I really wished for a better review(er). It says missing game modes, mentions that story is the main mode but doesn't neglect that there are others but no word of them. Also it says it's lazy but if they have done 170 new over the top magic skills I would not call it like that. Just feels lacking, like quickly done. Tastes differ and you have a right for your opinion but from a professional that earns money with it the review, for me, feels "average" as well and should have been more fleshed out, especially with that score. Anyway, thanks for your effort but, for me, not helpful
@Octane You could use Ubi-points and order from their store to pay ~64. They also have some pre order extra ship allthough I don't know if that's still availlable as it was limited
@LieutenantFatman Good you were live with them and know everything that happened. While you're at it there are probably a lot of movies, music and games you should burn as there were people involved with similar accusations.
@LaNooch1978 Yes I know what you mean and it would've been a better idea to do college era. But apart from that it was a fun ride for me, they also earned a lot of credits thta they didn't cut, alter or simplify the ending.
@LaNooch1978 I agree. I have to admit I had trouble in the beginning with Toby and Kirsten as actors for their roles (and still have to some degree) but I really liked the Raimis, even the third allthough that one has so many lost opportunities. I also quite liked the amazing reboot as it really nailed parts of the source and I was hoping they would stick with him instead of rebooting again for the MCU.
@kyleforrester87 Sometimes that's the best thing to enjoy something. I for example stood away from Horizon because I always thought "Gosh, why robot-dinos instead of real ones, what a stupid design choice, you fools" until we lately found some time to start it up. And it is actually quite good. It is overhyped, yes, and the story is very predictable but it is a solid 8/10 and it wasn't really ticking my boxes as well. Same goes vice versa with TLOU for example that was ticking a lot of boxes for me but ended up as one of the worst games I have ever played. So I just hope for both of us that we will get our fun out of it
And of course I would never bite your head off, I can fully understand what you mean, I am just hoping it turns out to be something for you, because fun is luckily not always bound to our "boxes"
@PS_Nation Well luckily box office isn't everything. Haven't seen it yet so can't comment on it but I have seen Homecoming and they really ruined Spideys Character. I mean he is even to stupid to build his own suit so he just wears an elastiv Iron Man suit. Also I think aunt May is really casted wrong and just so Tony can get a few MILF-lines. He is also missing any Spider-Senses just to get the story forward. Also the actor seems to be to stupid to drive a car so the had to CG an short drive down an entrance. And there are dozens above dozens stupid things that kills just Spider-Man. I mean the classic one, it's just for the young generation that need a weak joke every 83 seconds and some cool effects so they can talk about how cool it is. I mean Disney loves killing everything they possess for money and it's working unfortunatelly but as someone who grew up with the comics I have to say that this is one of the worst kills of a character. The only good thing is Michael Keaton and he is basically holding the movie alone but there is just to much crap, bad camera-work, story holes and deus ex machinas for him to keep it up alone. Even the original TV-show with real actor from the 80s-something was way better.
Don't get me wrong, to each their own but for me that was another kill of childhood by Disney as they did with Star Wars. And yes, Venom is looking quite good but after this desaster I'm really not hyped at all anymore. That's why I really hope that this game will do it better.
@kyleforrester87 I know what you mean, especially since everything these days has this open world stuff (it feels like it) and it's getting repetitive in many cases. But I guess here it is a little bit different because you are in a city, a crowded one, and swinging through it could be a lot of fun (well it better is or the whole game will be bad as you will propably do this a lot ^^)
I remember back when it released Darksiders was hyped as "Mature Zelda" and this really pulled me away from it. It took some years til I played it and I really regrettetd listening to this lines in the first place as it is something really different but a lot of fun and I can't wait for the third as well. As for RDR... I loved the Wild West setting since forever and I really enjoyed part 1 but I have lost my faith in Rockstar somehow. I played the original GTA when it released (And to this day I love this top down view, that's why I really love Chinatown Wars and had the most fun with it within the "newer" releases) and played every other game from them. But I really hated GTA 4, couldn't even finish it because of the Main Character. And 5 was better again but still... Can't put it into words, but it just wasn't as much fun. GTA Online is just a big grind and lives and dies with the Session you're in. From the Trailers RDR2 Characters are again this super-badass-rockstar-knows-best-what-characters-are-cool-etc. and so I'm just not sure if I like it in the end. I sure hope though. In the end though I have to say that almost every game you play has some kind of "superhero", no matter if CoD, MGS or now SM. If the game is good you will have fun, I can guarantee that
@PS_Nation Haven't seen the new TR Movie, but it surely can't be as bad as Homecoming, that one wasn't only boring but a plain awful Spider-Man.
@kyleforrester87 I guess SM is one of easiest superheroes to identify with and that makes him popular. He also broke with a lot of the "classic comic rules" (read up Gwen Stacy for example). If the devolepers have captured some of the freedom and the characters of the original source, this will be a lot of fun, even for you
I'm not sure yet completely but I preferred the Ubisoft one definatelly. TLOU2 was, as I feared, as boring, repetive and uninspired as the first one; Ghosts is day 1; Death Stranding looked good but... I don't know... boring... Have to see on that one; Spidey looked good, it's pre-ordered anyway; Resi 2 is great to have finally a date but I don't really like the faces of the main cast I have to admit; Nioh 2 is awesome; The Remedy Title looked unfortuantelly like all effect and no substance to me... But after all, except for KH3, RE2 and Spidey, the lack of release dates tell me that they will all be present next E3 as well. All in all it was mediocre with some surprises that were good but pulled down by the horrible pacing, the awful beginning and the lack of anything concrete for some "deep dives". Anyway there is a lot to look forward to and that's good as a gamer.
@PS_Nation but the truth is they are not free, it is more like a limited ps now. Sure if you platin them right away and never want to visit them again everything is fine but as it stands now a PS3/Vita owner will have to pay for psplus to keep their plus library playable without getting anything new anymore. You maybe can't buy the games for the price you mentioned but for a bit more (except for bloodborne you could get them quite cheap) they would be yours even if you don't renew your sub.
@adf86 Just a personal observation but if nintendos online service is really a decade behind why is it better? This is just personal observation as stated but I had not so many trouble playing online with 3DS/wiiu/switch than with the ps4 with lost connections, long downtimes etc. Also their store is much more accessible while the ps4 store is just horrible (like jumping back to top when adding something from the sale to basket, random reloads of the whole page, not listing games when you search for them and much more). And it is (soon was) all free.
Topic: As of now I own a lot of the games offered in plus so the only chance to get some value was through some cross buys that I don't have. So I hope they may add the option to get cheaper plus without games (And vice versa as that would help the ps3/vita people to keep their years of games for cheap). I can't see them putting reguar vr titles in the pot mainly because there are not enough users. For now one can only wait and hope it changes for the better as this is long overdue
I really hope it doesn't turn into an exclusive for PS as, in my opinion, it's a worse game than the ones on the Nintendo platforms. It's not bad by any means but it is so dumped down with so much less to manage and hand holding everywhere while the monsters are barely any more challenge. I mean I get that it's targeted at the western audience and I don't mind letting PS get an iteration as well but I fear that this will become the standard now and that is sad, well for me as I said. I can still have my fun with it I guess but in no extent as the 3DS ones or the WII/WiiU
@ThroughTheIris56 Just curious why you think that it's a fact. To me TLOU was the best example of overhype ever and I really had to push myself hard to finish it. For me it's a 7/10 max if I'm generous allthough I know that this is a very unpopular opinion...
@Johnnycide Yes I know I shouldn't argue about that as this so overhyped. Maybe that's the reason it failed for me. I really loved the beginning allthough the tone already told you what will happen to the daughter but it was nevertheless well executed. But going on from this it was more and more clichee with mixed up stories that were told many times before. That didn't make it bad, I enjoyed the story but it wasn't really anything special. The part that was really bad in TLOU was the gameplay as it was just so repetive boring.
And yes I know the genres are not entirely fitting but you can find some parallels and as TLOU was told to have this "hyper-awesome-emotional-never-reached" story I have to say that the Story of BTS was much better (for me) and the gaeplay parts that also shared some parallels was better too (except the horse riding)
I don't want to convince you of my view and I know I can't but for me there are some parallels and I would give TLOU a 6 or 7 with BTS a strong 9. As I said this is for me so stop saying "one of the best games ever made" as this is clearly just for you and I couldn't disagree more.
Really hard to agree here when Story and Gameplay are really better than Last of Us (for me). But I guess everyone has their opinion. I played it for the first time and couldn't wait what would happen next but I can understand that this is hard to get into, being more an interactive movie. I just can't see the shaky script and all you described, for me personally it fitted all together well and told a great story over a big timeline. The only bad point for me were the horse controls ^^
I really don't think that the "microtransactions" ruin it or should take points from the review. I mean as you just play along one of the channels you earn quite some coins that you can use for some passes, you also get a lot for leveling up plus bonuses from the premium shows. And I really think it is a great approach to "force" you to play along the channels, getting you out of the comfort zone of your favourite tracks and just throwing you in. I really think that this approach is better than the real money dlc that can get really really expensive over time where all you do here is play along some friends or strangers, exchange your coins and play some of your favourites. Yes you have to do it again if you wanna play them again but they are "free".
I really think they made a great game and the live mode feels really immersive and great. Having a lot of fun, the controller is much better than the old one and a really huge library. Everyone on the fence shouldn't be afraid of the "microtransactions" as you can really have a lot of fun and also play your favourite song plus many new added over time for no extra fee if you bring some willing to play guitar... And isn't that the essence anyway?
