I think the release of the PS5 will be in 2019, for one sony is very invested in playstation VR and it's doing well sales wise; while the PS4 Pro offers some improvements for VR games over the base PS4 it still isn't where it should be visually, too many compromises have to be made in order to keep a high frame rate for a smooth experience. I think sony will want to improve the VR experience sooner rather than later.
Personally I think sony should build a machine that is twice the power of the PS4 Pro, that should be enough to do native 4K @60 FPS along with a few other visual enhancements.
Until I get to play it for my self i'll reserve my final conclusions. YouTube videos are too compressed to give any real indication of visual fidelity and trailers can't inform you if the gameplay is fun or rewarding to a persons specific taste, only playing the game personally can give you that information. Very interested in seeing how this game performs technically and how alive and atmospheric the world feels.
@get2sammyb LOL rockstar pass up an opportunity to make money on the same game twice? I don't think so... It's the only explanation for it not being remastered by now and not even being on PC for that matter, I think it will be bundled in some sort of legacy edition and then sold separately at a later date. Just my two cents, I could be wrong but I just have a nagging feeling this is how it will play out lol
John Marston could still be a playable character, this is just my humble opinion but I don't think rockstar would pass up an opportunity to use the character switching feature used in GTA V. I'm still disappointed there was no news on a red dead redemption remaster but there is still time...
I never got to play Red Dead Redemption on PS3 and I'm surprised it never got a PC version. I heard good things about the game but I don't have a PS3 anymore so the only way for me to play it right now is through the PS Now service which I'm not a fan of, especially because you only get stereo sound no 5.1 or 7.1 - and visually I don't like the look of the game via PS Now, had to force my self to play the game and try to just focus on the gameplay and story.
@DirectAim and or don't play allot of online team based focused games. It don't matter how many friends one has, not everyone will be into the same games, I don't play half the games my friends play, we all have different tastes.
I personally don't give a damn. My console and game buying decisions don't depend on friends. If a friend of mine is playing on xbox and I'm on PS4 I aint gonna miss them, life goes on.... I've been enjoying games on ps network all these years without this feature, it's not going to make any difference to me now whether or not it happens.
Sounds good but still no word on turbo kits or nitrous which is a big thing for any die hard GT fan in arcade mode & private lobbies, taking a slow stock car and suping it up to ridiculous HP levels! lol "tires, brake bias, suspension, aerodynamics, drivetrain, transmission, and power to weight ratio" still a bit vague. They could always add a more traditional GT career mode later gradually in small amounts via DLC.
@FaultyDroid I have to agree with you a bit, Red Dead Redemption Remastered is a no brainer! easy $ money $ but I suspect they will do something similar to what happened with Call Of Duty MW2 remastered, they will probably include the Red Dead Redemption Remaster with special edition versions of Red Dead Redemption 2 only and then later on it will be sold separately. The game isn't even available on PC, only on PS3 and Xbox360 so it's definitely overdue!
For some reason this game was on my mind today 4-5 hours ago and I was thinking of it being on PS4 and then I went on twitter just now and saw the announcement, creepy lol
@get2sammyb lol yes indeed I believe that is the case, they are obviously trying to get the attention of gamers with a certain/specific mindset. I guess i'm just old, I'm way passed my ''I want to see naked women and boobies teenage phase" lol
As someone who has self control and isn't sexually deprived I find her walk over the top, unnecessary and just annoying. But that's just my personal opinion, 2 cents....
I enjoyed it for what it was and what it offered, especially the two player co-op because that is something that is seriously lacking nowadays. I felt like I was playing a saturday morning cartoon and I got a bit nostalgic, thinking about my younger days playing ps1 and ps2 games with my friend on saturdays.
The game was/is not bad it's just because it was a launch title and many playstation haters made fun of it without even given it a chance and to be honest the negativity effected my reason for not buying it until it was on sale and I said I want to see for my self why people hate this game so much cause at second glance it don't look that bad.
This reminds me of the good old days of 2 player games on PS1 & PS2 and more so of a time when many games had demos available for you to try and that is how you knew you liked a game but now you have to watch a trailer and take a leap of faith lol gaming magazines would often have a demo disc with a few games to try each month. I think this is something that should never have died, many devs could easily upload demos to the ps store.
I hope Sony's next console has double the power of PS4 Pro so developers wont have to make as many compromises when it comes to balancing performance with high quality visuals. 4.2 GHz 8-core AMD CPU 8.4 TFLOP AMD GPU 16 GB GDDR5 RAM UHD BLURAY DRIVE 2TB HDD it may seem like a crazy fantasy that will never happen but this is what's needed going forward.
I would rather play these PS2 classics where developers where trying their best to make the game look as best as it could on PS2 hardware, rather than play these new indie retro style 8bit games where they are purposely making the visuals look unattractive. Jak & Daxter 3 should look even better as the PS2 games in the later years looked the best compared to the earlier games. Give us more classic ps2 games sony!
@BLP_Software lol calm down it's not game breaking. Personally while playing I get a smooth framerate with no issues so far. I have boost mode and 60hz mode turned on in the game. p.s I'm using Beta 5.0 firmware as well.
@get2sammyb Hmm ok I will try, I only say that because that is what amazon uk said in the email lol and it failed when I tried, I will give it a shot tomorrow, thanks.
This and Ape escape 2 have aged well in my personal opinion. So many great ps2 games out there but at this rate we won't see most of them for a long while, if at all.....
From the above video it looks good to me. A bit disappointed that I need the disc in order to redeem the code for Jak & Daxter, I had planned on playing Jak & Daxter until uncharted the lost legacy arrived tomorrow. I got a code for the last of us remastered when I bought my original ps4 and I didn't need any additional requirements. Oh well looking forward to playing this classic as I didn't get to properly years ago.
As a fan of the recent movies, Rise, Dawn and War, I would love for this to be good and succeed but in my opinion from the gameplay and trailer i've seen it looks like it won't be very enjoyable, and what's up with the fur/hair on the apes? The only game based on a movie that I remember having decent review scores was Peter Jackson's king kong 2005 and kong had more realistic fur/hair on the xbox360 version.
As more game developers in the console space start to embrace atmos, dts x and auro3D in their games more and more discussions will take place. Currently the closes thing I have to experiencing atmos in a game is watching the clip of star wars BF on the dolby atmos demonstration bluray and pretending it's on PS4 and not PC lol
@NintendoFan4Lyf It's an unfortunate limitation of the Binaural audio approach, it's made for headphones specifically and the effect will be lost once played back on home cinema systems. If they had instead used DTS X, Auro3D or Dolby Atmos then the audio would scale to any configuration while maintaining the effects and everyone would get a consistent mix whether their using headphones or a compatible AVR. I don't use headphones so I'm not interested in the Binaural approach, I've invested allot of time, energy and money into my cinema system over the years.
My AVR only supports atmos and dts x but I'm more than happy with the results I get when playing Auro3D content with the Neural x upmixer enabled, Neural x does an amazing job at simulating the VOG channel and even back when I had my basic 5.1 system Auro3D content sounded amazing, it wasn't being played back in true Auro3D but there was a clear improvement none the less. I have done many many many experiments with the different formats. I would love to know how the dts neural x upmixer works so well with Auro3D, I think it has something to do with the fact that Auro3D uses DTS-HD as a delivery method. For example on the Auro3D demo bluray a man is speaking about where sounds can be placed and when he says ''and even above you'' if you have neural x turned on it will be above your head, I have speakers in my ceiling so i'm not sure if it works with the dolby enabled speakers that reflect sound off of the ceiling.
@BAMozzy lol I couldn't care less about hellblade, I was simply agreeing with what you said and adding in my two cents about what I like as well generally speaking (all games). We almost had a moment.... you ruined it lol
@wiiware True that! They mix as though they are mixing for big rooms they forget that most of us game in small rooms and have no need for huge dynamic ranges and only a few games allow you to adjust these settings, Uncharted and the last of us comes to mind, great audio settings menu.
@BAMozzy I enjoy those benefits but what I really like is the immersive side to it as well when you can hear all the fine details of the environment around you that just transports you to that place, the wind, rain, chatter from people, insects, birds and other animals ect... when done right you can really get lost in those places and be instantly transported acoustically.
I don't know how many people do this but our ears are more sensitive to sound in the dark, it's one of the reasons why when you go to see a movie at the cinema the room is dark, the main reason of course is so the projector can show the best image. So when at home whether you are watching a movie or playing a game you can enhance the audio experience by playing in a dark or low light room. You will hear allot more details in the sounds around you. Same as how a blind person has increased hearing sensitivity. It also helps you to focus on the screen and block out everything else, in short every little helps to improve the immersion.
@get2sammyb It's not immersive to many gamers because many gamers are not equipped to enjoy sound in an immersive way, plus sound is subjective. You have to be passionate about the results heard from imaginative sound mixing and design in the first place to truly appreciate it. My first trip to the cinema got me hooked on surround sound. One of the major reasons sound design is under appreciated is the dynamic range in audio tracks, explosions and gunshots are loud and ambient sounds like wind, insects and birds ect... are always on the lower end of the dynamic range, those sounds are important for creating mood and atmosphere in environments but don't really get a chance to shine fully because most people have the volume turned way down because of the loud explosions and gunfire.
The other is proper system setup and calibration of room acoustics to make sure you are getting the best sound in your room just as you would calibrate your tv to make sure you are getting a good accurate picture, and you need a good sound system to begin with. A stereo system and even a soundbar won't give you an immersive experience like an Atmos, DTS X or Auro 3D Home Cinema sound system which are all compatible with headphones btw. I don't mean one of those flimsy all-in-one ''home cinema'' packages i'm talking about a proper cinema sound system built from quality separate, dedicated components. The kind of stuff that puts the wife/gf in a bad mood and makes your neighbours hate you lol
Binaural audio is nothing new it's been around for a while and in hellblade caters to a specific group of gamers, those that wear headphones. It can not be enjoyed as intended on a 5.1, 7.1 or 11.1 system. Which is why I'm more in favor of the newer, better and more flexible alternatives which caters to everyone, everyone is a winner whether you like using headphones or an AVR. Atmos, DTS X and Auro 3D can all scale up and down to any system configuration. I personally prefer not to use headphones, I like to feel the low bass frequencies in the room and kicking me in the chest and just the raw power of a well calibrated system. Here is a good 30 minute podcast discussion about it, the focus was VR but it applies to none VR content as well in terms of creative possibilities. http://voicesofvr.com/398-audio-objects-for-narrative-360-vr-with-dolby-atmos/
Most people have no idea how overpriced Electronics are, the trade price compared to the retail price is nuts only an idiot would call this a good deal even when taking into account the PS4 Pro. Plus if one is proper serious about HDR & 4K they will wait for a TV that utilizes HDR to it's full potential, all these expensive sets that people are grabbing will soon be in the trash or on Ebay when the 2018 - 2019 Dolby Vision sets are released, full hardware support for Dolby Vision HDR. http://www.rtings.com/
The main issue is the lack of consistency each month for good/fun and varied games. If the price increases so to should the current benefits like discounts and it wouldn't be bad to allow players to choose 2 or maybe even 3 games from PS now to play for free each month if you're a PS plus subscriber. While if you're a full PS now subscriber you get access to all the games. In my opinion Sony is starting to slowly slip back into their old ways again in many areas not just PS plus.
A large amount of players on GTA V are under 18 and the only way not to hear annoying kids screaming down their microphones is to create a party and prioritize party audio because rockstart can't be bothered to have a mute all function. Strauss Zelnick needs to stop talking nonsense.
It will be interesting to see what they have been working on when they reveal more details. I don't think the update will include anything that I'm interested in personally so I'm not getting my hopes up too high but I would love to be wrong.
I would like to see GIF and Video (both captured video and YouTube links) support added to the communities players create. Support for the Dolby Access app so select Netflix content and select future games can be enjoyed in Dolby Atmos. Background/Theme creator, so users can use a captured video clip as their background. Extend the video upscaling capabilities to include video played via the Media Player app not just DVD's & Bluray's. More Key tone sound FX's to choose from would be good as well, the default key tone is annoying at this point.
Support for H.265 video (HEVC) not just an MP4 H.264 with 4K resolution, DSD 5.6 MHz, DTS-HD & Dolby TrueHD audio support in the Media Player app. Supersampling support for the YouTube & Netflix apps for users of PS4 PRO on a 1080P display, so videos will play in 4K but sample down to 1080p resolution for a crisper cleaner image. "Stats for Geeks", realtime audio & video bitrate info/analysis overlay in the Media Player app.

Hmmm the video doesn't seem to match up with the title of this article lol
Re: Gran Turismo Sport May Be in for a Tough Ride
As far as I am aware you can still unlock cars, buy cars and tune cars. Plus there is an arcade mode to setup your own offline races.
Re: Soapbox: PlayStation Plus Price Hike - Is It Justified?
The main issue is the lack of consistency each month for good/fun and varied games. If the price increases so to should the current benefits like discounts and it wouldn't be bad to allow players to choose 2 or maybe even 3 games from PS now to play for free each month if you're a PS plus subscriber. While if you're a full PS now subscriber you get access to all the games. In my opinion Sony is starting to slowly slip back into their old ways again in many areas not just PS plus.
Re: Publisher Take-Two Doesn't Expect Red Dead Redemption 2 to Equal Grand Theft Auto V
A large amount of players on GTA V are under 18 and the only way not to hear annoying kids screaming down their microphones is to create a party and prioritize party audio because rockstart can't be bothered to have a mute all function. Strauss Zelnick needs to stop talking nonsense.
Re: PS4 Firmware Update 5.0 Beta Incoming, Here's How to Sign Up
It will be interesting to see what they have been working on when they reveal more details.
