@Max_Headroom Yeah, RotR is more my kind of game and one I’ve been looking forward to for a long time, though with them releasing on the same day, an air of competition is undeniably present. For context, I was replying to Black_Swordsman in this thread off the back of a conversation from a different thread. Anyway, looks like two great games 😄

I have been well into Blue Eye Samurai and was considering picking up GOT, but now I am weighing this up instead. Looks a little shonkier but I don’t necessarily mind that. I’ll check out a few reviews and see.
Now if someone who is skilled can just create Mizu form Blue Eye for us to DL and use in the game that would be pretty hot and tempting.
@Jimmer-jammer I don't know if I can do it man, reviews aren't exactly stellar and the first Nioh game might be more worth my time and money further on down the line if I'm really interested in exploring Team Ninja games where you can become op. Feel free to let me know how it goes with the game as I know, from your posts, that you're fully committed to it at this stage, but I think i'm out for now, I'll keep plugging away at DeS and get back to you on here once I've beaten Allant after sufficient farming, but yeah, let me know what you think of A Jackson In Your House when you've had time to listen to it and I'll see you on the other side. Good luck with RotR brother!

@Black_Swordsman No worries, man! Games are expensive and if you’re not feeling it, you’re not feeling it. No shame in that. For what it’s worth, there are a lot of positive takes out there, so it’s not all bad. I’m really looking forward to diving in and I’ll be sure to keep you updated on my journey!

So, anyone else played this yet? I'm still playing Alone in the Dark, so I've only managed to put a couple of hours in, but so far I'm finding it quite enjoyable. I don't mind the Ubisoft style of open world games, in fact I quite like it. There's something satisfying about working your way through the map and checking off the icons.
The combat seems like it could be good once you get the hang of it. Parrying plays a big part in this game and at the moment at least I sometimes struggle with the timing. I'm also not too keen on triangle being the parry button. L1 is block and I'm used to having to tap the block button to parry in other games, so that's something I'm still trying to get used to.
The graphics are pretty good if you ask me.
Sure it's no Ghost of Tsushima, but it's far from the worst looking game I've played.
@Bentleyma looks alright. Definitely one I'll try out within the year, if nothing else gets in the way, as I don't mind the casual open world type from time to time. Initially I was leaning towards Ronin day one, but went for DD2 instead, as fantasy just pips historical fiction for me, in this case.
AC Red might be more suited to me, but Ronin being Japanese made is what initially tempted me as it is their actual history and culture they are basing it on
Ahhhhaha, there's a similar thing in DD2 where L1 is weapon skill and R1 is block and parry, and I keep just tapping L1 and geting hit in the face 😁 when games are so similar mechanically but then use slightly different button combos to everything else it can really throw you off early on. Defense is universally left button presses, and having it on the right is just incredibly weird. The sheild is in my left hand ffs 😅😅😅
@Bentleyma I haven’t picked my copy up yet but absolutely can’t wait to get to it. Bit of a weird question but is there much in the way of interesting notes to discover/thorough character descriptions that help to flesh out the time period? One of my favourite aspects of Ghostwire Tokyo was how much I learned as I played. It was almost like an interactive museum and the developers passion really shone through. This game seems perfectly suited for a system akin to FFXVI’s Active Time Lore.
And on behalf of @kyleforrester87 is there music while exploring or is there mostly no music?

I actually like the triangle button for counterspark (video below starts at counterspark tutoria) and its effect is great i too am still struggling a bit with timing, i agree the graphics are good.
A couple more hours in and this is getting better i love fast travel so early in the game especially as i am still on foot, going to try to get some decent time into this tomorrow all being well.
@Ravix Definitely recommend it if you have an interest in Japan.
@Jimmer-jammer There's an in-game encyclopedia and you can bond with your allies through conversations. Pretty sure they were all real people, so hopefully you can learn quite a lot.
@kyleforrester87 There is music during gameplay. It sounds like it's straight out of The Witcher 3, if you ever played that then you'll know what to expect.
@MidnightDragonDX Not that I'm aware of. It's was just a case of getting used to it. I've been playing the game all afternoon and now it isn't much of an issue.
@Max_Headroom I'm enjoying it more and more as I play. I'm liking pretty much everything about it. I especially like working my way through the map and getting 100% in each region.
I stopped watching at 22 seconds at the point he says "I was wrong this game rules" he admitted he thought it was going to be a flop it didn't turn out to be, i am not interested in the parts he no doubt goes on to slate best to just find out for ourselves.
Got a thirty quid voucher for Currys from work, so I grabbed a copy. If I don't love it, feel better about that than paying the 65 quid asking price on there otherwise.
Feels amazing. I suck at Wo Long/Elden ring type stuff and I am doing quite well with this one. Playing on Easy.
I am 14 hours in. This will be as 100 hour plus video game for me. I'm doing everything.
Playing on Ray Tracing mode with Frame Cap off. Combat is soooooo satisfying. I love it so much.
I am a huge Ghost of Tsushima fan and love this just as much.
It's literally Ninja Gaiden : Breath of the Wild lol.
The glider is amazing. I unloccked it like 4 hours in (think I found it beofre story gives it to you. Story part with is is like 6ish hours in. Map is Huuuuge. 3 maps from what I gather. You unlock by raising banners. Great fun.
The grapeling hook is great. I just unloced the grapple assination on the skill tree.
My biggest gripe is the audio. You have to turn 3d audio on (not on by default). Being a Sony exclusive I expected more from the audio. It does not really utlize 3d sound or the haptics too much. I guess I should have not assumed it would have the same 3d sound/haptic treatment as Ghost if Tsushima.
The graphics are what I expected from a Team Ninja game. Great Death animations. Very earthy tones with color. I think it looks great.
