Re: Reaction: Japan Studio's Disbandment Is Disappointing, But Not Surprising

BlaizeV

Kinda weird considering Astrobot has been a huge success.

I agree with others that Sony needs Japanese talent. Buying either a big Japanese studio or a bunch of small ones would do them good.

Microsoft will only continue to chip away at available talent otherwise. I mean MS have the capital to buy basically any Japanese studio if they wanted.

Re: EA Speeds Past Take-Two's Bid for Codemasters with Huge Counter Offer

BlaizeV

What kills me about this is I see EA just lumbering them with sodding Need For Speed at somepoint. I've never known a franchise be peddled so much without improvement.

EA already had a superb UK based racing game studio, in fact they had a couple and they destroyed one i.e Criterion and almost the other in Slightly Mad.

What they will end up doing to Codemasters I do not know. Though I suspect some sort of Ultimate Team will end up in Formula One games in a couple of years.

Re: The XIII PS4 Remake Looks Like a Massive Disaster

BlaizeV

Do you remember how cool cel shading was? wtf happened to make the game industry despise it so much that now even a XIII remake doesn't really have it. All those Bandai Namco Shonen Jump games should be cel shaded and so few of them are.

Makes me so sad.

Re: The New PS Store for Web, Mobile Is a Dramatic Downgrade

MS are on course to win or at the least match Sony next time round. Apparently the arrogance of market leaders has struck yet again, a trend that has existed since pretty much Nintendo moving from the Snes to N64, the only outlier being PS1 to PS2.

Outside of already being invested in the PS economy I have no desire for a PS5 anytime soon.

Re: Talking Point: Did Sony's PS5 Deep Dive Live Up to the Hype?

BlaizeV

That should have been a secondary reveal. We should have already had the public unveiling.

Also the system not even being fully compatible with PS4!? Are you actually kidding me? Seriously might jump ship back to Xbox. There is a sense of that PS3 era arrogance creeping in about how Sony have handled the PS5 thus far. It's like the companies in the lead just can't help themselves and always just act with arrogance and complacency. Sony did it with PS3, MS did it with XONE and Nintendo did it with the Wii U.

Re: EU PlayStation Store Mega March Sale Discounts Lots of PS4 Games

BlaizeV

It's always the same games on Sale over and over and over again. There are so many indie titles I'm interested in getting that never go on Sale ever. Always seems to be the same circulation of 200 or so games on sale and thats it. So frustrating.

For Example a Puzzle Game I'm interested in called Tumblestone has been barely on sale once I think. The game is £11.99 normally on Switch but it's £24.99 on PS4. I think the lowest I ever saw it was £16 something the one time it was on Sale.

I'd also like to get Crystal Crisis and I may actually cave soon at full price as that game to date has never been on Sale on PS4 once. Not only is it normally cheaper on Switch anyway but it's currently on Sale on there for just £8.99

Re: E3 2020 Is About to Be Cancelled

Hey if E3 goes away this year maybe it means any conferences that might now be just digital can actually be on at a time that suits Europe as well as NA in terms of time.

Re: Talking Point: Is Sony Right to Skip E3 2020?

BlaizeV

I think it's a mistake. Because while yes while it is easier now than ever to talk to your audience there is still no denying that E3 is when the audience is most switched on and ready to consume that information. Any other year sure give it a miss if you feel you must but when you're launching a new console E3 in 2020 still has its place.

The only thing I can think would make more sense for Sony is to host an event for the PS5, in a Playstation Experience style, about a week AFTER E3. If you do it before all that information gets swallowed up by E3 but if you do it after people will talk about the PS5 all through E3 knowing that all will be revealed very soon.

E3 in 2020 is still just about relevant and that is because us consumers still expect it to be and as long as we do that then E3 will live on in some way.

So unless Sony still capitalize on E3 in some form with the timing of their reveal or subsequent reveals then I think they will regret it. Otherwise I think this is once again Sony getting big head syndrome just like they did with the PS2 to PS3. Microsoft will be ready to pounce and Sony will not have it so easy this time. Which is the part people forget from the last time around, Microsoft basically handed Sony this generation through appalling vision and misreading of what consumers wanted on MS's side. All that has changed, Microsoft have spent the last 3 years building the brand up again and building the foundations for this generation. Game Pass is better than PSNow, Studio acquisitions sensible and their Cloud gaming service likely to supersede Sony's current offering. Sony should be quite wary.
