Just got the retail version today... and a 3.5 GB update showed up! I think it's online-play related since the base game has the new filter option and nightmare mode available; in that case I could happily ignore it, otherwise the "all on disc definitive edition" would sound ridicolous...
Try contacting the game devs or if they have a forum you could try looking there.
To be honest I think you might have to buy the original game in disc format update it to the enhanced version load the game and then log out. Its a pain but better than starting again.
@Reverandjames: You can still start a new game with The Following using a brand new character if you don't want to play DL again. Once at home I'll try to start a Following campaign with my DL character and if it works you could just play a bit of the original game to LVL up and then switch to the DLC. I'll let you know...
The DL EE could be considered as a goty edition of DL and since every single goty edition out there is not compatible with old saves of vanilla games I don't think it's such a stupid thing...
The reccomended level for The Following is 12 because you'll soon need the grappling hook to progress in the main story. I can confirm you can start the DLC campaign with any save file from DL (no need to finish the game) so you could just play a bit of the main game (on Hard I reached LVL 12 in 20 hours but the game was brand new to me) then move to the countryside...
I have just got to old town my skills are survivor 16 agility 13, power level 17 should they be higher at this stage of the game? Should I do some grinding?
Grappling hook is useful apart from when I press the wrong button and end up getting pulled closer to the enemy and then killed I liked Old Town better than the slums even though getting the air drops is a lot harder in Old Town
I still have to unlock the second map; I just beat the "arena" story mission with that giant running beast. On Hard it was... hard, but very satisfying. And having back my inventory was the greatest reward! Great game!
@andreoni79 the screen is the same but they have reduced the level of perks. Like for guns it gave 50% on perk one but now reduced to 10%. Yeah changed with the latest patch.
