock the frame rate. Any xbox games that are locked to 30fps won't see any improvement on the series x either.
Sweet, been meaning to pick this up for a while and decided to wait when I heard it was coming to the plus collection. These are the kind of improvements I was hoping for first party games.
With save transfer, does it work back and forth between the 4 and 5? So for example, if I was to buy the ps4 edition of planet coaster, I understand that I'll be able to upgrade to the 5 edition and I'm assuming take my save to that console via the playstation plus cloud. But if I then want to play on my ps4 in another room, can I then take my ps5 save back to the ps4?
I wish it allowed you to send screenshots and videos direct to the app, so you can share via whatever you want to on your phone. Xbox has introduced that with the series x. I don't like sharing things across all my friend lists, but it'd be great to be able to easily WhatsApp mates who are actually into gaming.
