In news unlikely to alter the downward trajectory of its dwindling stock price, Ubisoft has pulled out of the imminent Tokyo Game Show, citing "various circumstances" and apologising for the short notice.
Ubisoft Japan made the announcement via press release, which was quickly picked up and translated. Due to these unexplained but clearly disruptive "circumstances," the publisher's planned livestream will no longer go ahead. Ubisoft had promised news and updates on Assassin's Creed Shadows, Star Wars Outlaws, Rainbow Six: Siege, and XDefiant.
Tokyo Game Show kicks off tomorrow, September 26th, and runs until the 29th. One of the world's largest gaming exhibitions, the event is held in the massive Makuhari Messe convention centre in Chiba, located just outside of Tokyo. We'll be keeping a close eye on the event and will, of course, bring word of any relevant PlayStation news.
What do you think is going on over at Ubisoft? What does "various circumstances" even mean? Is that a technical thing? Remain vague in the comments section below.

I'm sure there's a multitude of reasons why they did this, but I choose to believe its because Ghost of Yotei made them feel too inadequate.
Ghost of Yotei has overshadowed them
Probably from the AC Shadows "outrage". This is why we can't have nice things.
Because people in Japan hate this game as many others do. Ubisoft basically took a dump on their culture
And nothing was lost but something was gained and that was Ghost of Yotei.
Trying to avoid negative PR.
Removed - flaming/arguing
With fresh outrage form their use of a Nagasaki war memorial in their Nendoroid nonsense I'd say they'd be wise to hide their head for a while.
@RagnarLothbrok Yup, they did so many wrong thing about japanese culture that at this point I believe it was intentional.
Did you know ubisoft make ac shadow figurine that have one legend tori gate for assassin creed shadow? The problem is the only one legged Torii gate in Japan is the one that has half destroyed during WW2 when the atom bomb hit Nagasaki.
When I think ubi could no longer go lower with this game, they did.
The hate train against this game is stupid
Believe it or not, the series where you first fight the pope isn't gonna be perfectly historically accurate. Grow up. And before anyone says anything, Ubisoft is literally my least favorite company in gaming. I don't like their games and I am not a fanboy. Cool? Cool.
@Bigmanfan Same. The only passable AC to me was Origins, and even that was way too long. It's funny that so many fans of the series don't even get that the setting is a desparation move. Japan was always the "break glass in case of emergency" setting. They even tried a "classic" (which, to me, just means "awful") AC game in Mirage. They're desparate.
There's definitely a term out there for people that have no actual convictions, so they get hyper vigilant about things like this. They never yelled about a white dude in Nioh etc. They'd be the first to yell back at anyone upset w a white dude in Nioh. It's performative.
It’s absolutely baffling that westerners have engineered a backlash against AC Shadows. Literally the ‘Japanese academic’ outraged at it was outed as some random white dude. It looks decent, as do most Ubi games. Not going to set the world on fire but who cares if it’s fun enough.
@LikelySatan Yeah. Sure says a lot too when all of their complaints about Yasuke start with "I'm not racist, but..." Always a good sign lol.
Cowardly and pathetic by Ubisoft, whether it was Outlaws, Sucker Punch, or possible Japanese reaction to a multitude of inaccuracies in trailers (not merely a black samurai in Japan, as other posters here claim). Ubisoft needs to be sold immediately, free its good IP rotting away under garbage leadership.
@UntilRespawn "Historical fiction." Like when Da Vinci made a wooden tank in AC Brotherhood or whatever. Or when Aliens happened. Or the magic apple you fight the Pope over.
They probably had some embarrassing Japan inspired dance routine with some hip french dance crew parodying every Japanese stereotype, to crossover with just dance until someone made them aware that that was a bad idea last minute. And of course yotei happened
Probably the game needs a little more polish or some kind of more serious technical issues.
The new Ghost doesn't take place in the Sengoku period so for me (minority, I know) they're two completely different things.
I’m praying that the division 3 is still being developed smoothly.
Cowards 😂
Play stupid games, win stupid rewards
@LikelySatan And not to mention, Yasuke is actually a historical figure. In fact, I might be wrong about this as I'm no AC expert, but he might be the only AC playable character that's actually a real historical figure.
@wiiware Is that the new controversy? A destroyed Torii gate?
Listen, I'm no Japanese historian, but I find it highly doubtful that there's only been one one-legged Torii gate throughout the entirety of history. And even if there was... Eh? It's like if an American got upset about a work of fiction lighting the White House on fire because of its resemblance to real-world events. Or getting upset because two nondescript American skyscrapers were shown being destroyed (which is certainly more likely to cause outrage. But still...it really shouldn't). Or getting upset if an entire movie/game was based around the assassination of JFK — oh, wait.
This is literally nothing. The controversy about the flag is barely anything, only worth mentioning because some group in Japan got upset about it. And Yasuke is nothing. I'm tired of people getting up in arms about every minute mistake or oversight Ubisoft marketing makes with this game.
I think the Torii gate debacle was the final nail in the coffin for this garbage.
I love it..all the fake outragers getting their panties in a bunch over a fictional game that uses historical eras and cultures to tell an interactive story. I don't think any one entry in the AC games have been 100% accurate but at least they go some way more than others to try and draw the player in. I really love it when the keyboard warrior activists get on their high horses and decide to right the worlds wrongs all from the safety of their rooms with all the mod cons (usually using parts made in china) that they complain about and say they'll boycott so vehemently. Don't worry ubisoft they'll soon be back to hating on Sony and the ps5 Pro again..incidently I think the game looks pretty interesting.
Been hearing rumors Assassin’s Creed Shadows is going to be delayed. None of the sites saying that seem reliable, but this does add fuel to the fire.
I actually don’t think it’s related to the outrage.
Apparently they’ve pulled previews of Shadows which leads me to believe it’s getting a delay. Maybe after Star Wars Outlaws reception and their general dip in sales for fear and knowledge of bugs, Ubisoft might finally be taking the right approach.
I am blinking twice - overnight some people in the comments along with the usual suspects online has engineered a hatred for AC Shadows? Must have been one hell of a drug you took before bed.
The level of protection over Japanese culture by guys in fedoras in basements has been really fun.
@jrt87 this this and this
White weebs, Guardians of true Japanese culture lol
Good riddance
@EchoRange @jrt87 Makes sense. I played every AC from 1 to Black Flag, and always found it amusing how it takes historical events, places, people, and makes a sci-fi story out of it. I'm no real fan of Ubisoft, so to see all this hate over more of the same from Shadows is beyond insane. Murderous popes, Aliens and millennia-spanning conspiracies = fine, but 1 Black dude in Japan which we have some historical evidence for = nuclear meltdown? 🤷♂️🤯 Just ignore culture war garbage. It never ends, it's stupid, ignorant, pointless lunacy perpetuated largely by the far-right, and nothing is accomplished from it. Just play and enjoy whatever looks interesting to one's self.
@Bigmanfan Right? We relive memories through DNA to experience the Pope using alien technology to change Western Civilization. It's always been SciFi/HisFi. People are freaking out for the wrong reasons. Backing out of TGS due to possible backlash makes sense for PR, but all of these people in the comments acting like the Japanese public even care about this game is hilarious
Aaaand nothing of value was lost.
AC Shadows got mared in controversy.
Star Wars Outlaws didn't hit the mark at all.
RS Siege is 9 years old.
XDefiant has been circling the drain since launch.
Not exactly a strong line up for a presentation to start with, so maybe pulling out was the better choice.
When I saw Ghost 2 I failed to really think about what the implications of this game existing would mean. Ubisoft is absolutely screwed. They were really banking on Shadows to do well but now? Just from the few shots we got alone, Yotei appears to be on an absolute different level. I'm not sure how much longer Ubisoft can keep taking hits like this.
Hopefully Microsoft don't swoop in to purchase them in the end.
Removed - offensive remarks
@ATaco It's fun for us gamers to think Ubisoft are scared of Ghost of Yotei or will be screwed by it, but in reality, AC Shadows will do just fine for them. Valhalla was one of the best selling games in the entire franchise an even Mirage sold really well for a smaller stop-gap release.
As the first big AC release since 2020, Shadows is undoubtedly going to find a large audience.
Whatever Ubisoft reason, i think it's too late to fix all the controversy and drama.
So what Ubisoft can do is just polished the game as good as possible, released it as schedule, and pray it'll sell well. Because if it end up as a flop then the shareholders / investors gonna do something drastic.
@Ainu20
We'll have to see because their big Star Wars game (a property that usually doesn't need help to push units) really underperformed for them. That and people are really starting to get fatigued with the "Ubisoft formula" along with them getting dunked on for various things lately... it's hard to say if they really will see their usual success.
@ATaco As weird as it sounds, I think in video games Assassin's Creed is probably a greater guarantee of success than Star Wars. But I could be wrong and it could flop, it more or less happened with Syndicate so it could happen here.
@EchoRange Do something with the black culture and see the world burn. I do have a issue with selective outrage. Ghost of Tsushima did put up a high standard.
@torquex yeesh. How embarrassing.
Just out of curiosity, by "Japs," do you mean "Japanese?" It wasn't clear.
You should clarify.
I think Ubi is seriously thinking about reworking AC Shadows, or have serious fear of Grost 2. Yesterday's trailer of Ghosts 2 put whole Ubi into pocket even if main character is woman (again).
@Korgon we can’t have nice things because Ubisoft refuses to make nice things.
They need to spend more time on their games and increase the quality. But they are run by corporate suits chasing money rather than wanting to deliver the best for gamers.
Embarrased?
Yeah like Brits?
Crystal, capiche?
@torquex all besides the "capiche" part...
Open world slop factory.
Assassin's Creed 38: Electric Boogaloo
I’m looking forward to Shadows. It’ll be good fun and it looks cool.
Some of the comments here are ridiculous and you really need to take a good hard look at yourself if you are getting your knickers in a twist over a game that’s not historically accurate. It’s a game. Grow up
Ubisoft got Sucker Punch
@Bigmanfan @LikelySatan You are the hypocrite. Vikings was made by History channel and Vinkings: Valhalla was made by wokeflix and the stories, characters have no correlation.
May not have been perfect but there was a good presentation of constantinople in ac revelations that I remember fondly. And you can learn a lot actually from these games about the culture, architecture, language etc through the eyes of a native from that time.
@Arisen sorry, eh, who was in Constantinople in AC? Which totally accurate hero went there? Way to pick the most ironic example.
And if you think History Channel has anything to say about history, you probably believe Ancient Aliens made the first pyramids or some shiz.
The pic I went with was of a black woman jarl in the show, Vikings. The jarl she is representing was a white dude irl.
Dont care, just sayin'.
It's an AC game, it'll sell like gangbusters come what may.
They're just hard at work on their next highly offensive WW2 figurine.
Shadows is going to be another huge L for Ubi making 3 this year… how many more do they have to take before they wake up?
Removed - flaming/arguing
Could someone explain - in simple terms - what's wrong with AC: Shadows? I'm not super familiar with Japanese history (apart from watching Shogun haha).
AC shadows has curse about it. Like it's not even funny, everything they have done has just led to more and more discourse.
@Kienda
I just wholeheartedly disagree but whatever. Feel how you feel about them. I've had a great time with every mainline AC in the series and just find the drama surrounding AC Shadows annoying and sad.
The culture warriors have just taken over any and all discussion about the game. The game is barely even talked about anymore. Comment sections just turn into "Why is da samurai guy black!?" Like I said it's just annoying and sad as a fan of the series.
@nessisonett no Japanese gamers have been pretty mad about this game from the get go. This isn’t some manufactured western outrage but actual outrage at disrespecting their culture. Not just the yosuke issue but other things such as the game using Chinese architecture in a game that is supposed to take place in feudal Japan.
@KyushuTrail i see what you did there
@VicerExciser insider news spread to them
Looking forward to learning more about #GhostofYotei, the AC formula just doesn't taste good anymore.
Either:
A: Laying low to avoid bad press in the 6 weeks leading up
B: A delay into Spring 2025 (Ubi aren't afraid to delay games a number of months when required/Due to new PS5 Pro updates). It would be very last minute to delay the game with a mere matter of weeks to go though.
Sorry to say, @Matroska, you are entirely wrong! Each Assassins Creed game has real, historical characters at their core. The assassin themselves is a fictional character, but they frequently interact with people that truly did exist in history. However, whether these historical characters behave in a factual manner is another matter entirely...
I like the assasins creed games well apart from the first one which I found to be boring crap , so they've took a liberty with history, it's a video game and it's what the series is known for , didn't see catholics up in arms regarding how they changed adam and eve , most people who have a problem with shadows aren't even Japanese,weird.
@JB_Whiting There are a few things. First is that it looks like Ubisoft didn’t do their due diligence when researching and designing the game. From the gameplay shown the architecture of the buildings (which Japanese people take very seriously in their culture) is wrong, with some architecture not being invented until centuries after the game takes place as well as using Chinese architecture that wouldn’t be there. Chinese and Japanese people have a very tumultuous history so this is seen as offensive that Ubisoft mixed up the two cultures and went “good enough”.
The main thing would be the decision to make one of the playable characters a black man based off the real life person named Yasuke, who in recent years people in the west have begun to claim was the first and only black samurai but the source of these claims in dubious at best. He was at most a retainer, which is a servant/slave to a samurai and their shogun. It has been a huge source of discourse online especially since this game’s announcement as Japanese people feel the west is appropriating their culture and changing their history to fit modern culture standards. People even created AI images of Yasuke in samurai armor trying to pass it off as “proof” which is pretty bad. There are two reasons people are upset about the decision to make Yasuke one of the two playable characters, especially Japanese gamers. One is the fact that up to this point players have never played as a real life person in an AC game before. There have been real life people depicted in AC games as exaggerated versions of themselves but never playable so it is odd they would start now. The major issue though is that in what is most likely the only AC game going to be set in Japan, which has been a long requested setting, there is no option to play as a Japanese man but instead a black man. If you look at every other AC game the playable characters have all been from the area in which they are set, excluding AC4 as that focuses on the West Indies/Carribean area which was colonized by trading companies a century prior to the game and is mostly an outlier to the franchise formula. Shadows is basically set to use the “white savior” story trope. That a foreigner will swoop in to save the minority group from their oppressors as they aren’t capable on their own. This trope is seen to be very demeaning and racist but because the savior in this story is black people in the west are saying it isn’t racist when the Japanese gamers feel it is.
It would be one thing is Yasuke was in the game as an ally who helped the Japanese main characters in their quest, like Leonardo da Vinci in AC2. Then the backlash would be pretty much non existent since that would be par for the course for the series. Making him the hero of the story is what is problematic with some people in the west refusing to accept that having a black character be the hero can be seen as racist to real Japanese players. These people wouldn’t be defending if Ubisoft made it a white foreigner be the hero of AC Shadows as they would rightfully call that out as racist too.
@Fiendish-Beaver I said playable character. I know Plato was real, obviously, but it's not like Cassandra was, and so on.
@PloverNutter "These people wouldn’t be defending if Ubisoft made it a white foreigner be the hero of AC Shadows as they would rightfully call that out as racist too."
The people okay with Yasuke were also okay with the white main character in Nioh,. including the Japanese, presumably, since the game did well. That guy was also an actual figure from history, too.
Oh! Missed that, @Matroska. Apologies...
@Matroska but that guy has a bunch of evidence backing up that he was a real life samurai and Nioh was a pure fantasy game. The only thing people use as evidence of Yassine being a samurai, despite Japanese historians arguing he wasn’t, is a piece of artwork showing two men in a duel with one of them having slightly darker skin than the other. There isn’t even any evidence that the darker skin man depicted is Yasuke. Not to mention AC games are meant to be an alternate historical depiction of real history with the premise that all the assassin/templar/scifi stuff has been hidden from us forever. Look the only opinions I care about are that of actual Japanese gamers as since this game has been announced they have felt the game has disrespected their culture. If there was no genuine outrage in Japan and only by people online in the west then I wouldn’t care at all, but when a real group of people are saying something is racist towards them I think we should listen
Glad to see the pushback from the audience having an actual impact on the devs/publisher.
Ah, it’s one of those articles where people will freely out themselves as being a chud in the comment section. Bravo, guys, bravo.
TL;DR: Ubisoft had literally one job with Shadows and they botched it from the get go.
The good part is probably this one will go to $5 bin soon, maybe within a month or two.
@ChrisDeku
Cannibalistic Humanoid Underground Dwellers?
Ghost ruined it for UBI 😂😂😂🔥
I wonder what all the people speaking of "Japanese feeling rightfully insulted by Shadows" will be saying when the same Japanese gamers will be insulted by the female protagonist in the new Ghost game.
Think I'll support and purchase assassins creed purely because the outrage over a black person in a fictional fantasy story is quite disturbing
@jrt87
"Ubisoft on the other hand claimed that they were aware of the long term anticipation of an AC in a Japanese setting and thus wanted to ensure a 'respectful representation of feudal Japan'."
It's AC, there will evil be ancient aliens, advanced technology or a mythical beast in it. It's not a documentary
munches popcorn watching all the western folks dismissing the annoyance actual Japanese people feel by having their culture insulted while calling anyone who disagrees “chuds”
@torquex just so you know “japs” is considered an offensive term to Japanese people as it was used as a derogatory term, like how “chink” is used as a slur towards Chinese people.
A lot of people saying Yasuke was a real historical character. It's come to light that a lot of what is known about him was made up by a western man called Thomas Lockley, the author who created the 'Yasuke was a legendary Samurai' myth from his book in 2019. He deleted all his social media accounts after Japanese gamers and Japanese historians call out his historical fabrication.
Ok he still did exist, but my question is from all the historical samurai known to us, why did ubisoft choose him over the thousands of known Japanese samurai?
I really don't understand what's going on with Ubisoft.
I mean, Ghost of Yotei will only come out in 2025, so it's not a direct competition. The market is big enough for two great Samurai games, don't you think ?
Everything I saw from this particular Assassin's Creed has been looking great, to my eyes.
Sure, like everyone, I directly noticed the "inclusive push", but after all... why not ? The fact that there was or there was not an accurate black samurai, at one period of time, seems to me irrelevant.
It's a fiction, a video-game fiction, so we can choose to see that as based on a myth. Some kind of folkore. Or an historical fact, I don't know.
But the game seems fine, no ?
(But I did like Avatar and Outlaws, so maybe I'm biased, I don't know).
@PloverNutter Oh I was not aware of that so I apologise if I offended a Japanese person here or anywhere. Here in the UK we sometimes get called "Brits" (british) but I don't get offended to be honest. Im looking forward to playing Assassins Creed Shadows, I just like to play games, i'm looking forward to playing both protagonist in AC Shadows. I'm interested to know why Ubisoft did what they did. Many just like to hate on Ubisoft but i'll keep on supporting them and just try to ignore the haters.
Enough arguments people, life is too short for this crap.
Perhaps Ubisoft just realised the people of Japan don't care for their ***** ass boring games?
Removed - flaming/arguing
@LikelySatan Sorry about the capiche comment and the Japanese comment, was not aware of said above, I hope Ubisoft don't delay AC Shadows but if they do I'd be interested to know why because as far as I am aware they have a PS5 Pro patch/update already.
I honestly don't know, all I know is that it's another AC game and i'm a fan, just want to play in a brilliant Ubisoft open world in ancient Japan.
@Blaze215 Yasuke existed as a samurai character prior to 2019. He was in Nioh in 2017 for a start and in books, manga, anime etc before that. I would imagine deleting social media was more of a respone to harrasment from terminally online twitter morons rather than anything else.
As for why they chose him as a character its pretty simple and something I will always stand behind. Its the creatives right to tell the story they want to tell. If people want to tell a story using a different character then there is nothing stopping them from doing that.
As for why Yasuke I can thing of a few reasons, which dont wade into silly woke dei argument territory.
All things considered I still find the whole outrage silly as Nioh never received this backlash for William Anjin. And GoT never got grief for using a real life event whilst making up the characters. Its just selective outrage from the minority being presented as the majority.
As someone who lived in Japan for several years and enjoys consuming Japanese social media to maintain my language ability, I can confidently say that the majority of criticism written in Japanese regarding Shadows is by native speakers, not Westerners using Google translate to impersonate them.
I must say the lack of due diligence and sincerity shown by the devs, researchers and consultants working on Shadows has been painful to watch! The devs in particular remind me of the uncouth foreign tourists recently swarming Japan due to the cheap yen - they treat the country like a playground for their own amusement with absolutely zero consideration for the local people, rules and customs. One can hardly be surprised that some Japanese gamers may take offence and hold Ubisoft in contempt for some of the choices they have made.
Now compare Ubisoft’s efforts to the love, care and respect Sucker Punch had for source material while making Ghost of Tsushima. That game is unsurprisingly praised amongst Japanese gamers, with a couple of members of the dev team even becoming ambassadors of Tsushima due to their endeavours while making the game! Ubisoft devs can only dream of such recognition, and only have themselves to blame for the current predicament they find themselves in.
Also, it’s hard to comprehend Ubisoft pulling out of TGS at the last minute, leaving organisers and promotional staff hired for the event scrambling. Given that Japanese culture generally prioritises the needs of the group over the individual, I can’t imagine a Japanese company doing what Ubisoft has done as it would be so damaging to their working relationships within the industry and reputation in the domestic market. Ubisoft will no doubt lose some face as a consequence of such actions. I feel bad for all the local staff working at Ubisoft’s headquarters in Japan. They’re no doubt experiencing a really difficult time through no fault of their own.
@Ilyn right I have not seen any media portraying him as a samurai prior to 2019? Could you enlighten me because I have searched for it?
Oh so you "imagine" that's why he deleted his social media, well I guess you must be right then. Please research it and you will see his claims were proven false.
Also conflating this with Nioh is also not right. The Ubisoft devs explicitly advertised this was all about historical accuracy, I don't believe Nioh ever claimed the same.
@PloverNutter @nessisonett
Not just the gamers, you have publications and even parties discussing this in Japan at the moment. Granted their not the most popular groups, but they're still pissed about it.
@torquex The key difference is Brits wasn’t a derogatory term used by other countries during a World War.
@Korgon
AC: Origins, AC: Odyssey, and AC:Valhalla are great games.
But this year Ubisoft has dropped the ball. Good games that could have been great with more time in the oven.
I wasn’t talking about any controversy. Just the fact that with more time they can make better games. Give the developers a chance to shine and create beautiful things.
Instead games from Ubisoft seem rushed, lately. And with it comes flaws, glitches etc.
Even the owner of Ubisoft said they need to slow down their release schedule to give more time for development. And he’s right. But he’s also the person in charge of releasing too much too quick. And he’s done it because of money, not for us the players.
I’m hoping AC: Shadows is good. But it needs more time.
@jrt87 “Fish out of water” stories are pretty common in media. You place a character into a world/scenario they wouldn’t normally be in and they either sink or swim. Big Trouble in Little China, Elf, Army of Darkness, etc. Not to mention real world examples have been dramatized I.e. Lawrence of Arabia.
@Kienda
I mean they said they've given Shadows four years of development. That seems like a fair amount of time to me.
Plus AC Mirage was awesome. I really liked that one. Sure Skull & Bones was a bust and Star Wars Outlaws seems like it was just okay for the most part (though I still intend to play it at some point).
And I didn't mean to make you think I was singling you out as far as the whole controversy situation goes. I meant that as more of a general statement on the discussion surrounding this game. If you want evidence of what I mean...well...look around on this comment section. 😂
@torquex you'd have to work really hard to offend me, and my "capiche" comment was a Simpsons reference, lol.
With the amount of debate happening in the comments and all the "fact" throwing, I want to suggest that everyone start linking their citations as to provide proof and ease of research for the rest of us lmao
@Korgon I wasn’t offended by your comment so no worries. You can tell me off. I can be wrong sometimes. 😅
Yeah, there are lots of political arguments going on and a lot of it is silly (Although their Nendoroid thing using a Nagasaki bombing symbol is insane). But for me I’m more concerned about the polish.
My general view is Ubi needs to slow down a bit and just keep things in the oven longer. 4 years sounds like a long time, but these AC games are huge. Massive games that have so many parts. It takes a long time to get things right.
My friend loves Star Wars Outlaws, his game of the year so far. So not everyone is unhappy.
@Kienda
Well hey it's refreshing to see someone actually critiquing the game/development itself instead of the other nonsense. And by the looks of things it seems like Ubisoft heard you and delayed it so looks like you were right in that they needed more time!
Here's hoping it's for the best!
Can you remove this comment for offensive remarks, I want the boys to think I'm edgy.
@Korgon thanks.
I honestly hope they can fix the game. I really enjoy the series and don’t want to see it or Ubi crash and burn.
@IamJT Ok never knew that, at least i'm aware now.
Some of it was ok ithought but the religious stuff irked me (i hate religion in games) but thats just me.
I tried the trial version and didn't realise it was online only it kept asking for ps plus stuff and i thought it had a single player capmpaign lol.
With 19,000 staff? ..wait what?
You know who a company like Ubisoft would hire to catch things like the one-legged gate? Sweet Baby Inc. You absolute troglodytes.
@astro911 yet another person requesting more publishers to use firms like Sweet Baby Inc to scan their art for "offensive materials." Wow! That's an interesting side effect! Very progressive of you guys!
@torquex the number of staff doesn’t change my point.
They choose as a company to release lots of games. Many of those games could be improved with more time in development.
Their huge number of staff might point to the bad management at the company. They’ve over bloated their teams and have quantity over quality, just like their games.
They are paying the price now because people don’t want to spend their money on half baked games and investors don’t want to invest in mismanaged companies.
For years fans asked for a proper Japanese AC and they crapped all over it and while they did slapped the face of Japanese history and culture. They have been obsessed with the diversity and ideology for years now and clearly they have had input from someone in that field.
If I was a shareholder I would be pulling big time right about now because Ubisoft will be the first to buckle if they carry on.
I have the feeling they got negative feedback from Japanese people who saw it.
