That sounds excellent. The mechanics in the previous games are great but it's a low skill ceiling and feels pretty mindless after a while. I wasn't planning on getting this on release, l loved the first two but felt a little burnt out by the end of MM, but it is sounding better and better!
@Topov81 I thought it was, though doing a Batman-gravel voice cos of the whole Venom thing.
I'm currently in the middle of Zelda TOTK, and I don't think anything shown this evening is gonna beat that for my personal game of the year. But, for almost completely opposite reasons why I love TOTK, this looked incredible. My main concern, that there won't be enough variation compared to the previous games, looks somewhat unfounded. Fair play Insomniac! Very excited!
Very excited (and actually got some time off next week!) for Tears of the Kingdom, but I've snapped up Rollerdrome too from here, be nice to have something arcadey to break it up.
@thefourfoldroot1 Really?! What games were they censoring and why? I always thought it was just crazy-strict governments that censored things, why would content creators?
@LanceC77 I think there was a rumour it was on game pass but there was nothing to it. It's just for this weekend, along with a few other ubisoft games I believe.
After playing for a couple of hours I'm honestly shocked that nobody's made a game already where you play as a cat, milling around doing cat stuff. It's such a simple but great premise for a game.
CODA is a great film, and the Tom Hanks futuristic film was good (thought the WWII was pretty weary personally). Ted Lasso was good, and For All Mankind was good what I saw of it (wife had zero interest so didn't see much before my six months ran out)
I haven't played this since Elden Ring launched, but am definitely going to return to it eventually. Gonna load it up quickly and turn this option on before I forget it exists though!
@tinCAT-zero I'd say I am a fan of the series, having bought all of the games since 3 (except for perhaps the motorbike one). The only reason I haven't already snapped this up is the price and proximity to two other big releases. But the grind has always been my least favourite aspect of previous GT games, as it locks away content behind HOURS of busy work. What particularly sticks in my mind were the Ferrari 330 P4 and the Jaguar XJ13 in GT5, two beautiful cars that the game hyped up. But they cost (I just double checked) 20 million credits each. I would have had to play for hours and hours just to unlock those two cars.
The fact their introducing microtransactions as an option to circumvent the grind is bad enough, but then to reduce the credits you earn in game a couple of weeks after all of the reviews have been written is inexcusable and feels incredibly exploitative.
@BRT15 The only reason I didn't get it at launch was because of the Elden Ring and Horizon double-whammy just before it. I am really tempted to pick it up, and if it hadn't been for these issues last week I may have snapped over the weekend. But now I'm definitely going to hold out until price has gone WAY down or they fix the in-game economy. Server issues are annoying, particularly when you don't even care about playing online much, but the microtransaction ***** is too much for me.
Last night my PS5 crashed and I had to wipe everything and reinstall the OS. While it's kinda annoying having to reinstall everything, what really hurt were all my captures of ridiculous deaths in Spelunky 2, together with the exasperated screams and curses that the mic picked up, were also gone. Can't wait for this feature!
I imagine there's some good stuff here, and for general driving away from the music related modes there'll be loads of gt playlists knocking about on spotify.
@riceNpea Exactly why this functionality taking so long to implement has been annoying - the ability was there, but only if you bothered someone on your friends list. I don't really use social media, but the xbox has been good for sending the odd thing to mates who are interested (for example flying over, and then kamikaze-ing, their house in Flight Sim)
I'll admit I have very little interest in this (unless reviews turn out really positive, in which case I might check it out) but that poster is rough. It looks awful.
I'm glad a lot of the comments seem to be looking forward to this, the article seems to be pretty dismissive. I've loved Radiohead for years, and while I try not to be a bore over them i keep coming back and finding more reasons to love them. And their solo projects - Jonny Greenwood is probably my favourite soundtrack composer of the last 15 odd years. Looking forward to this, sounds like a cracking, left field playstation experience!
Civilization is excellent, a game that you can spend hours and hours with. And it runs excellently on PS5, even though it wasn't officially patched the faster loading makes a hell of a difference to the longer turn times in the late game.
@SoulsBourne128 I can't see it being (and hope it isn't) an open world. Spidey is so centred on New York that it makes sense to have an open world around that city. Wolverine is nomadic and has spent decades striving for anonymity. A linear game makes far more sense for the character. I'd be surprised if they go for it, but a game that hard-cuts both locations and time periods would be pretty cool.
@MidnightDragonDX What?! Civ 6 is excellent on playstation. I originally had it on Switch, which was fine but struggled in the late game. I've played nearly 300 hours on PS4 and PS5, both of which were huge steps up in performance to the point where I'm now struggling for time between my turns working out what to do next. If this plays as well as that then I'll be a happy camper!
I've got both games, and to be fair I haven't had a chance to get stuck into Hades at all yet (literally only had two quick runs the other day), but where's the love for Spelunky 2?! I'm looking forward to trying out more in Hades but it's gonna have to be something bloody spectacular to beat that game. Returnal, though technically amazing, didn't come close for me personally.
Just checked the price on the ps store and it's reduced to £16.50 for the standard version or £22.50 to include all of the year 1 dlc!
Actually, searching for games brings up a lot of reduced prices (Demon's Souls and Sackboy are both down to £40-50), guessing these are the summer sale prices but they haven't categorised them yet.
Do Olympic games still trash your controllers? I've never played them since we tore apart my mates N64 controllers on International Track and Field back in the day...
I tried playing this years ago on the og PS4. But the framerate was atrocious, seemed to drop way, WAY down. Also, I was probably too dumb. I love the concept though.
@LivewireCLS Presumably you have a PS5, in which case you should definitely check out Bloodborne. From's masterpiece, and pretty sure it's free in the ps+ collection. You may well struggle to start with, but if you keep at it the reward is definitely there
I remember renting the first and having a proper jaw drop moment on arriving at the first city (Metropolis?). Just panning the camera and looking at the world, felt it was like being in a cartoon version of Fifth Element.
These guys have published some great games, but the original Hotline Miami is still my personal favourite of theirs. Would love to see a new game in that series!
I'm very tempted, it looks like a fantastic showpiece for the console. But I've struggled with the rogue genre in the past beyond the Spelunky games, and Spelunky 2 really pushes my patience to the edge (though I am still playing it almost daily, goddamn Derek Yu, you bitch). But to get the most out of rogue games you really need to commit time to them, and though I really like them I've fallen off so many in the past (Dead Cells, Enter the Gungeon, Into the Breach etc) I'm really hesitant on the genre now. I haven't even picked up Hades yet, and that was GOTY for so many people last year.
I've had a weird bug occasionally, where the X button stops working on the UI. I can still move left and right, just can't select anything. I can bring up the menu to turn the thing off, and I can select things on that menu to restart the machine (or even just rest and turn back on) but it's a weird annoyance
@Omnistalgic Mate, if you're interested in roguelikes on PS5 I can't recommend Spelunky 2 enough. It is tough; I got it on release, but only managed to beat the "easy" run for the first time last week. It's far and away my most played game since getting a PS5, just checked and I'm up to 149 hours (which is kinda sickening lol). And I'm nowhere near to seeing everything the game has to offer.
It is a roguelike though, not a rougelite - you lose pretty much everything after death. Though you can unlock new playable characters and a few shortcuts, they take quite a while to do.

Pretty poor for me personally. But to be fair, Astro Bot looked wonderful, so at least there's that!
Re: Poll: How Much Do You Care About 60fps on PS5?
Prefer it, and I think ps5 games should target it. But Zelda TOTK was my favourite game last year, so I can't be that bothered.
You should've seen my first play through of half life 2 back in the day, on my bag-o-bollocks PC.
