I went so far as to do the first mission with my hunter, but aside from the sub-par dodge and inferior supers, he's human with grey hair and somehow the model is terrible- embarrassingly terrible. The hair is reflective somehow and it makes it look fake, and the eyes are just weird and make the whole face look plastic. I'll have to post a screenshot tonight. It's bad enough that I may reroll him, but in the meantime I'm running with the warlock. The new sunbro is quite fun.
I'm new to all this Destiny stuff, I never really got in to the first one that much. I have a couple of questions
1) Is there a guide or something that explains all these engrams, light, gear, colour, glimmer etc it's very confusing at the moment. I'm spending stuff but not sure if it's valuable or not?
2) Why is everyone in the Crucible able to kill me in one shot with a handgun but my assault rifle can unload a whole clip without hardly reducing their health bar? And some people seem to have shield bars as well (yellow bar?)
TIA
Can't think of anything good to put here just yet, watch this space...
Played the first mission with both Hunter and Warlock, first impressions are Hunter is nicer to control but feels weaker and abilities seem worse, Warlock is a bit slower to move but has better abilities and feels stronger in a fight. Think I'll be sticking with Warlock, was looking at its sub-classes and they look a lot better than Hunters too
A few friends of mine are trying to talk me into this game, but with so many games coming out in the next few months, AC:O, SoW, and CoD:WWII, I don't want to be bogged down by such a grindy game. Maybe if there's a good Black Friday Sale on it I will snag it but honestly I am afraid to get into a game like this, I don't want a repeat of WoW.

@Splat If it's anything like D1 glimmer was only really used to stock up on heavy ammo. I haven't spent any money yet on D2 and don't even think about it really, just find everything in the field.
Maybe it serves more purpose in the end game.
@Tasuki I can't see how this game could be as addictive as a fully fledged MMORPG. How some people got thousands of hours out of D1 I'll never understand. It's no more addictive than Diablo.
@Tasuki Very solo friendly, public events pop up as you play so you can join and help others out for a few minutes then go back to what you were doing before. Matchmaking is in strikes, which are 3 man missions which can require a certain level of team work but no real communication is necessary unless you're playing on the hardest difficulty ones (called Nightfall). They are allot of fun. Then their is the raids, lots of fun to be had but mics generally required. I've only done 4-5 raids in all my time with D1. Was very fun playing with the guys on here.
@Tasuki I'm sure you'll enjoy it, based on you liking Diablo and Borderlands. I know what you mean though, sometimes you just don't want to open the Pandoras Box even if you know you'll like what's inside. It's a commitment thing lol.
It's not as addictive as you might think though, overall.
@kyleforrester87 Yeah that's my main thing. I was so wrapped up in WoW last gen that it became the only game I played and I missed out on alot of other games. When I hear that a game is like that especially when the MMO word is thrown in I get scared. One reason I stayed away from the first one.
Wonder if they have a demo or something like play to level 10 for free or something like that.

@kyleforrester87 I played the Destiny beta years ago, and I remember how it plays, was mainly curious if there was anything new gameplay wise to Destiny 2.

@Tasuki I played d1 solo and enjoyed it quite a lot. I did all the content except raids.
The WoW parallel is very very strong, though, and in that respect d2 basically is destiny's "burning crusade" (first full reset, boxed retail package), with the xpacs basically being like wow's major patches (new raid, new dungeon, higher ilvl). There are even dailies and reputations to grind.
One of my favorite things about the game is the freedom they give you. You can play how you want. I'm a level 15 and out side of public events, it's been all solo for me.
I do really like public events tho. It's really seamless everyone goes to that spot kills what needs killing grabs their loot and then back to what you were doing.
@Splat what do you think of the strikes? I've not unlocked any yet myself. If you haven't done one yet I think you'll love it. I remember my first D1 strike. Taking it kinda slow this time, only level 11
