Topic: Astrobot VR

I might even make a push on some of the challenges or find some of the none collected bots from prior levels.

@Rudy_Manchego have you played the last World yet? 5-1 was my favourite from the last World for the cloud graphics alone. And there is this amazing water section. It's up there with the most amazing sections of games ever. 5-2 is memorable also and brings yet another gimmick to the table! Then all the learned skills come together in 5-3 to the final boss.

So I am done with the main game and am going to try and collect the remaining hidden bots. I did amazingly so far and managed to find almost everything on my playthrough. I need 9 bots and 2 chameleons for the set.

Downsides to finishing the game are those challenge levels are pretty frustrating.

@themcnoisy Haven't got back to it yet. Been too tired to don the helmet (so to speak). I have managed to collect all the bots and chameleons up to world five. Haven't tried any challenges - I want to do the campaign first.I am hoping to get some me time for VR soon. Part of me doesnt want to end it because not sure what else will compare from a VR perspective.

@Rudy_Manchego get on it Rudy! Honestly a part of 5_1 is frickin crazy. T messes with your brain. You are in water.

@themcnoisy Yeah, I loved those little details like that. The seaweed was great too. I must've spent five minutes banging my head around just to watch the seaweed.

@Octane Yeah that's pretty epic. I enjoy the sections when you can see your own Avatar too. Damn fine game. The credits sequence remind me of Super Monkey Ball on the GC. I think one of the Amusement Vision team must have been working on Astrobot for numerous reasons.

@themcnoisy Ok, finally spent two nights polishing off the last world and the two final bosses. I actually found the shark boss a bit of a ballache. I mean, not Dark Souls hard but took my simple brain ages to get the timing right. The ghost loevel in world 5 was just so superb and fun, I played it twice just because I liked it so much.

Overall, this is the best VR experience I have had. I mean, even the fricking titles at the end were fun and original. I have said it before BUT if this were a Nintendo game it would be the second coming. This was, in my mind, superior to Mario Odyssey in terms of originality and inventivness.

@Rudy_Manchego nice one! The ghost level was very inventive, I'm surprised they kept it until near the end. Now it's on to the challenge levels.

I've got 11 challenge levels finished with both bots saved. Unfortunately my wife bought me Tetris effect so it's distracted me somewhat - back to Astrobot tonight!

We have both compared Astrobot to Mario which shows you the clout of the series. And I may be saying this as its my most recent platformer played - but Astrobot is my favourite platform game ever.

I still have to do the challenge missions, are they doable? I'd rather skip them if they're incredibly hard and frustrating. I think I have to save a few bots here and there as well, but I definitely got most of them; I'm still missing a chameleon too.

@Octane yes they are doable but can be frustrating. Some become easy when you know what to do (shruiken speed run up a wall I had 15 plus seconds left) whilst some are really unfair (cloud stage completed after 30 goes with 0.3 seconds left and I used all the shortcuts I could find).

Go back and get the trophies for the bots. It makes you appreciate the game even more. I'm not looking forward to the last 17 challenge stages but hopefully can get the 20 trophy by taking the last remaining low hanging fruit (there isn't any).

@themcnoisy Ouch! Sounds tough. I'll watch some on YouTube before I know if I want to commit myself to doing the challenges in that case. Knowing myself, I'll probably get myself stuck trying to finish them all as soon as I start them; and I don't want to end the game on a frustrating note.

@Octane try it. They are good levels. You have to beat the bosses again without being hit as one example. You may find them easier my reflexes aren't as sharp these days and I tend to make the same mistakes. (I edited my original comment it was the cloud level I just about did)

@themcnoisy I would agree - this is my favourite 3D platformer, possibly my favourite platformer. I know it doesn't have the depth of maybe some classic 3d platformers but it is just so unique.

To be honest, I am not sure on trying the challenges. I found the last two boss fights hard enough and I don't want to get frustrated with the game. I do got all the bots so all good!

@Rudy_Manchego I have managed 16 challenges now. The remaining ones are really difficult.

Give the torch challenge a go. Its horrible trying to control the torch and Astrobot at the same time. I think my controller isn't aligned properly and I'm not ambidextrous enough to control the damn thing. From really enjoying that in the campaign this level is a nightmare.

So yeah I'm too invested now to let the challenges slide. But if I hadn't started them I would give them a pass.

@themcnoisy I was put off by the boss battles with no hits - I found the shark and alien at the end hard to do without making a mistake and I would just get frustrated. So I might leave most of the challenges and preserve my perfect memories of the game.

Other than that, I actually listened to the soundtrack on Spotify yesterday at work because I couldn't get some of the tunes out of my head. Help me!

@Octane @Rudy_Manchego Got the platinum! Very tough going (only has a 1.4% plat rate) The Shark boss, Tightrope and Haunted speed run are the hardest levels but I snagged them all tonight!
