Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is locked and loaded for a 10th November release, and it’s Sledgehammer's turn in the spotlight. At Gamescom, we were treated to a "campaign premiere", which looks predictably slick and may entice us for that aspect alone, just as last year's Modern Warfare 2 managed to do.
We're shown the opening minutes of the first campaign mission, called "Operation 627". Players will return to Verdansk, although this time, seeing it from a new perspective and facing a new threat. A direct sequel to Modern Warfare 2, it picks up immediately after the events of that game.

Activision teased that Call of Duty: Next would return to showcase Modern Warfare 3's multiplayer suite, scheduled for 5th October.
What do you think of Modern Warfare 3, were you always on board, or are you giving this one a miss? Prepare for tactical insertion into the comments section below.

I'm boycotting all Activision games, when you buy there games you are supporting Bobby Kotick.
That gameplay was the most pathetic showcase of their "Open missions." Instead of showing what we could possibly do in a non linear fashion they choose the most linear scripted event possible.
Im glad the trailer finally finished so you could do the article, jeez it was boring
@TrickyDicky99
There are plenty of good FPS games out there. Saying you hate all FPS games because of COD is like saying you hate all pizza after eating a soggy slice at a crappy hole in the wall hangout.
I think it’s too soon for Modern Warfare 3. I like that Activision usually change it up each year. Yeah, the gameplay is the same, but the different settings meant that it still felt like a new game. This might as well be DLC for Modern Warfare 2.
Sledgehammer stated that you could stealth your way through levels then proceeds to show us gameplay of someone blasting through a level, for the most part.
Incredible deja vu with that trailer which is of course to be expected so it is a hard pass from me, been there done that, quite literally.
I found funny how much they tried to sell you the main campaign when in reality people who play these games (I'm not one of them thank God lol) don't care, they just want to play online a couple months and then they don't touch it unless they need to level guns for Warzone.
God is it that time of the year already...?
So the CoD 10 year deal thing with Sony and MS/Activision deal etc.
10 years too many I say!
They could release the same game with a new cover and it would still sell millions.
Didn't this start as a DLC? I agree they should've changed it up after MW2. I usually enjoy the SP campaigns.
Yeah iim with alot of folk here. Been off the COD wagon more or less since MW2 and I dont intend to get back on it either. Had MW3 for a week before realising it was no different all these years later so flipped it off.
I have zero interest in being suckered into paying $70 for another COD game. I’ll happily be putting my time and money towards BG3 and a studio that’s actually worth a damn
Great that the Campaign survived another year.
I'm picking this one up, but only for the combined reasons of it being the first COD since I got my PS5 and the first COD I'll have bought in 10 years!
I'm i right in thinking this is the first time ever, that we are getting a sequel to last years COD literally in a row.
Don't we normally get modern warfare, black ops, whatever the other one is.
Have they ran out of ideas.
Either way I've boycotted all cod games for the last 5 or so years.
I'm not that interested in FPS games though, I much prefer third person, so its not really boycotting haha
It seems pretty much taken straight from the Gulag mission in MW2 (The real MW2, not the other one that they just slapped the same name on).
