@PorkChopExpress Yeah, saving this for a possible PS+ appearance is a good idea. It is, unfortunately, nowhere near worth full price, in my opinion.

@FuriousMachine It happens more often than I like to admit. But i'd rather knock something on the head if I'm not enjoying it rather struggling through begrudgingly just for the sake of completing it. Life is too short imo and I have pleanty of other games to be getting on with.

@JohnnyShoulder Absolutely, most definitely agree. It was reading Jack Kerouac's "On The Road" back in the late nineties when I first realized that not finishing something I didn't enjoy was something I needed to learn to embrace, but every now and then I want to like something so badly that I try to cling on nevertheless. "Banishers" was definitely one of those, and I still feel a slight pang of regret over what it could have been (I've never regretted not reading a single word more of Kerouac, though )

@PorkChopExpress I played the demo of it earlier this year and it didn't take me long before deciding not to buy it at launch. I'm sure it's a good game, but it doesn't seem to be so good that I need to experience it as soon as possible.

@JohnnyShoulder It's funny you mention the music. My boyfriend said he could still hear it when he was laying in bed and he only watched me play for an hour. I haven't played it in weeks and I can still hear the theme too. You probably saved yourself some trauma.

I kind of gave up on Payday3 but to be fair so did the devs, I gave up on Maneater because it frequently crashes after the tutorial, I gave up on Fire Fighter Simulator because it starts to get buggy further into the missions, I gave up on Lego Worlds because it had some of the worst UI and almost gave me whiplash just trying to control the character, I gave up on Stranded Alien Dawn because once again the UI was poorly implemented. I think Lego Worlds was probably the quickest, I don't drop a game that often but it just felt so bad to play and thankfully it didn't pop any trophies in that short time. I really wanted to like Stranded Alien Dawn too, I love those kinds of games. I hoped for that Surviving the Aftermath/Surviving Mars feeling again, maybe I'll try it again someday. There aren't enough games like that on console so it felt bad dropping it. If there are others I deleted them from my play history before they popped any trophies.

@GirlVersusGame Music and art style are important things for me in video games. I can sometimes ride it through if that is the only thing that I find grating. Metaphor Refantazio the music can sometimes do my head in, but most of the other stuff in the game I am loving. Monster Hunter World the music back at base did my head but that was on top of a few other niggles which eventually wore me down, and I gave up after about 20 hours.

@JohnnyShoulder I can't say I'm surprised seeing as you have one of The Prodigy's best albums as your avatar. They've definitely had an influence on a lot of soundtracks. I can't remember the Monster Hunter World base music, I probably used a lot of Spotify to drown it out. That game got really good with a proper build, the difference was almost night and day. I started off with a bow then after a couple of days changed to what looked like a crossbow, but with bullets. I don't know if you've ever played PayDay2, you might like it's soundtrack.

@GirlVersusGame Good spot! I may check out the soundtrack for Payday 2, as I've never played the game.

Well it only took one day before I gave up on Hyrule Warriors Legends, lol. At first the game felt simple enough but once I got to the 4th stage (out of like 20), I kept getting a game over. The first time was because the enemies had invaded the main base and I couldn't get back to it in time. So I started the level over. Then I got a game over because one of my allies died. I wasted pretty much half an hour of playtime on this stage and I couldn't even finish it. And I was even playing on Easy difficulty! I feel like if I'm having this much trouble at the start of the game, then I can just imagine how much tougher it's going to get later on.

There's just too much you need to keep track of. You need to be constantly looking at your captured bases so that they won't get invaded, your allies and their positions as well as health, your side missions, your main missions, it's just too much management and it's really stressful. This game is just not my cup of tea, even if I like Zelda. It's too bad though because I was enjoying the story. Oh well.

I don't really give up on games. I plough on through to the bitter end even if I'm not enjoying it.

One of my rare recent walkaways was Tears of the Kingdom. I played around ten hours. I sometimes find it hard to get into games without interesting stories unless the gameplay is great - you know, a twin stick shooter, a tight 2D platformer, etc. I will almost certainly go back to this game at some point, but when I was playing it I just wanted something more interesting, something with a story to get into, so I put it on the backburner and it has been there for months.
