I was pretty disappointed with No Man's Sky but the game I regret buying the most is Life is Strange. I can see the appeal of that game but It just wasn't for me. I hate wasting money so I played through it anyway which was probably a huge mistake. On the plus side I'm extra careful about games I buy now. I wait for reviews, I don't buy weak games just because they're on sale and I don't preorder games anymore.
well there have been MANY games over the years i regretted buying but are we limiting it to current gen systems only?
if so i would have to say The Legend of Korra, not only was it a bare bones game but it was also digital only so i can't even trade it in and get rid of it, so it's just sitting on my PS4 HDD (and i refuse to delete it, i paid for it and so it's staying there)

Yeah I was thinking PS4 mainly. It would be so amazing if Sony allowed us to trade in our digital games. I'd take even a tiny amount of store credit for some of my games.
@JeffTurboWizard: yeah even if it was only 20% of the original value some kind of digital trade in function would be nice

Not to many come to mind in this day and age due to the internet. Before buying a game a check out several reviews from different sites and such. Most of the games that I regretted buying were NES games during the NES days cause back then we had no idea if a game was good or bad. Yeah we had magazines like Nintendo Power but they only covered so many games. One game in particular I remember regretting was Bigfoot on the NES. Just like any kid I was into Bigfoot and monster trucks at the time and saw they had a game out. I spent a whole summer mowing lawns and doing other odd jobs to earn enough to buy it so I think that made it worse. Sadly even I was disappointed I still have that game to this day.

Bladestorm Nightmare - one of the worst games I've played ever.
NBA Live 15 - probably the worst sports game I've ever played.

I can't say I regret buying witcher 3, since I got it at deep discount... but I was certainly dissapointed with not liking the game.
Darksiders II was a financial blunder, even at 10$
The FFX ps4 port was a little dissappointing. The game should have stayed as a fond memory in my mind.
Divinity: Original Sin I wanted to like, but didn't have the patience for such a slow moving game.
Knack....
Was talking about this earlier with @TripleGK, I regret buying Overwatch as I've simply lost all interest in it. Worse still, I got it digitally so I can't trade it same story with No Man's Sky, having avoided the hype right up till the last week, I pre-ordered it the night before so I could download it in time for release. Still hoping further updates turn it into something I can enjoy in the long term but as of now I regret getting it. The last game I really regret getting is Little Big Planet 3. When Super Mario Maker came out I got an itch to play something similar on ps4 and as it happened, not long after LPB went on sale for half price. Picked it up but only spent a couple of hours with it but I uninstalled it cause I lost interest. Basically bought it for a small itch that could have been avoided
@FullbringIchigo: " I paid for it and so it's staying there " high five
Tasuki thanks for sharing that my old Man says it makes you appreciate what money is when you go and earn it like I did whole 2 summers to get an atari just for space invaders and frogger.
With Ps4 I have been smart enough to buy games I knew I would be VERY interested in, but in the ps3 era I was terrible...the games that I regret buying the most are Art Tonelico Qoga and Nier...terrible! Little Big Planet was also another huge mistake, I can see the appeal but it's not for me at all.
Shadow of Modror on PS3. I was warned it was bad, but I just wouldn't listen. Instantly returned the next day.
Mirrors Edge. Before picking up a PS4 I wanted to get through some of the critically acclaimed games on the PS3 that I missed out on. I don't know what it was but playing that game made me nauseous + I thought the art style was horrendous. I knew I would never finish it, but didn't want it staring at me on my shelf so I traded it in for like £3 store credit.
Honourable mention: Gone Home.
Got that for free & still feel ripped off. Wish there was a way to permanently delete that from my library/download list.

The game I regret buying the most is Firewatch, it just didn't click with me at all.
Saying that, as a gamer who buys a lot of games, I don't mind when the occasional game I buy isn't something I like. If I only bought things I knew I would like then I'd have missed out on some really great games.

the PS4 version wasn't much better either

@FullbringIchigo: I hope it is cause I ended up re-buying it on the PS4! Saw the GOTY edition for £14 & couldn't resist.
Goes to show how little willpower I have I guess

With my very limited budget, I have to make my purchases count as well, so I usually buy stuff I know I'll enjoy. But it happened once.
I regret buying MGS Peace Walker on PSP. Why? My memory stick didn't have enough space to let me play the game, let alone save data. $40 wasted. Uncle tore into me for that one.

Fallout 4 for me was a buy I regret - I still have it and may start fresh but so far, about 6 hours in and I just couldn't get into it.
A number of reasons - firstly, I had a lot on work wise when I got it so couldn't sink large amounts of time into it. I also found the lack of tutorial difficult (never played a Fallout game before). Probably largest is that lots of friends kept telling me how I would love it and how they were spending hours everyday on it and it didn't live up to the hype. I know it is mega popular but at that time, it just didn't gel and it has put me off open worlds for awhile.
Now I may be an idiot, but there's one thing I am not sir, and that sir, is an idiot
@Hego: I forgot all about Overwatch. Bought that because of the hype. I played it for a few days and deleted it. Just couldn't get into it. Really wish I could return it.
