There were rumours at the beginning of the year that April was looking like a good month for Xbox games on PS5, and that’s certainly beginning to look like the case.
We already know Forza Horizon 5, the acclaimed open world racer, will make its PlayStation debut on 29th April, but there are also credible rumours that Machine Games’ well-liked Indiana Jones and the Great Circle will precede it on 17th April.
Now, World’s Edge, the team behind Age of Empires 2: Definitive Edition, has released patch notes for the iconic strategy game’s next major update. While it doesn’t specifically state a PS5 release date, it heavily implies that the port will launch alongside the patch in mid-April.
“We know you’re curious and want details, but this one needs to wait a bit longer – we’ll have more to say about this very soon,” it said of the anticipated PlayStation version.
If this isn’t enough, there were also reports overnight that Bethesda’s heavily rumoured Oblivion remake could release as early as April as well. While that remains very much speculation, we should at least see the game revealed by the end of next month.
So, while the spring period is usually a slower window for new game releases, it’s looking like PS5 is going to be absolutely packed to the gills with new games – especially if you don’t already own an Xbox and have been waiting to play some of Microsoft’s biggest games.

Xbox does what Playstation don't: realease games!
@Ichiban Xbox has way more studios than Sony. They swallowed two giant publishers so naturally they got way more game incoming.
@Ichiban Forza Horizon 5 is 3.5 years old...
Really looking forward to playing through Horizon 5 again. Anyone buying it that hasn’t played a Forza Horizon game yet are in for a treat.
@Ichiban I know you're (hopefully) joking but they bought two multiformat publishers and are porting games from their back catalogue.
Of course they have more games to release than Sony right now.
I love that we're getting all these titles on playstation, however you'd think Microsoft would be a little more tactical with their release schedule. No need to release them on top of eachother!
Really looking forward to playing indy though .
@SoulChimera that was one of the only games I was envious of Xbox users for. Though I have one of the Arcade 1up machines, a sit down Outrun driving one, and I just put Forza 5 on there and it really is absolutely fantastic. Will be getting on PS5 as well.
Only really interested in Forza Horizon 5, I've already traded in my copy of The Crew Motorfest as it will be completely redundant now.
Motorfest was a decent game but just didn't quite hit the same as Forza
@SoulChimera Not necessarily. FH5 was the first game in the series I played and I was quite bored actually. It’s good to know beforehand that it’s VERY arcade in setup and handling. If that’s your thing, you’ll probably have a great time with it.
Im double dipping on Indy at some point, not decided on FH5 yet as I kind of bounced off that on Xbox after having played FH4 quite a lot and its more of the same but not as good buit if you´re new to the series or just love that type of game you´re in for a treat!
@mac_da_man just curious but why is it that you double dip? Is it about achievement/trophies? the difference in controllers? wanting to support the developers? completionism?
Looks like I will only be playing Xbox games this year, ngl. Too much good stuff. How will I even have time for DS2 🐸
I think Indie will be my first preorder in years. The xbox guys tested it for us. 😂
@hi_drnick
A bit of all of that 🤓 Played it on the series S and just focused on the story but want to play it again and do everything but get the best experience which should be the ps5 pro 🙂
The whole "Sony doesn't release games" joke has gotten old and boring, find another one guys...
If the Oblivion remake releases so soon without any advance notice I’ll eat my own tutu.
@Ichiban they are doing exactly what Sony does porting old games to new systems
@get2sammyb Though I suppose, jokes aside, that very difference in studios also make the recent Sony cancellations sting all the more, given they have fewer studios in the first place.
Still. Game wise, the futures looking bright for them both.
In the grand scheme of things this could be the perfect trojan horse for microsoft to regain players for their games. Great empires only fall from inside.
@mac_da_man makes prefect sense. Thanks for sharing.
@Dampsponge id hardly call ps4 games old. $ony is going for the low hanging fruit , coasting off the ps4s success while the ps5 continues to sell itself for simply existing
@get2sammyb No worries, 9/10 when I post here I'm talking out of my ass or just having a laugh!
For what it's worth I think the PS5 is the only console worth owning these days.
In 2025 Xbox coulb be the largest publisher on Playstation, that's a hard concept.
Not getting any of them if they require a MS account. Not that im against opening accounts but just because it’s Microsoft
I think that Microsoft have so many games already that they can release, @Afroducc, plus games in the pipeline that will likely be releasing day on on the PlayStation (and I genuinely believe that it will be all Xbox games either day one, or pretty soon after) that they probably don't really have the option of spreading them out that much...
@get2sammyb Sony is porting its back catalogue too!
NOTE: Light-hearted jab at all the PS4 Remasters.
It does feel like the Microsoft game releases are just being dropped without much strategic thought. The four games listed here are different genres at least, but if they really drop four games in a month without any marketing or promotion that seems to be a missed opportunity to let each game be spotlighted. Although I don’t know how these things work and so maybe Sony has control over how much promotion these games get and so that affects things. I’m sure Sony wants them to be successful so they can lap up the free 30% commission on each game’s sales. But I also think it’s poor PR to have Indiana Jones or Forza to supplant the attention that they are trying to draw to Rebirth, Death Stranding 2, Lost Soul Aside, Astrobot, or even the console exclusives F2P stuff like ZZZ and Honkai.
Of course, the lack of hype build and teases for these games might feel scrawny to me because it’s in contrast to Sony’s own exclusives which seem to have multi-year build ups and rumors for ages before they finally hit the store. Each release gets two or three trailers and has to be highlighted at some kind of event before it actually gets released. We’ve been drip-fed information about these Sony projects for years and so to have 4 games from a publisher drop in a month without much fanfare feels strange.
I’d be excited for Indy if it weren’t first person. As far racing games go, I only care for Midnight Club. And we all know that’s over and done with.
@Th3solution Microsoft doesn’t give much money to the marketing department. No idea why, it just doesn’t.
Even Indiana Jones - in all its greatness - didn’t have much other than the occasional ad in YouTube or Facebook popping up.
Part of it may be Microsoft’s pledge to go carbon negative (which is probably why you don’t see a lot of PR stunts due to the waste it generates to do that).
But why it doesn’t push to have ads anywhere and everywhere online is baffling.
A big month for X Box equals a big month for PlayStation^^
@GamingFan4Lyf Yeah, I was imagining an alternate hypothetical universe in which Indiana Jones was a PlayStation studios game and there’s no doubt that we would have seen it hyped and advertised extensively. It would be the pop-up on the PS Store front page for weeks promoting pre-orders before release and also thrown in front of our faces at every opportunity for many weeks afterward. On my storefront on the PlayStation app the highlighted game is still FF7 Rebirth even though that released over a year ago! (I’m not sure it this is curated based on my purchase history of browsing history though.)
On the one hand, I hate that Microsoft is stacking their releases like this. On the other...they have to get these games out before the PACKED fall/winter season. These games aren't going to stand a chance against the usual annual sports releases, COD, and the much-anticipated GTA6. They either release them now in the Spring/summer or wait until next year. I also have a big suspicion that they want these games to be ready for the Switch 2 launch. Let's also not forget about Ghost of Yotei, which is absolutely going to dominate the conversation on the month it releases. That one smells like a summer release to me
They going to have a record breaking quarter
@McBurn big month for gamers
All I want is Starfield
@Ichiban Sony released a few games on pc quite recently, its just the same.
Played Indiana Jones on gamepass and for me it wasn't all that, know it got some big reviews but an overall 6/10 was a far more accurate score in my opinion
Even though it's half decent it's definitely not worth getting over excited about, becomes a very very boring game quite quickly
The idea of cross platform I do like though, but ultimately in the long run there needs to be a cut off point somewhere or else we end up with one system and a complete monopoly on the industry, donkeys years down the line if it was to happen but still
Sony has historically released games just fine. Their pivot to live service games, majority of which have now been cancelled, changed that. Fortunately for PlayStation owners, as Sony moves into recovery mode, Microsoft has shifted to a multiplatform developer, filling in the gaps. Luck and timing were with Sony on this one.
@get2sammyb No, he is not joking. Sony WASTED 4 years on GaaSes no one wanted.
@Member_the_game you'll love Forza. It is excellent. Hopefully at some point they will bring the other 4 to Playstation. I enjoyed all of them. 1 & 3 are my favorites.
@GamingFan4Lyf
Ironically, the Great Circle is actually the one game they made some sort of effort advertising.
Blimps, side of buses, posters in NYC.
@GeeForce Disney must have paid for those ads. 😆
I'll get excited when I see news of Gears Of War, Halo or Sunset Overdrive comig to PS. Those are the big 3 (and really the only 3) I've ever wanted to play from Xbox.
