Topic: Do some PS5 games have specific language versions?

Hi! It's my first post here, just bought a PS5 a couple months ago and I'm starting to make my collection grow.

One of my latest additions has been Spider-Man Miles Morales Ultimate Edition, it was hard to track down at a good price and still sealed (of course, I wanted to come with an unused DLC code for the first Spider-Man), but what I got is a portuguese edition.

It says it can be played in English, which is OK, but I can't find any information about why does it have to highlight the portuguese language and flag on the cover. Don't all games currently play in the language you have the console set to? It wasn't like this on PS3-Xbox 360, but Xbox One and PS4 games installed, both physical and digital, the same as if you downloaded them, and they always come in the language matching the system's.

Can anyone explain it to me please? I'm obviously a noob in all things PlayStation.

Thanks a lot!

@Moroboshi876 It varies from game to game but some indeed seem to have several versions, divided by regions.
For example, I'm in Poland and got the Polish version of God Of War Ragnarok and while the in-game text can be set to any language, the recorded dialogue is only available in English, Polish, Russian and Arabic (and I'm pretty sure other versions like German, French, Spanish etc exist)

To be honest, I'm not too sure why the make it that way (I play my games in English so it never bothered me as long as that's available).

Depends on the publisher too. Some Japanese games don’t have an English option so you have to be careful. From Software are notorious for it. I don’t know why they do it, maybe to prevent buying cheaper from different regions.

Thanks guys. I'm in Catalonia, and although my native language is Catalan it's almost never available in any game, so Spanish would be my next option. I'm not sure if this particular release has Spanish subtitles, although I planned to set the spoken language to English anyway. Worst case scenario the text will be in Portuguese, which is close enough to my native languages to understand it.

It's not much of a problem, just wanted to know why did this happen. And, from your answers, I can see that we can still find different versions of the same game in the 9th generation of consoles.
