Just finished my first playthrough this afternoon. No spoilers but I felt the story (at least my one) got a little weaker at the end. That said, ending stories can be notoriously difficult and it's not like I would say it did a bad job of wrapping things up.
Overall I really like the game. It suffers from a lot of the same problems that all these types of games struggle with (lack of choice at times, confusion over what some of the options mean, etc).
The whole world and concept they've come up with felt really believable and I really found myself invested in all the characters. I played in sittings of roughly an hour or so at a time, almost like watching a TV series and it flowed really well. In fact, I kind of feel like this story could be fleshed out a bit more and actually made into a TV show.
Definitely recommend to anyone that's on the fence about it.
No spoilers here. All I can say is im on chapter 17,so far ive never seen better graphics in any game, even better than god of war. Cant imagine how it would look on a 4k tv/.
Just completed my first playthrough. What a great gameš! 8.5-9 from me.
Wouldāve scored it higher, but there were at least 2 instances where the writing was so good & then BANG something dumb & totally unnecessary happens that ruins it- Damn it Jerrys!.
I got a ānear perfect-goodā ending, but unfortunately Kara & Alice ended up in a dumpster. At least they were together.
Ended the game with 48% trophy completion, so there looks to be a whole lot of content I missed out on (~10hours).
Wonāt go for the platinum, but Iāll be starting my second playthrough after work today. Thereās at least 6/7 major decisions that Iām going to flip as I take down mankind & save the other character.
Easily the best QD game. Highly recommend. Credit to Kara, Markus & Connorās actors, they were incredible.

I don't know how but I finished the game with everybody's bad ending. Looking back at my flow charts, I've missed out on vast portions of the game so I can't wait to get stuck into a fresh playthrough. I did free Chloe from the home menu screen, though.
@Octane Wow that's a pretty neat one. I didn't get any of the "hey, you're playing on a weekend then!" stuff but still really enjoyed the little input here and there. After I'd finished the game, it almost made me wish I took longer with my playthrough and cut back to the main menu after each chapter just to get a few more interactions out of her.
@roe I've definitely seen the ''good morning/afternoon/evening stuff''. I've only been playing since Monday too. I was asked to fill in a survey, she also asked me to become friends lol.
Anyway, the I like the game a lot so far. The narrative driven nature of the game makes you keep coming back, and I'm really starting to wonder how it would've played out if I had made different choices.
@Octane Really? I thought the game did a pretty good job guiding the player to a satisfactory ending.
How many lived?

@Octane Oh wow haha. Tbf in my current playthrough I got Connor killed in the first 2/3 hours, but you can definitely save everyone!

@Fight_Teza_Fight Well, one was my own doing, I knew I was going to sacrifice him. The other.. well.. Let's just say that sudden quick-time events in combination with the gyro motions aren't the best thing in the game!
I'm amazed by this game! Just finished it, I never played a QD game before and this was such an amazing experience.
It's such a shame that I got kind of a bad ending, where almost everyone died. They all survived to the end, but they made a sacrifice for the greater good. Only 4% people got the same ending... I'm not sure how I managed that, but it seems like you cannot resolve your matters peacefully with humans in this game
Just finished my second playthough.
Managed to save Kara this time and get her 'good' ending. I was able to get Kara, Alice and Luther over the border and to Canada. Had to sacrifice Jerry though.
Got the good endings for Connor and Markus in my first playthrough so I just tried to cause some chaos. Connor ultimately failed his mission, but Markus was able to successfully lead the rebellion and free the camps- although all his buddies died.
Also Chloe said that my save file got corrupted, which genuinely made my heart drop, only to then zing me lol. Never had that one before, maybe she got some extra lines during an update?
All in all, a fantastic game. Up there with God of War for me, as my favourite games of the year so far.

Finally started this game today and after about 2 hours, itās brilliant so far.
But would it have killed them to put in a sprint button. These androids walk so slow! š
But overall the production quality is off the charts. Canāt wait to see what happens.

Another 2 hours later, and Iām just thoroughly enjoying this game. It is definitely one of the games you just donāt want to put down. But I have errands to run so, alas, the fate of the androids of Detroit will have to wait a little.
The world building is fantastic with a really interesting view of the future. There is a little skepticism over how can we have a world with AI and robotics so incredibly advanced as this, yet Markus has to physically go and pick up the order for a box of painting supplies. Really? No drone delivery in 2038? š
Also I found it amazing how a fully functional Android was advertised at $7999. Is that per month?! If thatās the full purchase price, thatās a steal!
I also am always intrigued when a studio develops a game that takes place in another country from their own, so in this case Quantic Dream is out of Paris and they make this game that takes place in Detroit and so far, itās remarkably true to the feel of a US city (in the future of course), with signs, magazine articles, and TV spots which contain things like hockey. I donāt live in Detroit but I know they love their Red Wings hockey there. But I had to get a chuckle when I was reading one of the in game magazine articles about whether androids should be allowed to compete in professional sports and the article stated the sport of āAmerican Football ... ā such and such ... and I only ever hear it called that when someone from Europe is referring to the sport. Here, we just call it āfootballā š So a tiny bit of localization issue there, but overall impressive.
Makes me curious how an American studio like Sucker Punch is going to do when making game that takes place in Japan (Ghost of Tsushima). Itās got to be hard to try to not make it feel like a game made by a foreigner.
Anyways, rambling now. Sometimes my filter doesnāt work and my thoughts just dump out uncontrollably.
Iām still really enjoying this game. Iām not sure how far I am from the end but I figure Iāve put in 6-7 hours or so. Enough time such that Chloe just asked me if I considered her a friend or not, lol
A few thoughts ā
The graphics, physical rendering and textures look amazing. And at times the animations look fantastic as well. It has an irony to it - the androids in this game have the most human looking faces I believe I have ever seen in a game. But the contrast with the movements is a little jarring. The characters sometimes move stiffly and robotically, but I think unintentionally.
The story is really good, even with all the social commentary and politics woven in. But I can see how some have complained about the story jumping around a little and becoming rushed. Iām starting to see that - Going from plot point A to plot point B with little to no explanation of how we got there. Many games do this, but in a game that has the story as itās center piece, itās more noticeable.
The decision trees and branching paths do make sense for the most part, but there have been instances where a cheap outcome occurred that I was tricked into. But overall, I think Iām able to make choices that reflect where I want the story to go as far as my own ethical investment.
Anyways, I know Iām a bit late to the party, but I really like Detroit. Is it my GOTY? Weāll see. It all depends how it finishes.

@beemo oh my! Thatās crazy how different your ending and story was from mine! I was able to have Markus alive, get Alice, Kara, and Luther all over the border to Canada, and Conner, yeah he dies several time and comes back, but later became a deviant and fought against Amanda and ended as friends with Hank and Hank helps save his life in the end.
So incredibly different. So thatās really interesting about Alice dying also. Hmmm... š¤. So you didnāt even meet Rose or Luther then?
